  • Amazing !

Unfortunately, there's some people around who think they can teach Porteiro how to drive ...

  • von anno dazumal bis heute (2011) hat der motorsport nichts DRECKIGERES;HEFTIGERES UND WAHNSINNIGERES hervor gebracht.. over the top.. nur geil.......danke BMW!!!!!!!

  • Let me tell you something. You must have NO taste in cars if you don't think this M1 Procar sounds awesome. That engine roar is EPIC! These were two great laps in this car. It takes some character to race a classic car like the M1 Procar around a modern course like the Valencia Circuit.

  • So girls and boys......

What is the very best car you`ve driven.

How many years race driving have you all done

Now i`m not talking about computer games now.... a real racing car.... with a engine and g forces on braking and cornering.

Arm chair racers are faster the Schumi and far more experienced than Sir Stirling.

    Answer the questions

I and others are waiting !!!!

  • @totougo

    The band is called "Deux".

  • Clearly bumping the rev limiter and over-revving the engine on downshifts. Insane car!

  • Probably this is what GOD would drive!!!!!!:))

  • Horrible ! Even when he shift down the gear it's to early ...

  • I agree, but that;s probably what he's used to in the modern cars he drives. Should have adapted though, this can't be good for the engine.

  • That stupid fuck cannot shift!

The car is a great anyway, love the way it looks and sounds!

  • Agreed...he was downshifting way to early...he was over revving the engine!

  • wonderful sound

  • I lost count of how many times he was bouncing it off the rev limiter. What was the people at BMW thinking when they hired him ?.

  • One of the greatest straight 6's of all time!

  • Great car, poor driving :(

  • el que conduce no es Felix Porteiro,es su hermano Santi orteiro

  • the comments posted on this clip are a bloody riot of laughs , the guy is a race driver , anyone knows that when you jumo in a car you not used to its always weird and you never get it the way you want it at first !! i reckon all this here was pretty normal stuff for the occasion.

  • Holding it on the limiter as it's quicker and easier than changing up (pointlessly) and then back down again. It's a race car lol, chill out.

  • he isn't shifting well, he's not supposed to hit the rev limit on every gear!

    AWESOME car

  • ZOMG this is so wrong! And even more: to a car like this!

  • I race the BASF car. This dude has no clue as to what he is doing, bad shifts, bad lines through the corners and he is very rough on the engine

  • Dude Felix Porteiro is a BMW Factory driver for the BMW Italy/Spain team in the World Touring Car Championship..

He knows how to drive.. I havent seen you driving in the GP2 class or in the WTCC like Porteiro? ;-)

There must be a reason that you havent I think so.. Maybe because you dont use a RACE ENGINE as it is supposed to be used? Push it to its limits.. Also the M1 is a rough and hard to handle car unlike the cars of these days

  • He may be a factory driver but he is useless driving a procar and it is obvious in the video.

Pushing a race engine to its limits has nothing to do with bouncing it off the rev limiter.

Also, the procar is not that rough and hard to handle.I own one and have been racing it for 15 years and that is not the way to drive the car

  • great car:)

  • terrible shifting, driver of the grass cutter

  • poor gear :(

  • Hat das Ding etwa einen Drehzahlbegrenzer???

    Aber recht netter Sound.

    Schööönes Ding!

  • Fantastic car, beautiful sound, TERRIBLE shifting! :(

  • Good video. But I seriously want to punch that driver in the face for bouncing the engine off the rev limiter so many times. Did none of those mechanics or engineers there tell him that is not good for that engine...

  • Indeed. Bad shifting. Worst driver.

  • He's hitting the rev limiter in places where he has no more track left to upshift and then downshift when braking for the next corner, that's why he stays on the same gear. Engines can take a more serious beating with no problems at all.

Anyway, this isn't a race, so he doesn't need to set any fast lap.

  • Obviously you know nothing about the M1 in a technical sense. This is 30 year old technology. A bit of a fragile engine IMHO. Why the hell does he hit the limiter on the straights while shifting? Totally unnecessary.

You're right. This isn't a race. WHY THE HELL IS HE KILLING THE CAR FOR NO REASON???

  • Well, I do know this car's engine was based on BMW's M30 engine, which is bulletproof, and on race specs it was capable of delivering over 800 hp (turbocharged). It may be 30 year old technology, but it is still a race car.

Still find no reason to repeatedly hit the rev limiter.

  • The only thing this engine shares in similarity to the M30 is the cylinder block. The M1 engine was actually based off of the old 24v motors used in the '70s racing Coupes, engine code M49.

Ask any decent engineer/racing engine builder, and they will tell you its not a good idea to bounce a high-rpm, big(~ish) displacement straight 6 cylinder engine off the limiter repeatedly.

  • This looks as a BMW event. If you think this gentleman's driving is so bad for this historic machine, perhaps you should address BMW Motorsport with a complaint.

BMW, however, seem pleased with him, as he's driving their cars in the WTCC.

  • I'm no rocket scientist but I'm sure he doesn't want to change his track habits regardless of the reason why he's out there.

  • woow!! its great video:o))
