great vid but MOST red lights use wiring under the road to detect the car in the lane it generates an EM felid and when something gets in that field it changes the light the OTHER types of lights rely on cameras now because they are cheaper sorry but the magnet this does not work
I would tape, tie or dangle the neodymium magnets to a plastic part of the scooter. Attaching to a large metal could scatter the magnetic field upwards towards the scooter. I would test it with a compass or something to be sure which method is best.
Good idea. Typically, we don't use the nickle plated for welding because they often die from heat. The black blocky ones are more reliable...great for harsh environments. I hack these from VCRs and speakers.
How do you keep it clean from all the ferrous rust and scrap iron chips, nuts, screws, wire scrap, wheel weights and so on from piling up on the magnet beneath your scooter?
I disagree with largeview about editing. One thing I really like about your videos is that you haven't edited away all of the little things. It's like you are right there talking to us. I wouldn't change a thing.
@largeview You are right. My youtube editing hero is kooktoCook, all of his cooking videos are only one minute long. I will try to be shorter in future.
does this really work?

so how does a magnet exactly make a traffic light change?

It's not always just magnetized to the plates - often, they are glued down.

wouldnt the heat from the sun and the motor degrade the power o f the magnet to stick to your scooter?

hasn't been a problem so far.

you said the harddrive magnet was to"wipe" the drive - you should try disassembling some hdd yourself to learn how it really works ;)
the magnet is the steady part of the linear actuator which moves the read/write head.
