After listening to different versions of Russia/Soviet anthems, the 1977 version definitely has the best lyrics. Although I dislike Lenin as a brutal leader, the lyrics "Partiya Lenina" is certainly the climax of the hymn. Also, the 1977 version focuses a lot more on Communist ideals, which is actually good. (I personally don't agree those so-called Communism carried out in USSR, PRC, DPRK, Cuba, Vietnam and what-so-ever are really Communism itself.

I was to Russia in January. I live in Austria but I am Armenian from Iran. I found people to be depressed and very angry, not friendly. Despite politics are no so important for me and I saw this video because this anthem it's musically beautiful, I have something to say..U.S government has done incredibly inhuman acts too... everything to defend selfish interests of a few ones around the world with the facade to bring "democracy and freedom" arround the world... In a capitalist economy, even if system gets corrupted it doesn't matter, economy would still eventually run, in a socialist system, which works for everyone, not just the richer, things would not work that good with corruption infecting the whole thing. Because you think corporations don't RUN america? You'd be wrong if so.

@Zukhov1945 Of course they do, and I agree with you in that. I am quite certain there is no stronger political force than lobbyism. I would never say that capitalism is THE economical system. However, I disagree with you in the point that a centralised economy is no source of problems. In fact, it and corruption correlate and create a monster of bureaucracy, which eventually had to collapse; efficiency had gradually sunk, and finally reached a critical point.

I am not against capitalism myself, i just don't like liberalism and the idea that someone has a better life without have earned it fully.

An individuality-minimalising policestate cannot afford a lower living-standard in comparison. Apart from the stalinistic "purges" and other crimes, the soviet union, due to the not-existing competition in planned economy, had lost connection to the technical progress, causing internal decay. The external debts were, like in all socialist states, insurmountable. Sounds like a great place..

After listening to different versions of Russia/Soviet anthems, the 1977 version definitely has the best lyrics. Although I dislike Lenin as a brutal leader, the lyrics "Partiya Lenina" is certainly the climax of the hymn. Also, the 1977 version focuses a lot more on Communist ideals, which is actually good. (I personally don't agree those so-called Communism carried out in USSR, PRC, DPRK, Cuba, Vietnam and what-so-ever are really Communism itself.

I was to Russia in January. I live in Austria but I am Armenian from Iran. I found people to be depressed and very angry, not friendly. People from Russia that live in Austria are always happy and friendly. Does anyone think this is because there is no more the Soviet Union?? Was situations better in that times?

@VigenTehranian Yes back in the Soviet Union life was going pretty good until couple of traitors ruined it for Hunderds of millions of people. Today many people are living in poverty. Only people living in Moscow and St.Petersburg are doing pretty good.

@VigenTehranian I think the best period was before Gorbachev. Then everything went downslope. They call the Brezhnev era the stagnation era, but even thought perhaps that Soviet Union was then not developing, at least it was not going backwards like when Gorbachev took over.

@balancedaustralia The biggest thing I see is that you translate Славься отечество, наше свободное as "Sing to the Motherland, home of the free." Russian doesn't translate PERFECTLY into English, but this should really be "Be Glorious, our Free Fatherland." It's an imperative statement, which is why. HOWEVER, the CPSU (Communist Part of the Soviet Union) actually has an officially approved English translation. Message me, and I'll send it to you!
