  • 130hp to the crank, so about 100-105whp. do i need to show you the math? sohc = SINGLE over head cam. so camshaft, unless you have a dual cam zc head.

    130hp stock engine + intake, portpolish(w/engine rebuild), plugsnd wires, headers, de-cat, almost straight pipe, ecu shit, cam, flywheel... .... ...

    = 137hp at the wheels :)

  • my bad didn't read that part. that's a pretty good bump in power with those parts. how aggressive is the cam and tune?

  • the cams were tuned by the previous owner... id say theyre pretty impractical.... a huge hp and torque drop below 2500rpm... the throttle response over 2500rpm feels amazing though...

  • must be a fairly aggressive profile, but even a stock D needs to rev to make any power or even cruise, unless you are playing with a vx or hx trans you rarely are bellow 2800 unless your are idling.

  • i have a 98 civic dx with a d16y7 and an auto tranny. if im doin a roll fro around 25 or 35 mph i stand a chance at a race against some cars but off the line i get smoked every time! I did try the neutral drops for awhile but after about $1,500 later my tranny said no more!

  • my non vtec was slow..hated that thing....15's never on...high 16's with good driving

  • i have a 129 bhp d16y7 coupe and its only running a full system :) and stock intake but hopein to do a vtec turbo conversion :)

Second, just because a hyundai engine has more power than a chevy motor doesn't mean it a better engine. The chevy 350 was used since the late 40's and is one of the most reliable engines on the planet. It makes a conservative 300-350hp. It's not hard to find a N/A LS1 with over 800whp. I doubt a b series can dotht

Regarding MY ls1, that I OWN, there is not enough power for the size of the engine. Its fast, sure, it makes a great noise, sure, but I need MO POWA!!! N that 800WHP LS1 is a death crap unless its a corvette...I took my trans am to 150 once and never again. Im more stable walking on a plank with 100MPH winds!!

  • thats such bullshit man. there is no freakin way in hell u hit 140 whp & got nearly 170 ft/lbs of torque. a d16z6s dyno at 105 whp MAX baseline, cams & individual throttle bodies will give u a MAX 25 hp with a good tune. to hit the others number in a sohc would be ALOT of work & u would need everything from high compression pistons, to valve work, to af/m intake manifold to good headers, intake, cam, ignition and a good chip well tuned + more... search around youtube my friend if u have doubts

  • No you wouldn't even hit that in crank hp. No way. your telling me you gained like nearly 20 ft/lbs of torque on those bullshit mods? ITB's do NOTHING on a SOHC. Hell they'll do nothing on a DOHC if the motor isn't set up for it. And ohhh a Zex cam.. probably net you about 6-7 hp. There is no way you would put down 137 whp too.

  • i had a d16y7 coupe now got a d15z6 vtec. if you have a d series try a 4 branch manifold makes a big difference in like kicks in about 3500rpm and sounds the dogs nuts too even with a standard system you can tell its been tuned mon the hondas
