What other options do they have as far as income goes? I think finding a solution to supplement their income would be a start in the right direction. Gosh this is so sad. What kind of person could eat a dolphin? The Japanese have a very harsh way of bringing up children and I think it just buries those feelings of compassion and guilt so deep that they end up heartless.

Your own government does not want you to know this! If correct labelling of meat was introduced in Japan no-one would be brave or stupid enough to eat it.
I assume you do eat it. It affects the brain as well as the nervous system.

The international whale commission has made the killing of cetaceans illegal. This includes dolphins.
The Japanese constitution also prohibits censoring, which the Taiji fishermen attempt to do.

@clownfishvideo Ric O'Barry/HEPCA said the 4 Taiji dolphins sold 2a city in Egypt August 2010- for $300,000 EACH... as in $1.2 million dollars! (Those are the 4 that were in the swimming pool). Another 5 were/are awaiting 2be exported but not clear if a) they can go as Egypt has now banned any non-captive born mammals 2be imported and b) if the 5 were paid for and/or at same price (another $1.5 mill if so).
So just these 9 dolphins could have raised $2.7 mill- how many are in nets now?

Although this is terrible, is it really that easy for these people to just stop? How many people have jobs doing this? How many people's families are supported by this? What other options do they have as far as income goes? I think finding a solution to supplement their income would be a start in the right direction. It's so horrible to look...but....if it causes me to take action, then it's good that I do so. Because not to look means not to acknowledge and hence, non-action results. They say a nation is judged by how it treats its animals but perhaps the human race as a whole should be held accountable.

Shocking. Disgusting. Why do they continue to do this? Even if for some insane reason they don't think of it as heartless and cruel, then can't they just stop doing it for health reasons, or is it their goal to have mercury poisoning?

Sending comments and thoughts of hatred to the people who do this kind of stuff will only engender more of the same behaviour - there is no personal way that I, in England, watching this can affect the situation except by lifting it to the light and asking for the people involved to clearly see the reality of what they are creating and choose differently. If you can affect it, do or say what you need to or forward this to people who can.

Dolphins are one of the worlds most intelligent and empathetic creatures. It breaks my heart to see them abused in such a way.
When will some nations grow up and 'evolve' into their other first world cousins? They are obviously years behind on the evolutionary chart to do this sort of stuff ;o(

Damn Japs! They are gonna get whats coming to them by eating that dolphin meat. The meat has alot of mercury in it, they are so damn stupid for eating it! They package the meat and mark it as whale meat. They have already found mercury in some of the children in Taiji. Several children have been born with birth defects because of it and some have died!

Gosh this is so sad. What kind of person could eat a dolphin? The Japanese have a very harsh way of bringing up children and I think it just buries those feelings of compassion and guilt so deep that they end up heartless.
Having said that, I'm English and in my country they hunt foxes for fun (it's illegal now but they still do it). I live in Australia and here people eat kangaroos. There's cruelty and savagery in all countries but this is the worst. :(
