i think it's based on the same thing as the flame mask seen in xXx. u know, in the rammstein scene. It's kind of like a sandbalster that shoots litteraly a type of pollen, calle lycopodium dust/powder. Look it up

u cant do videos in photoshop, as far as i remember...

but u can see it is real for many reasons,

camera brightness regulation, focus, glances, and reaction of pple, and if it would be fake it would be steady flame not in short bursts...

Actually, you can load video into photoshop and back to video using the "Filmstrip" feature, but the flame is real, it just didn't use a conventional gas flamethrower.
