I have a Q Ive noticed that occasionally when I'm on the brightness will dim. Its not a significant dim but It is noticeable. At first I didn't really pay much attention to it because I thought It was the censer that auto adjusts the brightness levels. Then a few days ago I was looking thought the menu and noticed that the that feature was turned off. Should I be worried? Is this a sign that the back light is dieing or will die within then next months/years or is it just normal for it to dim?

I think this particular model has been discontinued. Although some retailers still have a few available, most of the big guys like amazon and newegg no longer sell it.

I bought this model thru amazon back in March 2009. I can't speak about the reportedly crappy sound because I use separate speakers but I can attest to the awesome image/color/resolution and build of it. It is awesome. Yes. You are correct.

The ambient light sensor will automatically adjust the brightness level when your environment darkness. You can toggle between on or off in the monitor on-screen menu. I don't use it much, as I manually adjust the brightness.

it has a 700:1 contrast ratio...and its dynamic contrast ratio is 50,000:1, and fyi the hp's do actually look better, acer looks a bit washed out, sadly

I have both a Glossy and a Matte monitor and occasionally use them simultaneously and I would say that despite the fact Glossy can be glarey it is definately better, it's alot easier to look at for long periods of time and looks alot more dynamic.

You will see matte causes eye fatigue and damages your eyes after a while. My eyes has been destroyed by matte and now I see the massive difference with glossy.

Gloss is the most beautiful thing in the world because it absorbs all the light it don't scatter it like matte.

glossy is the future and only retards think glossy is bad just cause of a few reflections.

@MMATSdreadnautLOVER I totally agree. I have always had matte and last monitor I bought was also matte. If compared to glossy screen any matte is just awful. I had to compare side by side matte and glossy, when I was buying a monitor and I accidentally thought that some pictures look a bit better and more realistic. However, for all your needs, glossy screen is much more nicer and way easier on eyes. Matte layer makes everything too grainy and eyes have to focus alot. That sucks!

Glossy is better in the sense that it gives you much richer colours than the mat finish does, and they also look a bit more stylish too. The bad thing about them though is that they are VERY reflective. So if you have a window behind you, you're screwed and cant see anything. Then they suck.

I have the 22 inch version and a EVGA GTX 260... if they're any similar (and I'm betting they are lol) you'll be fine. Monitor came with VGA and HDMI cables. Graphics card is native DVI, but it comes with adapters for HDMI and VGA so you should be good. And in addition to the power cables and what not, you'll have to connect a USB (comes with the monitor) cord from your monitor to your comp to use any of the ports.

DVI: Basically, used for transmitting digital video

HDMI: Used for transmitting video and audio (usually 7.1) through one cable instead of seperate cables

Between DVI and HDMI, it all depends with you, They both deliver the same when it comes to video. If you have an HDMI connection, I recommend using it, it's just more cleaner than having several wires. (Only if you are not using a seperate speaker system)

Yeah it does mean you can, I bought this monitor mostly to play games on. I plug my PS3 right into the monitor, Also the monitor includes an HDMI cable. The PS3 also has the HDMI plug in. The 360 you need to buy the HDMI cable.
