Seeing how disappointed I was with Cars 2 and I don't think much other animated movies held up this year, so far, I'm voting Rango for Animated Film of The Year. It was incredible!

Crude, gritty, action-packed, funny, heartful, stylish and absolutely powerful in the story department.

And The Man With No Name's cameo blew me away. I went in with low expectations, considering it was a Nickelodeon film and came out so happy. Not quite for kids, but does it have to be? Rango is a movie lover's movie

This movie was NOT in 3D, which has been the norm lately.

The animation was as good, if not better than Gaurdians, which relied on 3D effects. The animation was so good that I started to forget that the characters weren't real. you can almost reach out and touch Rango's skin. Now THAT'S fantastic animation.

Gaurdians still looks too 'cute/clean' to be realistic. 'Rango' looks dirty, grim, and REAL.

Gaurdians was 'pretty'.

@Sakura06Chan besides, the two movies are by two different animation companies. comparing the two would be like comparing two artists with differing styles.

Gaurdians did not have 'superior' animation. 'superior' animation doesn't even need to be in 3D. they are both fine.

I also heard from the book lovers that if you read the books, don't watch the movie. This could mean they effed up the plot or something. Rango, despite all of its other movie references, still stands as an original movie.

@TheAdam1995 Only on the close-ups. They didn't look as good in the distance shots. Plus the environments lacked detail. So far "Rango" seems to have a more consistent visual style. Though they tend to put the highest quality clips in the trailers so there is know way to know how "Rango" will look as a whole.
