1 out of 7 live in poverty (2009) but that's really a joke because poverty is defined as $22,000/year for a family of four. Tell me, how do you live on that???? America has to be one of the worst places to be poor -- it lacks the community, infrastructure for subsistence.
Hate the wealthy? Give to the less fortunate? "Even the playing field" ?
Here are average yearly incomes of several countries:
Brazil $8,135
Venezuela $11,444
India $1,054
China $3,212
USA $45,835
To even the playing field, we must "de-develop the USA" , redistribute the wealth globally (take your income) vis cap and trade and other measures. How does socialism look to you now? It's not taking money from the wealthy -- it's taking your money!
There must be a way out of this nonsense given the vast resources of America.
I often defend America in various debates I happen to participate in over here in Europe, but my impression is that America actually is letting many of her sons and daughters down in the area of education.

The US is one of the richest nations on Earth.
Why is there still extreme poverty in America?
There must be a way out of this nonsense given the vast resources of America.

It must not happen.
