the longer 12" version is even better. this was a sort of new wave super group of its day made up of members of at least 3 other bands magazine ultravox and siouxsie and the banshees and its from 1981 not 82.
Yes, of course the influence of Midge Ure is apparent in this track. However, he joined Visage before joining Ultravox. For a time he worked with both bands but in 1982 he left Visage to concentrate on working with Ultravox. I don't believe this track, nor Fade to Grey, were ever intended to be Ultravox songs though in terms of quality they definitely were strong enough to be Ultravox songs, in my opinion !
Truly duff video. The best thing you can say about it, is that it's (unintentionally) hilarious! It just takes itself so seriously. The reason this is a Visage track and not Ultravox? Ure and Currie obviously realised it just wasn't strong enough melodically. What about Fade to grey?, I hear you say. Well they weren't about to make that same mistake twice!
@MisAnnThorpe New Romantic stuff was all about taking yourself way too seriously. I liked the era (I was a teen at the time), but I can only look back at it and laugh.
For me this sums up everything about the New Romantics and what an amazing phenomena it was, and makes me desperately wish i'd been around and involoved when it happened...
Believe me it wasn't as great as you think. The music was, but many of the people that dressed up and went out were knobs. Full of themselves and 'i'm too cool' kind of attitude.

Visage were miles better than Ultravox ... even if they weren't as commercially successful.
Wasn't Midge Ure once in Thin Lizzy ... so enough said there.

Love it, Steve Strange was way ahead of his time and pretty much paved the way for Boy George.
