The "tests" Ford is making comparing the Taurus to Lexus, Infiniti, Acura etc is plainly stupid. You can't judge a car on one extremely specific area against different cars each time. Its like saying an Accord with navigation, and all the other options is better than a BMW 5 series without the tech toys. The Taurus is a great quality car, they should be marketing it with some sense though.

Having owned an 07 Accord V6 and now an 09 MDX, I can state that Honda/Acura is NOT the benchmark when it comes to interior quietness in this segment. Ford should have done the 'Sound Check' versus a Lexus GS or Infiniti M.

MY friend just bought it SHO and I wasn't feeling really good. When you sit it feels so compact from inside though ride was OK. But Ford just started to recover and comparing to The Daady's of Quality car makers Acuras, Audi and Infiniti. Ford still doens't grown up. Yeah and the Taurus weighs 500 lbs more than the Acura RL, 3950 lbs vs 4450 lbs. Sure if you stuff as much sound insulation as you can in a car it will be quiet, but it will also add a needless amount of weight.

Well that 307 hp sounds nice and all (im guessing V8) but the ford has an Eco Boost 3.5 V6 and competed against the Audi A6 V8 in five 0-60 runs and 1/4 mile runs, and won every time. Now the Acura RL vs a Audi A6, I don't know but if ford can beat a audi with a smaller engine, that sounds good

My parents sell Hondas and Acuras. Nearly every day, we get one back because the steering wheels keep dismounting themselves. Last year, it was the brakes. The Acuras are crap. Honda doesnt spend much time on them because they dont sell as well as the Hondas. They dont sell many in other countries, either, because they are so expensive. They only make $2000 on every Acura they sell. They make $4500 on each Honda. Why would they spend a lot of time on the Acura anyways? Ford is now QUALITY.

interior noise is actually essential. I don't know why they are trying to take it like it's a bad thing. You need to hear in order to be aware of your surroundings. And even so the RL is VERY quiet on the inside. The interior is also much better and suspension is more refined as well as handling.You get what you pay for with either the Taurus or RL. But don't expect the Taurus to be as refined as the RL.

Oh it is something special. This RL is incrediblel. I was loading something into a new one the other day and HOLY SHIT! The interior is extremely well layed out. And the doors shut smoothly like a lubricated bolt action rifle. The amount of details in that Acura are unbelievable. They put their best in the RL and it shows! I dare you to go to the acura dealer and try one out. You will know immediately what I'm talking about. This thing is smoother than a mercedes.

A difference of 3 dDB is percieved as a doubling/halving in psycho-acoustic terms. If the difference is real, its a hell of a lot more than 5%...
