You could not be more wrong about the US aid to Israel. The US didn't become tight allies with Israel until after 1967, when they saw the scrappy IDF defeat 3 advancing armies, and considered Israel a perfect place to start influencing the ME.
The US would be much more hurt from a broken alliance with Israel. Do you really think Israel needs a 3 billion dollar defense deal that ties their hands behind their back & prevents them from unilateral action? Israel has other allies who aren't fools.
