Quite a few comments on here ragging on O'hare as not the best. Towing and recovery is an art, there is no "best" in art.

PD doesn't want any debris on the road, danger to the public, mud on the road, wasting time with methods that might not work, any more damage done to curb, shoulder, grass, gutter, drainage, wires, road surface, etc

PD want the tow truck to remove truck nice and clean and ASAP .. Like the tow truck operator said, no damaging the fuel tank or anything.. PD doesnt want to have to get the road cleaned afterward

No need for any of that if you carry a mining shovel. The hard packed snow that has turned to polished ice is the worst but once the shovel is under it you can get the ice up off the tarmac, it will come up in big slabs. If there is nobody around one can also urinate on the road AFTER the ice is up. Last winter I had to get up several square yards of ice in order to get started. Not difficult if you know what you are doing.

y'know..i have watched these monkeys when their show was on tv and they sure as hell didnt impress me. rough as all hell on equipment and lots of drama. watch them bring a rolled truck upright and do even more damage...they should come to alberta and watch the boys at cliff's towing do their thing.

Must have been a slow day. The music they que while they winch the truck out really doesn't match. It's almost like watching an ice cube melt.
