San Diego County USED to have five million population. I don't know what it is now; I split when the gitten-was-good. Yeah, so you're bound to have a few hundred thousand "bums," roaming the streets. Yeah, and then the rest are roll-a-tacos, yuppys and fags. Well yeah, I mean the Fed killed-off the hippie and life-style surfer population years ago. I mean, come-on folks, what do you want? Welcome to tiajuaina north. Yeah, breathe the black, smoggy air of "paradise," mexifornia.
@chuckolove Well, if you have enough money you can live in places like La Jolla or Cardiff. Anywhere north of the city is pretty nice. South or southeast of downtown....or the downtown area are just what you have said, trashy, vile, dirty mess that was planned that way to drive out normal people. Now you have such a high population of illegals that not many Americans want to live anywhere except up north....and that is turning into illegal alien territory too.....what is this country thinking?
Hey tickyul, as depressing as it might sound, it's actually much worse elsewhere. I've spent a year in San Diego and it's quite nice, despite the few empty buildings and a few homeless people around that parking lot around there. It's unfortunately MUCH worse in some of the older primarily industrial and manufacturing cities in the Northeast. Wherever you find the plants closing and the jobs disappearing, you'll find this.
@Tubes12AX7k Yes,I understand where you are coming from. I have lived in a lot of different cities over the years, some are much better run than San Diego. And yes, I am familiar with some of the true disasters that exist in the east and northeast, would never live in one of those cities. The fact is San Diego has put too many services for the bums in the downtown area, this is one of the reasons why it is so blighted, bums all over. San Diego really lacks leadership and vision, filthy city.
EVERY city, even the most thriving & wealthy cities has this. I've been to London, Paris, NY, Monaco, etc several times and I can confirm that stuff like this is everywhere.
Its not poorly run, its just how the world works. There could be many reasons why that building is empty. Perhaps it needs renovation of which is beyond economical repair, it's part of a long term plan, it's a holdup property for investment, legal issues, etc.
@wballe88 Well, I have lived in a lot of cities, there can either be an effective effort to improve the city, or nothing/ineffective guidance from the leadership. The amount of poor decisions has led to quite a bit of unneccesary decay in the downtown area. I have watched the empty buildings and bums pile up over the years. They cannot enforce rules in downtown when it comes to the bums, Aclu has threatened to sue. Bums urinating and defecating on the sidewalks, urine odors in a lot of downtown.
