Hmm, they still haven't gotten guitars to sound authentic as VST's, though this one isn't too bad, you can definately here the "midi-ness" on the higher notes. The fret sliding noise is really cool.
Future videos will sound better. The problem with this one is using the wrong speakers and camera. And you are right, you have to keep your notes in a certain field of play. In the upper registers, it sounds plastic.
They have come a long way, they just have a bit more to go. However, violins are sounding better and better as VST's, as are pianos. I am absolutely stunned at some of Synful Synths (ironic name if you are creating Gospel music) sounds. Even their horns sound convincing.
Wow, that is an amazing emulation! Especially the slide on the uppermost note. If there was a little fret noise in there it would be almost indiscernable from the real thing.
try looking up real guitar by musiclab they also do a strat version for electric sounds but strat doesnt sound as good unless through an amp program like amplitube or guitar rig
The guitar is from Nashville High Strung Guitars, which is loaded as a Giga instrument and not as a plug-in.
I've been trying out some plug-in guitars, but it's hard to get the real feel of the guitar sound just right. I'm going to also put more of these videos with better mic and camera, and do some comparisons of other guitar and string sounds.
Thank you HauAs! I want to post more on this order, but more for instructional purposes. My new camera will pick up the sound nuances better hopefully.
Very good!Nice sound!!This is gigastudio 3?I have gigastudio 3 and now i am thinking of buying 4!If you have the 4 please note the differences between them if you want! Also I would like to ask you about the keystation pro.How is the hammer action?I want to buy it but i heard that the action is very bad!is it true?please Reply to this comment.Thank you
Thanks so much. It is actually Giga GVI. I have 3.0 but do not use it. (Am going to sell it) Tascam is cancelling the whole Giga line at the end of this year. Doubtful that 4.0 will even be released...they aren't even going to give online support after Dec 1st. Very odd decision. BUT, I am very glad to have purchased both GVI and the prior versions.
As for Keystation Pro, I sold mine--wasn't impressed. Go with CME from Sweetwater. Good price, best keyboard I've ever played!
The keyboard is a controller - Keystation Pro. It doesn'thave any sounds of it's own. The sounds come through Gigastudio's GVI plug-in that has the sounds in it.
But I did talk to them at tech support and in fact it is true. I was very surprised that they didn't sell the rights to Komplete or someone else. Just letting it die as far as we know.
Tascam has ceased development of its GigaStudio sampler and all products that are related to it. These include the GigaPulse convolution reverb, the GigaViolin and the Giga Virtual Instrument. Sales and support for the products will end on December 31 2008.
But this was recorded on a cheap digital camera with terrible speakers and no effects. Once you record, effect and compress the sound, it does pretty good. However, someone with your talent will always hear the 'virtual' in this type of recording.
I'm considering getting the Tascam 1082 and it comes with Gigastudio 3, it sounds like a good program...is it like a software sound module like Yamaha's MOTIF rack with sounds in it already or do I have to buy plug-ins for it?
Mostly everything I play is just ad-hoc or impromptu. Kontakt I hear is very good. They both use similar technologies and the sounds are supposedly interchangeable.
"By the way: how to learn the technique to play guitar on a keyboard? It sounds really very 'guitarish' "
This is the hard part. Visualizing the guitar in your hand and keeping your fingers on the keys that make those same notes. Once you do it for a couple of days, it gets easier o sound like a guitar or violin, or whatever virtual instrument you are emulating.
GigaStudio GVI is a stand-alone product that you setup very quickly when it installs. This keyboard is USB so Giga finds it when it sets up and you choose it instead of a midi device. (You can also use this keyboard as a midi divice, although I recommend a different keyboard for better action than this one).
It's M-Audio's Keystation Pro. 88 weighted keys with all kinds of assignable buttons, sliders and knobs. It's also USB connectible to allow it to automatically conntect to your pc software, etc. They are only 399.00 new now.(sorry for sounding like an infomercial lol).
Yeah..there is a bit of digital in it, but when you effect it and the listener doesn't see you playing it, they don't normally think about it being artificial. Thanks for your input. I love getting constructive feedback. More videos are coming with a better camera and mic in order to give a better sound replication. Thanks!
Great acoustic sound. I use gigastudio orchestra but I'm still learning all the features available. I'm still learning about the home studio process and how to make this work proplerly.
Let me know if you have any questions on Giga. I have Orchestra, but use GVI instead, it seems to be more solid and easier to use as a plug-in for Sonar or Protools, etc.
In Sonar you will add an audio track, and set the input to the type of soundcard that you have. It's pretty cut-n-dry for this. Are you speaking of using a regular piano?
Very relaxing!!

I wonder if anyone has tried the Roland VG-99 with these samples/modelers?
Hagopn1 2 years ago
Hagopn1,
I would be willing to hear them. Roland makes very good equipment, but these are computer based samples.
If the Roland sounds are good, then it is likely possible to get them on cd or dvd to load into software synths.
larry1961 2 years ago
Hi Larry, I meant using the VG-99 as the midi controller for these samples.

The keyboard is a Keystation Pro but it does not have sounds. The guitar is a software in my pc called Jim Corrigan Nashville High Strung Guitars.
Thanks

It's actually Jim Corrigan's Nashville High Strung Guitars used within GigaStudio's GVI plug-in. It is a VST plug-in.
I will be selling this cd set very soon as I am going with a new technology. The strumming guitars are really cool!
