  • Doing the Africa face just became real.

  • My Name is Lisa.

    Thanks for the "Lisa" Tune.

  • Song is Love and Dreans !!!....))))

  • he's a very seasoned player. He knows what he is doing. He puts his sticottos and legottos where they need to be.

  • He's such a great inspiration with such a pure tone!

    -matts-

  • I'm openly jealous cause Chris Botti has a nice sound and I have in my lifetime played just as well but never got past a certain point - commercially. If you are a trumpet player he is the next step of Herb Alpert or Chuck Mangione. There is nothing "intimidating" about his playing. Listen to Diz or Doc or Faddis or Vizzuti if you wanna know what you can't do. If you think you can do this better than Botti have the balls to try. Don't hate him because he's there and you're not ! He plays pretty.

  • Aah chris Botti i like his sound.I admire

  • MMM yes u kept me warm tonight, and u may keep me warm all winter long;-)

  • If elevator music was this good, I'd never get off the thing. Rock it, Chris.

  • A menthol flavor of music with a dash of culture added to it. Refreshing.

  • I always loved Chris Botti's music ever since I was little kid. And I still do.

  • Very cool and smooth......

  • Is it just me or does this guy have no talent and belong on a forgotten soundtrack to you walking through your local mall?

  • @beta447 It's just you......

  • why the fuck is this nigga wearin red pleather pants

  • smooth.

  • i dont care what people say about him, he sounds great, and his music is great also, go eat a dick haters!

  • Why do people insist anything that is melodic and not just scattered everywhere to be pap or elevator music? Kids who are heavy into rap think Miles Davis and Billie Holiday are "elevator music".

  • This is what Kenny G. sounds like when you put his lines to trumpet.

Like Kenny G, Chris Botti may be paying his bills with this pap, but let's be clear about one thing; this is what gives folks the musical runs when it comes to this brand of what passes for jazz. If a groove as funky as this one fails to inspire a musician to ignite it with bop inspired riffs, you have to wonder where his muse is at. (Paying bills?)

    What a waste!

    I am Gangster Corleone

  • he can play just as smooth without that special mic

  • For the 20 people in the dislike bar, thats not a download button!

  • That microphone is specifically placed off the bell so that there's no additional "brassy" overtones. It just goes to show that every trumpet player has their own idea of what a horn should sound like. Mr. Botti, while I think lead trumpet players everywhere will agree you're not doing anything revolutionary for trumpets exactly, but may I say you are saving good music for future generations.

  • @Kickerinthehead Not really. It simply means hat they can avoid the big brassy harsh notes while performning in a cosy cafe/cabaret environment. More intimate experience for the audience.

  • @Malloyism Is that not what I said?

  • @Kickerinthehead Not quite mate. But I understand what u were on about though.,

  • Beautiful, wonderful .... and the beat ..

  • that is the sound i want to imitate!

  • What's wrong with you people?? That is just plain beautiful music! You jealous?

  • why do so many comments focus on "jazz"? the only question is: does it suit your taste? and it grooves (even in elevator!!!!) so listen and enjoy or switch off!

  • It's shopping music.

  • Aint he a good player??

I say so! Pure talent ther!!!!!

anyway can you guys check out my ballad? i played on trumpet in 8th gr? ty!

  • I saw Chris in concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He had a great band and many top flight guests. The audience was a mixture of people, but they were mostly caucasian, many with white hair. Chris is the only musician I have seen who could get this white audience to clap on 2 and 4 not on 1 and 3 as most older white people would do. He has a gorgeous tone on his 70 year old Martin trumpet. He's doing a lot for jazz and live performance of music.

  • go hate somewhere else.

this man is so much more of a musician than any of you will ever be

which is why you're posting trash on his videos

and he's in concert somewhere in the world tonight

  • Ha! Is there any recordings of Chris Botti playing Bop on Youtube? This is hilarious. Each to their own, but I couldn't sit down at a table and listen to this. I think the guy on shakers is keeping everyone awake. SHAKE IT BABY!

  • WOW.. This is AMAZING!!! =O

  • this is why jazz is only in elevators. and thats not even real jazz

  • this music made me so jealous that i jizzed my pants

  • You would think that if he counted Miles as one of his greatest influences, he would play jazz.

  • MAJESTUOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SENSACIONAL. Cuanto me gustaria ir a un concierto suyo...tengo fe que llegara ese momento. Mas éxitos...

  • like David Sanborn's Lisa better

  • who's playing drums in the beginning? cuz it's not that chick, she's motionless...

  • WONDERFUL!!!

  • OMG!! BOTTI AWESOMEEE!!!!!

    He is good trumpet player!!!!

Well, can you guys check out my ballad that I worked VERY hard on?

    I will appreciated comments!

    Thanks!

  • each musical note is a feel for the heart

  • Great music. I love it!

  • Simply beautiful you had me at the first note!

  • Does somebody know where did this performance take place? Did they record any cd in the day of this show?

  • This is what an honest to goodness chill pill sounds like in my head...and thats a good thing, relaxing and mellow, good stuff :D

  • But Boban Markovic is better !

  • I freind of mine turn me on to Chris and I don't recall Hearing him before!!lol But I can not wait to see him Here Locally!!~~!! This CAt is Great...Some else Below me Said Soothing,,But Much More..Thank you D>B>

  • loads of haters here, i think this is great

  • Poor you, I guess... Your name is self explanatory!!! I do love rock but this is "finesse", and completly out of reach for the ordinery musician... Thats why is cheesy for you, mate!

  • @rijovsky80 /ad,.ad./a,daw

  • @hitchcko Didnt get it... ???

  • I almost died from all the cheese :L

    VERY VERY cheesey song

  • @therockman3 Why, what makes it so?

  • man, this guy is the trumpet playing version of Diana Krall (bland) ......YAWN....

  • one of my all time favorite trumpeters..got his autograph a few years ago...and hey...my name is lisa...a girl can dream right? lol ;) he is adorable and has a very familiar twinkle in his eyes

  • I just love Chris Botti...as much as I love Bill Evans....and Sting....3 men I can live with! 8^)

  • The one jammin' the hardest is the guy with the shakers. LOL!!!!

  • I like Chris Botti's playing when he does the contempo-jazz, traditional jazz, but this here is like suicide music.

  • круто это что-то невероятное!!! +

  • and thats what we call elevator jazz ;D

  • @uvgdnvgduigvvvhidfui What floor is the ex lax on ,I need to take a poop after listening to this shit

  • @uvgdnvgduigvvvhidfui what? this is what we call a "Starbucks JAZZ."

  • @uvgdnvgduigvvvhidfui that is what I call relaxing jazz, after a long day it hits the spot!

  • @uvgdnvgduigvvvhidfui When do you ever hear elevator music that good. lmao

  • @uvgdnvgduigvvvhidfui fuckin true

  • very smooth. I like his trumpet sound very much. I wish I had a sound like that. Very full and mellow

  • Music at its best!

  • I saw Botti in steamboat Colorado. He's very good, but he's a bit full of himself..

  • @trumpetman338 how so? :/

  • magari kompoziciaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa dzalian

  • chido miringo

  • surely music is for listening pleasure if you don't then don't I like his cool style

  • Very Kool, always makes me breathe better

  • Nice player! If I heard that on the radio without seeing him I would think it's Freddie Hubbard. Very tasty!

  • Mr. Botti has a very soft and sensual touch with his music.

  • Yes!! very sensual like transfer sound from other space... I love Botti

  • After watching Chris Botti on PBS and knowing he came from the school of Frank Sinatra I was impresses with his style and talent. As of today I own all his Cd's and enjoy them everyday cant wait for a new one

  • While I respect your right to like or not like whatever you want, if you don’t like it don’t listen. Listen to what you do like. (See it is that easy) I for one love his music. It makes me feel good and want to be a better person with more patience… mellow, smooth. I like me like that. And I am not a touchy feely person. CB seems like a gracious person, I just saw his PBS show and he had no problem giving the stage to others. Looked like fun I wish I could have been there.

  • The whole smooth jazz genre is repititious, aritificially "moody," and uninspiring. Botti in particular I find boring. It's like watching a model posing as you listen to him play.

  • @SteveFallon1 so why u listen?

  • @SteveFallon1 You're talking too much, but you're not listening. I'm sure that there are other jazz genres and players that could suit better the word 'complexity', for example Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny, John Scofield; even the fusion players like Allan Holdsworth...but you need to tell your soul to enjoy this as well. According to the situation that I am in, I listen to a determinate genre...If I need to relax, I would choose this every day.

  • @SteveFallon1: Most of it is just generic, white-bread Jazz. Chris Botti went for a romantic sound that had a bit more order to it; this does not make his music bad for that reason. I will say that it serves well as great background music during a date.

  • The whole smooth jazz genre is repititious, aritificially "moody," and uninspiring. Botti in particular I find boring. It's like watching model posing as you listen to him play.

  • Yeah Its Like a plastic cup of cheap champagne with a straw,on a december night watchhing youtube, leaves you alone and pissd az trying to find another vid of that hot buggle boy CHEERS!

  • CHRIS BOTTI E SIMPLESMENTE FANTASTICO

  • Makes me want to shop forever, and then take a milk bath.

    Chris Botti = Affluent swizzle

  • does anyone know where i can download this concert ?

  • I don't know if I can add anything else here but I like to join on the band wagon on this one. He is the only trumpet player that I have heard I truly like because he actually plays the type of Jazz I like to hear which is smooth, smooth and smooth. And even when it is smooth it has a pleasant beat to it. But not only that, he is too a great musician who can play the trumpet. I know I have heard of all the other ones, but Chris Botti sill has the technique and he plays it smooth with class!

  • Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. I can listen to "Lisa" all day. All of Chris B. music speaks to the soul.

  • this music makes me want to make love hahaha

  • why the hell I gave up playing trumpet...

  • @acosebede you can start again =) it's never too late

  • @3litka I'm too awesome on guitar, and I sold my trumpet :/ it is to late for me...

  • great

  • great

  • He is just average. Many of his notes are flat. It's almost painful. Listen to Jon Faddis for some good trumpet -- in tune.

  • @ad8fingers and why then are you not there and he is?

  • @ad8fingers different style....total different styles...you can hear the black man style and the white man style....

  • @robertone10 tsk tsk

  • @ad8fingers jon faddis is ok if it is his old stuff, and this guy isnt bad just simple and repetitive. if you want good trumpet jazz listen to arturo sondoval, bill chase, and dizzy...

  • ...!

  • chris botti . . . great

  • Who gives a shit who you think is better-Chris is great-PERIOD!!!! All this"so-and-so is better classically, better technical stuff", blah-blah-blah. Who says Wynton is better?? My favorite trumpet player is Herb Alpert, and some shit-head will get on here and say," Oh, Maynard has higher range, and Wynton's classical work is much better"--just listen to the damn music and shut up !!!!!

  • whats with the happy black guy?! is he hyperactive or what?

  • I have a request. Can anybody who plays the trumpet upload a tutorial of this song... I bought a trumpet 3 days ago and I can go like do,re,mi,fa,sol,la,si,do and I'm watching some tutorial videos that show how to control breath while playing etc. and I want to learn a song. and I think this one is not that complex, i guess. What do you think?

  • @dolunaydainsanolan The hard part about this song is the way it is played anyone can play lisa but when you put the emotion behind it you will never have a match and i myself am a trumpet player and have tried to recompose this and am not successful if you picked up the trumpet 3 days ago it will take you a while before you will be able to play this unless you have a brass instrument background and played the trumpet earlier in your life.

  • Qué delicia! <3

  • Average

  • @decus69 Average? Are yu serious???

  • @guitarsrmine to be honest . I thought I should check him out and did. I didn't hear anything special? I listen to Gillespie,Fats , Brown,Little,Hubbard, Dorham and a lot of the modern cats. After those guys... yeah average. Special hair-do though.

  • @guitarsrmine yes,why?

  • @decus69 Because average he's not !! Youre probably one of those Maynard/Sandoval/ Hession lovers-only think screamers are good. This guy oozes emotion from the 1st measure, which in case you didnt know, is the MOST important aspect to music, not technique, not range, not blistering ear splitting solos. You better listen again, andif you play trumpet, you better re-evaluate your own ability!!!

  • ♪♪♪ simply amazing!

  • ♪♪♪ simply amazing!

  • para mi el es uno de los grandes representantes del jazz y sin duda de la trompeta espero poder verlo algun dia!

lastima que en mexico son muy pocos los k gustan de esta musica

  • That's true, i agree with daynelmarzo

  • he plays with emotion

  • great

  • All are good musicans, respect the music that they are playing. If it makes you feel good then just sit back and listen. If you don't like it you have all the right to find something that appeals to your listening pleasure.

  • Good Trumpet player, good style, good Composer/Arranger, therefore GOOD MUSIC....No doubt..He's one of the best styled Trumpet player......

  • wynton who??????

Hello, did you all just wake up yesterday??

Show some respect to Miles Davis.. Please.

  • Comment removed

  • You're not only wrong, you're an asshole.

  • Its not live, but sound Engineer version.

  • Man everytime I watch and listen to this it always making me relax..... :) awesome music.

  • OKAY Sports Fans... It's time once again for Musician Celebrity DeathMatch...

In the red corner , Chuck Mangione

And, In the BLUE corner, Chris Botti (DON'T pronounce it Boddy)

Who could kick who's ass... and WHY?

Keep in mind your answer is not valid unless you specify WHY your man is the winner.

Hahaha... Lippy Louie in the audience at the very end...

  • TE AMO CHRIS BOTT........

  • Awesome !!

  • Yeah don't be stupid. This guy is the kenny G of trumpet. Sweet. Proficient. Great player. One of THE greats? Not a chance in hell. Like daynelmarzo posted: go check out some real trumpet players like Freddie, Lee Morgan, Dizzy, Clark Terry, etc.

You'll feel like a dumb ass for posting what you did, but at least you'll begin to be educated.

  • i love anything that Chris Botti does....my favorite trumpet player

  • GET OFF CHRIS!!

  • We must learn to appreciate the value of each gift instead of merely comparing them. When this is accomplished, we are then enabled to experience the boundless horizons of artistic beauty.

  • i like his style of playing, its nice and so relaxing...

  • Female drummer is so sexy....

  • Nice.

  • You all disappoint me, is music supposed to be a competition like a soccer game or something? Everyone is comparing trumpeters like they were quarterbacks or something, as if they were trying to defend their musical idol like art was a simple game with winners and losers. People do it with saxophonists, guitarists, and drummers alike, and I'm sick of it.

  • my opinion Chris 5 ***** the rest and some 4 **** Freddie Hubbard4/5 star Chris soft Elegant Contemporan Music

  • @829zoli fuck you ass hole. seriously, thats the most offensive thing ive ever heard.

  • This guy is a bad copy of Kenny G, he needs to listen very Miles Davis to try to play the trumpet ^ ^

  • His trumpeting techniques are a cross between Chet Baker and Miles Davis, but he still has his own style. He is just so smooth on the trumpet.

  • Chops don't mean anything if you can't send a chill up someone's spine (unless chops send a chill up your spine, lol). Botti can do that.

Marsalis, Sandoval, etc can as well, but they have that extra gear that Botti doesn't.

  • i aint much into jazz but dis som good mello chillout shit,

  • Even though I love the screaming trumpets and the bright ripping jazz leads, this stuff just gets to my core. I would trade my current chops to play like this anyday.

  • I waited on him and 2 band mates at our restaurant last night, and they were so nice, and SUPER FUNNY!! Very down to earth and fun, good tippers as well! It was very refreshing (I've waited on a few celebs and he was by far the best!)

  • Nobody can say one trumpet player is better than another for a few reasons 1) Where one person lacks another can make up for..ex. One may have an amazing tone but another could reach higher pitch or play more complicated music. 2) One player could have more experience thus putting the others at an unfair advantage 3) Some may have died before they out did another or didn't have their chance to make it big......its all a matter of time..somewhat

  • Non ci sono parole.......chiudi gli occhi e poi.......

  • Chris Botti is my idol ... Maybe he is not the best trumpet player in the world but he put soul in his music and i think this is the most important thing for an artist ... BTW did any1 know on what trumpet he is playing in this video ?

  • too bad chris botti is a terrible trumpet player

  • if you think he sucks than what are you doing listening to the you tube clips and commenting on them. what a bunch of snobs.

  • @Blackbear147 Opinion: im the best trunpet player in the world. Its not true, of course, but we're all entitled to our own opinion, and in some ppls opinions Botti is the best. And at new age techy trumpet, he just might be.

  • прекрасное исполнение. манера и тембр. молодец!

  • His just a money maker. I suggest who said his the #1 to listen to Roy Hargrove, Nicholas Payton, Terence Blanchard, Jon Faddis, Wayne Bergeron, Wynton, James Morrisson, Adam Rapa, Terrel Stafford... and the list goes on.

  • There are at least 50 trumpet players better than Chris Botti. And just somebody stupid could compare him to Wynton Marsalis.

  • And Daynemarzo-Ive been a musician for 40 years,30 of which Ive played professionally. Now, there are people who have told me that "You're the BEST"an that certainly isnt why I play-I play guitar, bass guitar, trumpet and keyboard. The fact that people enjoy my music is what matters, and Ive been blessed with a gift from God! I couldnt care less if someone says Im the best-thats not why I do it!

  • I happen to dig Botti-also Herb Alpert and Phil Driscoll-all diffeent stlyes, but all extremely great musicians. Im not gonna blow a bunch of smoke claiming FACT tat these guys are better than so-and-so. I love their music, . And daynelmarzo-is it a fact that Wnnton plays classical better than Chris, and when was the last time he played classical, or is it a CHOICE? Al Hirt is an incredible player . Your observations are strictly OPINION!

  • thanks

  • Thiught he was playing autumn leaves for a second there.

  • first time ive heard of chris botti and i must say i love it, gonna be listening to him more now!! i love the bit at 3:58-4:21!!!

  • Best trumpet! nice video...

  • Anyone knows who the girl at drums is? She looks really pretty...

  • This concert was at the El Rey Theatre in LA (December 3rd 2001) to celebrate the release of Botti's Columbia Records debut Night Sessions. You can watch this concert on dvd, Chris Botti & Friends, Night Sessions: Live in Concert.

  • god it's so smooth

playing that sultry is on par with screaming high all the time

    soooooo smooooooooth

  • Beautiful song,)) I love,,,jazz

    kissessss'' for you chris Botti>;

  • where is this performance? what a great funky jazz session. where can i get all the recordings????
