Some video games are not good others are excellent, dont be so dismissive of something that is used by airlines,military, police, merchant marine and medical personal to train personal. Sims have their value. Many of todays young racing drivers along with Karting are better because of Sims.
The laptime I found for a 1989 (5-speed) 930 was a 9:05, which sounds about right. Unfortunately you can't trust everything on the internet, but that sounds like it'd be close for a stock 930.
yeah, unfortunately, i had to use the camcorder at the time. now i use some USB thing called a GameBridge that has standard video inputs (no HD) and the software to record direct off your console or anything else you see fit.
I used the Logitech Pro whatever wheel with GT4 (the 900 degrees of steering one). The physics were worse than GT3, imho. However, I have loved all Porsche's, in all games, and if I had to play GT4, it was always with a Porsche, or Subbie. :D
I'd love to get into rFactor sometime, but I need a better setup to run it without any framerate skip. Its still a lot of fun to play, but I couldn't play it seriously. :)
