the thing that i hate is nobody understands what its like! I have it, its terrible. when I'm off my medicine i feel amazing but once i do something like crazy with my family like chase my friends around or play tag, i get yelled a and everyone tells me to CALM DOWN like I'm some animal. ADHD is very annoying to have but I'm willing to live my life with this disease and try to be happy
True story. I have ADD and it is nearly impossible for me to understand what my teacher is talking about even if I try to focus really hard. Ironically, I have amazing hearing and if my mom is talking downstairs while I have my door closed and my earbuds in my ear and she talks about food, I will definitely respond.
Their is no such thing as ADHD! Just a bunch of people that doesn't have self control or manners. Stop poisoning our kids with meds that turning our kids into zombies.
@alex74492 You don't, it stays forever. I have it but after reading more about it and getting to know what it causes to me its a bit easier to control
i have adhd.and i am 27. before wheni was around 4 or 5 when i was diagnosed. it was coffee that slowed me down. iw as very hyper and hard to control. thing and thoughts were tough to straighten out. even now i do get spurts of times when i am overly excited and become hyper. but as the years have passed it has gotten to the point where i no longer require medication to help focus. i believe in time all adhd diagnosed persons will be able to control themselves to a degree.
I have ADD, and I am actually proud of it. Because I've had to work harder in school and I've worked hard to do really well. But for kids who don't have ADD or anything, they struggle and complain about how hard school is, when they really don't have anything to complain about compared to me and other kids with ADD/ADHD. So I'm proud of my disability.
i have been dealing with this stupid disease since i was born, i remember in 1st.. grade, I was on the floor crying, writing I WIL NOT INTERRUPT DURING CLASS in the corner. Sometimes I Will Be Taking A test and just rip some of my hair out because of frustration, they start to cry. im taking pills for it, but they make my head hurt, i constantly feel like im gonna throw up, and sometimes even faint. My friends think im full of crap, even though they i go to a doctor for it.
I have tried three medications for ADHD throughout the course of my life: Ritalin, Concerta, and another pill I cannot recall the name of. All three had adverse side-effects on me, and I had to stop taking all three because they were so unbearable. On medication, my creativity was stunted, my anxiety was through the roof, and I nearly failed gr. 10. Off medication, I am an honours high school grad, and I have written a full-length novel. Meds don't fix things, they just mask the problem.
whatever the medication they tried giving me it made me shake i would see double and seem lifeless/emotionless and my freinds would make jokes about me for example ( hey you see gage over there hes like a zombie i bet if you poked him he would fall over) for what so i could focus in school 0.o no every time my parents would come home with the drugs id take them and throw them down the drain until one day they caught me in my act so i told them of my problems and it was decided adhd was better
This rly isnt even a big deal. if someone i first met says they hav ADHD no one cares, its not hard to live with at all, i hav ADHD and i can control myself without meds, although i used to take meds, but the only problem i hav is procrastinating on projects and hw... no one thinks its a big deal i hav no idea why sum of u think it is, everyone who just found out about this, dont feel bad, thank you for the support tho, but there is no reason to feel bad, we're fine and live with it

my boyfriend his son has adhd and they had him on ariddlinn think how it is spelt but anyway when they took him off of it he was droling and he couldnt walk i also live with adhd myself
i have ADHD and its really annoying cause none of the teachers can teach me! im on Ritalin and shiz but i can still control myself, but my doctor refuses to boost the medication! so im really naughty at school and i get really far behind! its really annoying! my mums had to go in nearly every week to complain about a teacher cause they a mistreating me and not understanding i need a little extra help!
@MrKookoodude ADHD drugs that contain anphetamines, such as Adderall, can cause insomnia which is probably why your friends have bags under their eyes.

@cooldit1 There are three types of ADHD. People are either predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, predominantly inattentive or have a combined form of the disorder, exhibiting symptoms of both of the hyperactive-impulsive and the inattentive type. The predominantly inattentive type used to be referred to as ADD.
I have ADHD as well, ever since I was a kid. When my parents first figured out they got me to ALOT of programs so by the time I got home I had already used all my energy. And school seems pretty simple, I don't pay attention much and I get like...80s all the time. Does all ADHD kids are really smart, or just me?
I can BARLEY pay attention in school, distracted easily, barley sleep because I can't stay in one spot, also, I am super creative and everywhere and sometimes i wonder if I'm the only person in the world and everyone else is just robots that heaven sent from above to make me feel less lonely... I have ADD/ADHD and it's hard to control. I can't control what I think, it's weird. But I've never ever considered Ridalin, and neither has my dad. it sounds body-damaging and disgusting.
@ohdanglindsy no. dude don't do it, i traded all mental sanity and happiness for good grades. be careful man. better to be a little hyper and innattentive than INSANE. trust me. i was diagnosed and put on pill after pill after pill 5 times over. if you like being able to laugh, make jokes, or feel comfortable around good friends, don't take it. and i know what you mean by "cant control what you're thinking" add pills it will be worse. if you want to know more, you can message me.
im 22 and was recently diagnosed with ADHD/ADD. my doctor said i have more of ADD however
i apparently went un diagnosed all through school. i had most of the symptoms but i guess my teachers overlooked some of them
in high school it became worse 4 me and i never knew what 2 do
i started on concerta, but im being taken off of it 4 a while
i also was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. and my moods have not been stable so i have to stop the ADHD medication until my moods are better controlled
I don't care if the medication worked or not...what happens is that these people are living happier...and if it actually does work then thats a blessing
thats because it is, While not life threatening it is a very serious condition and i believe it is classed as a mental health problem in some countries.
lol...you guys believe everything your told. It's pharmaceutical companies exploiting a minor problem to sell drugs, cant you see that? Yes, i was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD at age 7 back in 1993. I grew out of it. Just give your kids some time and be understanding. Today, i would call it fake.fake fake.
@phct. I was diagnosed around 1998 when I was about 7. I am currently 18 and still suffer from the symptoms of ADHD. I have not grown out of it. I would like to but I most likely won't. I can't concentrate in my college classes. I even experimented with going off my medication and the consequences of that were not good. I would like to remind you that some of us who were diagnosed as children never grew out of it. Its called Adult ADHD. I think you have heard of it before.
@lraid809 adhd never goes away ,when your older you can handle it better from the outside but inside it stays . but be yourself no matter what they say!
@phct If it's fake then why does the NIHM study so a massive difference in Glucose Metabolism in the brains of Patients, and reduced Dopamine activity? Hard to fake something like that. Especially since NIHM is not linked to Pharma.
i DONT KNOW IF I HAVE ADHD OR NOT!! i have a big imaginations ..... sometimes i tihnk im someone else .. when im totally bored ... i lay on the bed an imagine stuffs .. it kinda been annoying since i was 6 .. i use finger to make people and now with the mind... and i love making movies .. and i hate math .. i dont understand it and its just too mindbreaking :S.. am i having ADHD ???
@treeofmedia i think you have it,becouse people with adhd are really inventive, creative and easy to imagine things(this is with the thing that you get more creative)
@treeofmedia ADHD (Attention Deficet Hyperactivity Disorder) is simply a psychological term for behavioral patterns that indicate an individual with problems maintaining focus and often seem as though they're always wanting to have their mind else where. This is often times associated with learning disabilities, but shouldn't be looked at as a physical disease, but simply describing the pattern between gathering information and applying one self to life.
@treeofmedia add/adhd --when someone talks to you .. you hear what the ppl in the back ground say and can make out what they been talking about... but the person that was talking to you int he first place.. you only heard half what they said.. thats 1 example... or if you cant sleep because your mind thinks about 15 difrent things within a minute.. every night
Yes consult your doctor to get the official word, however you started at 6... which is when ADHD generally starts, and I have ADHD and we have stuff in common.
hey mate ;) i am 21 years old , i have only been in school 4 years cause i had problems with everything , the only thing i wanted to do was go out and play and show my penis in class and do fuckt up shit like that ...
i got kicked out from 9 schools and they all said that i have ADHD but my parents didnt wanted me to give me the medicin for it cause they believe in scientology .. and now im finaly getting the meds and it helps
@treeofmedia .. i have the same thing , and yes i am diagnosed with adhd :P i used to have also fantasi friends when im in the bus or car .. and amagining that my team are fighting the evil team , and i can do all those crazy magic stuff ... like fireball and freezing people .. :P and think about it , im freakin 21 and i cant take life serius ..
@treeofmedia i dont think, you have ADHD, because even i hate math, but i get straight A's at it, I have a freind of mine who has ADHD, he is so Hyper and his Kinda Violent at some point, and everytime i got to school with him, he cant do his homework, he even swears, he dosent listen to anybody and has trouble focusing. The point is I have big amagination, which is absolutly amazing, and no thats ADHD. But the things you said, i can only in a fraction included something about ADHD is 1 of 10.
Let me tell you, everybody who doesn't believe in ADHD has no idea what it feels like. I don't take pills or anythng, and you don't even have to take pills! (not like you would know) Sometimes it will just go away. So you guys really need to think about how we feel. Not knowing, how to listen, not being able to solve simple puzzles, yea, how would you feel if everybody thought YOU were stupid? What can you really say to that?
why does it seem like there wasn't even anything like ADD before they made up medication for it? i'm pretty sure that soon they'll come out with something along the lines of "medication for breathing". they'll tell you and sell you anything to make just another penny. if some attitude does not suit our society's current goals and way of life, it gets slapped as a "disorder" and there's "something wrong with you". then they give you medication to help whip you back to order
Hmm, you may be catching on to something here. Maybe, just maybe, as time progresses-- new things are discovered. A fascinating find, 1337DementedOne.
ADHD IS MADE UP!!!!!!!! mothers and fathers just have to teach their children to listen and observe and learn!!!!! it is not sumtin ur born with. IT IS LEARNED. IT CRIPPLES UR CHILD
I'm sorry omgomg855, it appears you're completely incorrect. For some reason I doubt that you're more educated on the disorders of the human mind than the entire psychiatric community including the American Psychiatric Association and the DSM-IV, the world's most respected manual for clinical and counseling professionals in psychology. The idea that brain deficiencies in dopamine and norepinephrine are "learned" is one of the least intelligent things I've heard in pretty long time.
erbelgerbels you can't win . You are right, but you cant win. When people make statements in opposition to the known mental health science they are showing that they have the inability for rational thought. you are using logic. would you use logic on a cat? These people have never gone to school to learn ADHD, they just sit and fume at the "man" and try to argue anything that comes from mental health experts as if they are envious at the success of these experts. so they try to discredit them.
Interesting comment. I only have my child's best interest in mind. I would NEVER do anything that I thought would destroy his future. Everything we do for him is to help his future. If what you are doing with your child is working, then that is great. Not every treatment works for every kid. You need to trust your doctors, and your mother's intuition. Brad is happy and healthy and thriving. We have made the right decisions. Thank you for caring so deeply.
It depends on the patient. Maybe it didn't do nothing for your kid except "destroying his future", which I really really REALLY doubt it has! My life changed when I was put on Ritalin, everything was clearer and I felt normal. Maybe medication isn't the way to go with your kid, but don't go around telling people that "medication it's destroy his future. ", or at least spell it right if you are going to do it. Medicating can work for some children, and for some it won't, but don't discourage it!
a girl should love you no matter what i had a dear freind with aspergers , he just needed to fit in but it didn't happen i just hope he's all right now.
@shakaron12342 You can't have both ADD and ADHD!. I have ADD. One is the inibality to pay attention for long periods of time unless something intrests you. ADHD is the inability to sit still for long periods of time. Get your facts straight and stop diganoising your self.
OH, no! Even if you DON'T have ADHD... any KID (or human, for that matter) needs to have an outlet! Surely there is something you can do at school or around town!
I love the fact that this video dont setts adhd in a bad light! I look at adhd as an possitive thing, offcourse its some factors that makes it difficoult, but in the big picture i think is a good thing.
I get hyper but I still have an attention span. Ooooo, a clock, WOW. I comepletely forgot about the clock after I observed this beautiful monitor in front of me. Wow! Oooo, another clock.
its good that you started you son on the medication early i am 14 and i have recently just started the medication and it changes me terribly makes me not as humorous and alot more anti social. might just be me but some other people have told me of symtoms like this well good luck with your son.
amphetamines/stimulants, no wonder mom you can get everything done around the house now, b/c your flying high on speed. Wait till you try to get off of the meds and then you'll notice how much you have depleted your dopamine and norepinephrine receptor sites, then you'll see what depression feels like.
You are missing the point. A person with ADHD has different brain chemistry, so the meds affect them differnetly. They do not 'speed' up, but rather help them slow down and stay on task. It has nothing to do with feeling high or being addicted.
i have adhd and it is hard to control your behavior when you dont have your medicine beileive me i was sent to the hall 3 times in a day when i forgot mine lol
i cant stand it when some people say that if you have ADHD then that means that your not a regular person!!!! thats not true!! ADHD kids are just like regular people. [i have ADHD]
Many people with ADHD finds it gets worse as they age -- contrary to widespread myth.
The problem is that life tends to get more complicated as we age. First the job, then the mortgage or housekeeping, then children maybe, perhaps an aging/ill parent, etc. When it all piles up, it requires more of the brain's Executive Function.
Moreover, the cumulative stress of living with unrecognized/untreated ADHD can have a negative effect on the brain, too.
I don't necessarily believe that it gets worse. I think it remains consistent in intensity, but as life increases in difficulty, it becomes easier for things to fall apart.
i desagree, in some cases the person (if not treated or aware) can worsen due to the life style of downward spiral that deteriorates the capacities of the person.
I am 38 -been diagnosed with ADHD and later told I didn't then recently told I was. The trouble is that I have allways been high functioning. I knew how to cheat, forge signatures as a child, as an adult I had trouble with certain jobs because -entry level positions focus on grunt-work and addvancement is base on how skilled you are with really mundane tasks. As I matured I fought it and have done well. Though after a stressfull day I get home and the sound of the phone drives me crazy sometimes.
I have ADHD and I think it's awsome =D My friends are afraid of me lol [when I don't take my medicine cause, of course I start tiwtching and just randomly yell and hit the table, when all the energy wants to burst out at once lol]
my daughter is 14 and has ADHD! It makes evryday a struggle. WHat bothers me most is when ppl make comments that they r just BAD kids! its not true! They have impulse control problems, and it doesnt matter how many psychologists I work with about behaviour management and techniques, they all fall away! (in our case anyway!) Its very difficutl living with ADHD! ITs a daily struglle!
the thing that i hate is nobody understands what its like! I have it, its terrible. when I'm off my medicine i feel amazing but once i do something like crazy with my family like chase my friends around or play tag, i get yelled a and everyone tells me to CALM DOWN like I'm some animal. thats because it is, While not life threatening it is a very serious condition and i believe it is classed as a mental health problem in some countries.

lol...you guys believe everything your told. It's pharmaceutical companies exploiting a minor problem to sell drugs, cant you see that? Yes, i was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD at age 7 back in 1993. I grew out of it. Just give your kids some time and be understanding. Today, i would call it fake.fake fake.
phct 2 years ago

Then maybe you were misdiagnosed. You don't grow out of nor newly acquire a condition that is neurological. You either have it or you don't.
crazybanshee74 2 years ago
@phct If it's fake then why does the NIHM study so a massive difference in Glucose Metabolism in the brains of Patients, and reduced Dopamine activity? Hard to fake something like that. Especially since NIHM is not linked to Pharma.

vegard125 1 year ago
@treeofmedia ADHD (Attention Deficet Hyperactivity Disorder) is simply a psychological term for behavioral patterns that indicate an individual with problems maintaining focus and often seem as though they're always wanting to have their mind else where. This is often times associated with learning disabilities, but shouldn't be looked at as a physical disease, but simply describing the pattern between gathering information and applying one self to life.

ADHD IS MADE UP!!!!!!!! mothers and fathers just have to teach their children to listen and observe and learn!!!!! it is not sumtin ur born with. IT IS LEARNED. IT CRIPPLES UR CHILD
omgomg855 2 years ago
I'm sorry omgomg855, it appears you're completely incorrect. For some reason I doubt that you're more educated on the disorders of the human mind than the entire psychiatric community including the American Psychiatric Association and the DSM-IV, the world's most respected manual for clinical and counseling professionals in psychology. The idea that brain deficiencies in dopamine and norepinephrine are "learned" is one of the least intelligent things I've heard in pretty long time.
erbelgerbels 2 years ago
erbelgerbels you can't win .

You doing great!But!
GET OUT OF MEDICATION!!!!!! I Have child with AHDH.
If you doing right , and look you are, they DON"T need medication it's destroy his future.
alexei3333 2 years ago
It depends on the patient. Maybe it didn't do nothing for your kid except "destroying his future", which I really really REALLY doubt it has! My life changed when I was put on Ritalin, everything was clearer and I felt normal. Maybe medication isn't the way to go with your kid, but don't go around telling people that "medication it's destroy his future. ", or at least spell it right if you are going to do it. Medicating can work for some children, and for some it won't, but don't discourage it!

I love this video (and the other ones you posted on ADHD) I have ADHD, diagnosed in my early 20's.
It really tells you about ADHD without all those negative myths, but also doesn't glorify ADHD. Yes ADHD has it's bad sides, but also good sides.
I wish people would stop telling people with ADHD they are drug addicts because they take medication.
Thanks to my medication I am able to go to school again, something I wasn't able to do before, (to my suprise I'm actually very good at learning)

amphetamines/stimulants, no wonder mom you can get everything done around the house now, b/c your flying high on speed. Wait till you try to get off of the meds and then you'll notice how much you have depleted your dopamine and norepinephrine receptor sites, then you'll see what depression feels like.
derek2653 2 years ago
You are missing the point. A person with ADHD has different brain chemistry, so the meds affect them differnetly. They do not 'speed' up, but rather help them slow down and stay on task. It has nothing to do with feeling high or being addicted.

I was 35 years old when I finally found out I have it. My form of ADHD gets worse as I age, and is not as it is assumed getting better as an adult.
Excellent video!
SpinergyDude 3 years ago
Hi there,
Many people with ADHD finds it gets worse as they age -- contrary to widespread myth.
Gina
ADHDRollerCoaster 3 years ago
I don't necessarily believe that it gets worse. I think it remains consistent in intensity, but as life increases in difficulty, it becomes easier for things to fall apart.
powellpicc1985 3 years ago
i desagree, in some cases the person (if not treated or aware) can worsen due to the life style of downward spiral that deteriorates the capacities of the person.
