Skateparks are no problem using the curve tool and I can even add animation to it. For detail work drawings I would agree SU is better, but for fast conceptural, VB is really great, then export into what ever you want. Take a look at ViewbuildUSA rocks 2, then try to do that in SU in 2.5 hours then you will see what I mean. Thanks for the comment.
Yeh thats great....I would like to try this software instead of sketchup....but....By the time I learn how to use it, and practice it until i am fluent with it, I could have built that house in sketchup, and then even build a few more, and then built a skyscraper with a working elevator. So I dont think it is that good if you have started on sketchup
You are so right in what you say :-). We only use VB for our conceptual views, but both Sketchup and VB software has its place. Thanks for the comment.
This program is simply AWESOME indeed!!! Being a fan of Sketchup for simple projects and quick, down-and-dirty outputs...this progams has the capabilities of doing what Sketchup does and MORE!!! Being able to import DWG files directly from AutoCad and Revit for "Illustration" purposes is a must-have!!! Definitely on my list of things to do for this week!!! "ViewBuild Rocks"...INDEED!!!
Thanks C3D your comments are appreciated. (you've just earned a discount ;-))You are only seeing a tiny part of what this software does and where we are going with it. Infact an Autocad Professional has just joined our company. Tonight we will have ViewBuildUSA Rocks 2 out keep an eye out for it.
I first tried ViewBuild 1 year ago and I have been using it ever since. We will be teaching it at the community college level in January. We are changing how architecture is done.
You must have downloaded the free viewer. You use that to view a model. You can't change anything in the model. If you want a model file to walk around let me know and I will send you one.
Hi Joeyls. Try going to the Viewbuildusa, then to the forum, signup (its free) Then a lot of your questions will be answered, or ask specific questions there.
This is a great program, but it seems limitet to only architecture. Can you make a 3d model of a memory stick duo or flash drive. I don't like programs that render things for me, i like to have complete control over what is being created. This is faster, but way too automated.
I have done sinks, Stoves, etc. with it, but you are correct, it doesn't work well with small objects.
We also take the models out of VB and put them in Max to make the photo quality renders you see at the end of the video. WE do have controls for lighting, shade, etc.
Yes this is mainly an architectural,Architectural marketing, and Architectural Desgin tool.
It seems like a great "architecture" program, which is what it is made for, however, I personally use 3D modeling apps for much more and like to have the complete control sketchup gives you, granted it can be more time consuming.
Thanks for the comments Mulaco. It is a great tool. I design and engineer homes, additions, etc.with Autocad and I still do my demo's in ViewBuild. I can model most homes for a demonstration in about an hour. My customers love being able to see and experiance a live walk through. Let me know if you want more info. I'm glad to help.
The simple answer is yes to both questions. I can do a simple model in 15 seconds. Is that quick enough. I did the model
"ViewBuildUSA Rocks" in 18 minutes. I did practice it for speed, but as you can see I did a 2 story with complex roof lines, textured walls custom window and stairs with railings. ViewBuild was designed to do any building project. Not like a lot of cheep floor plan software that only lets you do things their way.
DAMN...thats cool but can it do skateparks if it cant then theres one thing sketchup is better at!

I used sketchup for so long, but viewbuild owns sketchup. Soo much more oppurtunity and stuff to do! Quicker too!
mulaco 4 years ago
so is it easier and quicker than Sketchup?
elizarosy 4 years ago
Much. Our next video this week will be an 11 year old girl showing her skills with ViewbuildUSA
