I have no idea where it comes from, I suspect though it might be man made. I've seen this live and I have a couple of microscopes and tested it with commercial Acetone and Lacquer thinner and paint thinner and mineral spirits.
I'm no chemist but I'm no dummy. It looks allot like a Bi-Polymer or Artificial synthetic that uses some sort of Nano-Technology to replicate. I can tell you definitely though that Acetone will liquidate this immediately.
I think acetone is high ACID. And just as rubbing alcohol would do the same as the acetone (and burn like hell)...the opposite pH in ALKALINE will stop that itch (& HEAL nicely with several applications) and not so much burning if any at all!
Acetone is extremely hi PH. I tried alcohol and it didn't work. The thing is though if this is a Polymer then alcohol won't dissolve it. Acetone will break down Polymers, and yes it burns like hell but eventually it healed.
