  • thank god u did well in ur surgery due to going to colombia i had a friend that went to colombia ad her surgery went very well. god bless

am also thinking of doing a tummy tuck however i will be having my surgery in new york . thank you so much for sharing your experience

  • Mel you are not being to hard on yourself. People just don't understand how it is to come from being overweight and then doing what it takes to lose the weight and keeping it off. Stay on track you are a success because you are willing to do what unsuccessful people are not. I'm just happy through it all you are healthy. Keep healthy eating habits to avoid the whole liquid diet thing. Bump up your cardio.

  • what is the liquid diet? what is the purpose of it?

  • I've been watching ur videos since last week. I have to say, your absolutely awsome. I love ur spirit and ur dedication. There will always be ppl. out there with a different opinion. Call it hatters or whatever. Keep on doing u mama. I just started my process. I just put in for the surgery last Friday. I'm waiting on them to call me and hope that I qualify (keeping my fingers crossed). Eras bella entonces and your still Bella. Same great attitude and beautiful smile. Saludos from Chicago... :0)

  • Yes, I made that comment about anorexia and bulemia. I was said in love, but if you can only hande the " oh Melanie you are great" comments then I shall refrain from subscribing and/or commenting on your videos.

  • I understand your fear. I can't wait to be your size. Went to the doctor today and I'm 45 pounds down and 90 lbs to go. =)

  • So an 8 lb gain did nothing for ya missy LOL u are beautiful regardless! Try to keep that in mind. You transformed yourself into a happier healthier individual and thats what is most important. I know the complications from PS are a lil scary...hell very scary but like I said your going to get through it, because you are strong! I gotta make a trip to Jersey so we can do lunch... Im not that far away...Anyways keep your head up and keep smiling... YOU GOT THIS MAMI!!!!!

  • Just wanted to stop by and say thank you maam... I still have so much more work to go... but have not been motivated..l so many damn stressors.. NEWAY Ive been watching and I am keeping you in my prayers definitely! You still look amazing... and I know youll be fine, youve done awesome thus far. Think about it 160 is no where near what u were when you started and u still look stunning!

  • 4) I'm normally not opinionated in real life.. so I don't feel 100% comfortable writing this much.. like I'm a 'know all' or something.. because I'm not. My heart is to help you &share in your journey. I always look forward to your vids. Hugs from Australia! xox

  • @kissnyuszi Hi and thank you so much for the comment. I appreciate your honesty and yes your absolutely right. Maybe I did not find my comfort zone w/ the band and it was the reason I had so much trouble w/ throwing up. I will not go up to 6cc's again. Right now I will not get another fill. Im going to try to do it on my own w/o the restriction. I want to test myself and see if my mind has adjusted to the eating habits that I have customized since having the band.

  • 3) One thing I've learned from all of the reading & viewing is that everyone is different. Maybe you haven't found that 'place' yet .. where the band is working for you at its optimal level. Maybe increase the cc's slowly -to see how you are with eating? You need enough cc's to feel restricted when dining out, but without throwing up at all or gaining weight, I'm sure you can find that place.. people do -it's possible! Yr family love u but why be banded if you don't use it as a tool?

  • 2). I've viewed parts 1 & 2 btw! Yeah, maybe the 'right' restriction for you is b btween 4 & 5.5 or something? From watching other ppl's journeys it seems u have 2find a balance for yrself to work the band the best way. Too much = impossible lifestyle &yr family get fed up. Not enough = u might as well not have the band at all. U need a middle ground where u don't have 2throw up but have sum restriction so you can maintain yr weight &work the band u have. 6cc's sounded like 2much for you. xox

  • I'm planning on lapband surgery when my current season of work finishes around June this year (it's seasonal work in school photography). I've been preparing, I've met my surgeon &seen another specialist for sleep apnea &another for insulin resistance &also a dietician. I'm being told to avoid vomiting at all costs bcos it isn't normal &usually means yr too tight &need a slight unfill. Vomiting can cause problems with yr band I'm told. Maybe u need between 4&5 cc's?

  • And Melanie, i just need to add, i'm definitely not endorsing any kind of ED because i wouldn't have started documenting my OWN journey with the lap band on youtube if i wasn't going to utilise every support network offered to me that comes with this procedure. So best of luck. U don't need to feel bad about looking great, it's just finding that balance that so many of us have been searching for for so long. Check out my first vid if u like. You're my inspiration - i gave a shout out to you LOL!

  • Hey Melanie, I can totally relate to your confusion right now. I don't get my band for another 12 days, however, banded or not it's pretty hard to find that middle ground once you've reached - and even surpassed - your goal. I'll be interested to see how you go actually, because if, like me, you've been a classic yoyo dieter your whole life, you'll wonder if the band will win the battle for you. Not the healthiest frame of mind i admit, but that's why we have our support networks i guess =)

  • From a personal perspective I believe that you need to focus on what you eat, and listening to the signs of your body. For now, put the scales away, they can be a sucker for getting things wrong, placing you in an emotional state that would not be good for your eating habits and your motivation. My husband being a personal trainer always advises his customers to measure ones self through body fat monitors or the old fashion way a tape measure! Sierra x

  • yes you have to keep yourself healthy, i told you i need you hear until i rech my goal, i am so SERIOUS about that.

  • In comparison to you, I don't know s*** :), but all I know is you sound really anxious right now. You need to chillllllllllll out. Just listen to your body. Don't starve, don't overeat, and don't think yourself into a frenzy. Just chill and listen. I think maybe you need to take things a lot slower, you've been through a LOT girl, and you can't expect everything to fall flat right into line. Just be kind to yourself. Best wishes, Sam

  • i cant take my eyes off your boobs! they look great LOL, you've been threw a massive journey and earnt every pound you have lost. Try not to stress yourself too much. I think going back to basics will work for you :-) x

  • Mel your eyes have grown lol,,,,,,Eh? whoops, sorry my thought no they haven't.

lol All in jest take care....

  • your amazing and so insprational. i have lost 20 kgs in the last monthand 2 weeks since my lapband surgery. Ifit was not or yourself posting your videos and telling us what goes on and what to look out fori would not off been able to do it. Just wnt to say thank you and your looking so gorgeous and cant wit to be the same. thanks me :)

  • I understand your concern and understandably you get scared about gainin weight. You lost it so fast and you worked so hard and you are almost happy with everything and BAM - a little weight gain - Relax, you are a very strong person - you will maintain and find a weight where your body wants to be - thanks again for airing all of your experience - you are such a motivater for me. I go tomorrow to get my band.

  • **MEL- you look great girl, I understand the freakin out on the weight as many have stated. You've come so very far, and have inspired MANY, including me girl! I'm now a WHOLE MONTH post-op, and anxiously awaiting that 1st fill, 'cause I jus wanna get some restriction and speed up some weight loss myself. But, you LOOK AMAZING--feel good in what you've accomplished thusfar!!

  • your getting in a dangerous thinking. this is how ED starts. becareful sweetie. could you tell the weight gain? or just the scale told you? Id put the scale away for a while focus on eating well and excersize that will burn more wieght than starving.

    hugs!

  • I still think the exta weight comes from the bigger boobs and the extra cushion on the but. 8 pounds isnt that much but I can understand that you like me never want to get big again so your not really crazy your scared. totally normal reaction. I had a friend that was really big and lost awhole ton of weight and is petrfied of gaining even 5 pounds. When I loose all my weight I will probley feel the same way. 4days left untill surgery.

  • mel i understand and we all should..for years we seen the scale go up and now me like to c it go down so its a mind thing and its normal hang in there

  • Keep your focus on healing right now. That's important. You need the nutrients to continue to get better!

  • Poor lady, you seem so anxious.. understandably..BUT you are strong, and when you look back on all of this later.. it will be a distant memory. You look amazing! Stay strong okay..

  • That's scary to think that that drain might still be inside you! did you notice that the stitch had come out before you lost it? I hope it gets fixed - or better yet that you find it in the bedsheets or laundry!

  • YOUR TATASSSSSSSSS are big girl!!! LOL I hope you take that as a complement. I dont think you look too thin. I think you look great. I think you should listen to your body and see what it feels its best at. Not focusing too much on the scale or what your mind wants but what your body wants.

  • I can understand FREAKING out with the weight gain!!! I certainly would have freak too!!!! We work so hard to get ot goal! and you went through so much and now you have no restriction...... its fricking scary!!!!! BUT dont get nuts you know what you have to do...... feel good and enjoy your new bod!!! looking good chica!!!

  • Hey Mel! It's SUPER hard to see the scale move up, but I think you're right--you need to focus on how you feel and if you feel good, girl...don't even think about the scale! You're amazing, you're doing great, give yourself a break :) And that 8lb gain could be from a lot of things, not necessarily fat, but water--your cells are repairing themselves and replicating to heal your wounds. Take a breath!

  • THE GIRLS LOOK GREAT!!

  • ok... i started cracking up about being mental... I so get that and am so there and have been there for about a year now.. but i guess that is a good problem to have after all the ones we got rid of so far, right? I hope it just fell out and you dont need to be opened again.

  • Hey Mel, go to the doctor and get that drain checked out. You absolutely do not want to start messing around with infections! BTW, body shot looks great:-)Take care.

  • First of all you look great!

8 pounds in a week is a lot to gain. I understand your freaking out. I would too. I am totally afraid of gaining, even though I got down to my goal and surpassed my comfortable weight. Now I want to keep losing: 145 and perhaps smaller (I'm much shorter than you) Fluctuating 150-160 sounds like a great goal.

Bummer about the drain! If it's there get it out! Glad you are going to the doctor.

  • You look beautiful! I hope that I wasn't too mean in my posting on your last video. I was just worried that you hadn't let your body heal. It seems that you have a pretty good understanding of what is going on in your own body. Hope that I didn't intrude too much....

  • unlikely that drain is still in Mel........it probably just fell out.........happens all the time and your body can't suck it in.

the drainage will soon stop too ...........as long as it isn't red, swollen or painful.........you'll be fine. rest.

  • Mel, to be honest with u I don't think u r being too hard on yourself. And I don't think your real issue with your weight is the number I thinks its more like you re scared to death that with you not having restricrtion right now you could fall back into hold ways of eating, am I right? Anyway the liquid diet might b a tad harsh, but like you mentioned not obsessing over the scale but more on just eating and being healthy is the best thing for right now!

  • oops didnt wait lol sorry didnt know you was gonna stand up lmao sorry

  • you look fabulous girlie when are you gonna stand up and show us the body shot after surgery are you doing ok? hows it going other then being worried lol you look good right now

  • you look great! shoot o.m.g go to the docotr get an xray done let us know what happened.

  • Mel what you are going through is completely normal for WLS patients you recently lost a large amount of weight and sometimes the imagine we have in our minds does not equal are bodies. If you are a member of WLC community you may want to go the support meeting and I am sure that you will be able to connect with other who have the same experience and they can walk you this this phase. You look wonderful and you are a huge inspiration to me in my weight lost journey

  • Hey girl.. I think u are a beautiful strong women and u look amaZing right now it's all in ur mind.. Ur beautiful.. Love ya self!!

  • your breast weights 10 lbs each lol just kiding you look great!

  • Your too funny Melanie, my breast do look bigger on camera. hahaha

  • omg that sounds scary u dont know where it weny well i hope they get it out and every thing is fine...goodluck mel

  • Mel I say do you everybody is going to have something to say if you like the way you look stay they weight if not change it, oh and by the way your breast my have added weight on you.

  • Thank you so much for that comment. I think I listen to people way too much and it interferes with what I really think. Yeah my boobs look huge in this video and I can see why you say that it might be the reason for some gain. LOL

  • those were the same drains i had when i had the bypass. draining does suck....i used cling wrap...made by glad to cover it until it heals lol

    it worked.

  • Wow, I didn't that about that, that sounds like a great idea, thanks for the tip.

  • It sounds like you may be working yourself into an eating disorder. I know how it feels to be extremley heavy and loose weight and feel good and then gain weight back. my recommendation is to talk with a therapist who can help you ease the stress about your weight. You look great and have been a tremendous inspiration to all of us who watch your videos. Please try to keep a positive outlook.

  • There is no way I have or will every have an eating disorder. I dont go that route.

  • Girl you are tripping you will probably never be one set weight. You look good and are very driven. Thanks for the inspiration

  • Yeah im tripping big time. Its funny when u lose all the weight, your still not satisfied. I have to mentally learn how to deal with this life time change.

  • I think the weight is waste and fluid. 150-160 may be your range. Yes, you have to rest your body. Have too! Remember you are just a few weeks post surgery so your body is in shock and it may be 6 weeks or so before you get back to normal and your normal weight.

  • OMG! I hope you will be ok..

  • I'll be ok. Im Melanie.. I overcome all. LMAO. Overall im a very strong person and can handle anything. Fear is what wins me over but I just have to get over it.

  • Hey Mel... I remember you said in one of your videos that you liked your body better at 160.

You are a great person who gives a lot of inspiration to so many others for just saying whats on your mind... good, bad or indifferent! I certainly appreciate your utter honesty!

Here is a sick fact to keep in mind... your body can store up to 8 lbs of waste products, so your weight could change -/+ 8 lbs just because of that.

We love you Mel... 150, 160 or anything in between!

  • I hope things are okay! You worked so hard to get things right! I will be praying for you...MAUH
