He was almost to old to fight, and had terrible vision. The military had him do something he was already experienced in. Based on the books about him, I've read; he wanted to go overseas. It was the same thing that saved Ike from being in Europe in World War 1. They wanted to fight, but their orders were to the contrary.

Being a Hollywood actor (a bad one), Reagan knew how to use celebrity.

He was photogenic & had a winning smile.

In the US, where most people are uninformed, uneducated, & can't assimilate anything beyond a simplistic sound bite, it's easy to take advantage.

We had the most economic growth in history as well as doubled the revenue to the goverment when Regean was in office. He dismantled the soviet union whith out firing a shot. You are crazy. Poor did great under Reagan--middle and upper class did great-GDP doubled under him-inflation fell from 13% to 3.2%-18 million jobs were created-military was strengthened beyond Soviet power- and most of all, he created an economic boom.

The only bad thing about Reagan was his damn spending--which had a huge hand in the collapse of the USSR.

JFK used Trickle down--Ludwig Erhard used it too.

PS: Reagan created a surplus a governor of California ($100 million surplus). He balanced the budget too. He just believed in the military more than the budget.

I am also a Reagan fan.

I remember with fondness the days when most Conservatives & Republicans had Reagan's integrity, dignity, and manners.

Reagan did not resort to childish name calling and vulgar personal insults. He helped lift America above that.
