i was born on january 7, 1981. this video made me proud. but to say that there were "runaway deficits" is wrong. look it up. reagan's tax cuts caused the deficits to triple from the per year rate of the carter administration.

The Constitution says CONGRESS controls the purse strings. Despite Reagan's best efforts to reduce spending (save for military) overwhelming Democratic majorities running Congress for most of Reagan's terms thwarted those efforts. Gingrich and the Republicans forced fiscal austerity onto Bill Clinton 1994- (yet Slick Willy gets the credit for balanced budgets?). Ignoring the fact Congress controls spending gives Dems the ability to falsely claim better stewardship over the executive fiscally.
