Okay, this is like the 5th tesseract/hypercube I've watched, and I feel utterly nauseous. I propose a rule: Rotate either in 3 dimensions or the 4th at a time. Not both at once. Now, if you'll excuse me, *BLEGH*.
Heheh. I'm sorry that these vids are making you sick. Some people react that way to them, you are not the first. When I get some time perhaps I will go through some of the better ones and do as you propose. :-)
Heh. Thatnks for the consideration. I do find the subject very fascinating. I'd just like to be able to appreciate it without getting motion sickness. :-P
Not quite. :-) The bitruncated tesseract is the same as the bitruncated 16-cell. Look up "Uniform Polychora" on Wikipedia for a great article on how this works. :-)
if only holograms were up to the task to see this as four dimensions mapped onto three, not just four mapped to three mapped to two... Still, very pretty and mind blowing :)
What a fascinating idea! I wonder what a 4-D hologram (which would be essentially 3-D) would look like? Of course, is a regular hologram really flat? Or is it just really thin? I'm not sure. :-)
Very interesting article. :-) I have to admit I scanned the article rather than reading it in depth, but despite the image of R2D2 projecting a cat into the air, I think the kind of holograms they describe; the image is -in- the hologram, not floating above it or away from it. I understand a bit about the laser interference pattern that creates a hologram, and I'm not sure how that would translate to 4D. The Visa sticker -is- a real hologram, btw (I think). :-) Just a really little one.

It's still awesome, though. :-)

so is the bitruncated tesseract is the truncated 16-cell?

well, I don't mean a holographic sticker like the one's you'd see on a visa... I mean a true three dimensional hologram like tinyurlDOTcom/mb4u62

The cells are truncated tetrahedra, and truncated octahedra.
FluffyBunniesOnFire 2 years ago
FluffyBunniesOnFire - Yep! Sixteen truncated tetrahedra and eight truncated octahedra. :-)

Well, the comments on this vid *are* a bit banal, but I like the figure, nonetheless. :-)
