Dude, it doesnt matter how many sit ups you do everyday, if you get puched in the liver, you will feel serious pain. I was hit by a soccer ball in the liver once and I was on the ground in serious pain. I also got hit by a left hook to the body in a sparring sesion, and I was lucky not to get knockdown(I still cant believe it) but it really hurt.

The location of the punch had a LOT to do with my the guy keeled over in pain. The one flexing wasn't anticipating the hook to be that far behind the front abs and onto the rib cage it looks like it. Getting hit hard sucks, getting hit hard where you weren't expecting it sucks more.
