In the movie, he did fire off way more shots than possible. Other than that, it was a great movie. Very accurate. Using Chapman's own words.

Google search the image of Lennon signing Chapmans Double Fantasy album.. In that photo he looks a lot like the actor who played him here to me. The actor playing Chapman (Jonas Ball) looks less like the real killer than the actors you mentioned do their real life counterparts. Excellent film nonetheless.

That was a weird scene in Chapter 27 too.. I think the murder scenes could have been better in both but that aside The Killing of John Lennon was (imho) by far the better of the two films. Chapter 27 only covered Chapmans final 3 days in NY while TKOJL used the previous 3 months and flashbacks of Chapmans youth to paint a more complete picture. If you read Chapmans bio I think you would conclude it was the more honest portrayal. Leto looked more like Chapman but Ball ACTED more like him.
Not trying to be wise after the event, but it just takes one man out of 100 million and four bullets to change history. In NY it was easy to get guns.
Out if interest did other big stars at the time have bodyguards and security ? I read Lennon had security but Yoko sacked them a few weeks earlier. Bit strange considering they were putting themselves back in the public eye.

The extra shots are like echoes, they simply prolong the gruesome scene. The film was meticulously researched & makes clear that Chapman fired 5 times in other scenes. That said its not REALLY important how many bullets were fired or what color shirt John was wearing. What is important is the WHY behind what happened and while this film doesn't pretend to be able to provide a simple answer to a complex case it does provide the viewer with enough info to decide for themselves

Get out of here (or something to that effect)! When the latter did not he said: Do you know what you have just done??!! To which Chapman replied: Yeah, I just shot John Lennon. @QuikVidGuy Good points, you are right the cops did not really arrive as fast as implied, by the time they did a crowd had started to gather. The actors look enough like Lennon and Ono to me. Google search the image of Lennon signing Chapmans Double Fantasy album.. In that photo he looks a lot like the actor who played him here to me. The actor playing Chapman (Jonas Ball) looks less like the real killer than the actors you mentioned do their real life counterparts. Excellent film nonetheless.

That was a weird scene in Chapter 27 too.. I think the murder scenes could have been better in both but that aside The Killing of John Lennon was (imho) by far the better of the two films. Chapter 27 only covered Chapmans final 3 days in NY while TKOJL used the previous 3 months and flashbacks of Chapmans youth to paint a more complete picture. If you read Chapmans bio I think you would conclude it was the more honest portrayal. Leto looked more like Chapman but Ball ACTED more like him.

The extra shots are like echoes, they simply prolong the gruesome scene. The film was meticulously researched & makes clear that Chapman fired 5 times in other scenes. That said its not REALLY important how many bullets were fired or what color shirt John was wearing. What is important is the WHY behind what happened and while this film doesn't pretend to be able to provide a simple answer to a complex case it does provide the viewer with enough info to decide for themselves

I don't understand you people. If John loved Yoko, that should be enough. They were obviously soul mates. Just because she wasn't your average, every day person was what drew John to her in the first place.
As far as breaking up the Beatles, they were already at each other's throats even before Yoko. They had a love-hate relationship by that time. It was John who was so obsessive about her that he didn't want her out of his sight.
Please do your research before putting the woman down.

It's true that John did want to leave the Beatles by the time he got romantically involved with Yoko (although he met her while the Beatles were still on good terms, they did not court each other til later).
But as for the rest of your argument, debatable. Yoko fulfilled John's need for a dominant female figure in his life, and she abused that at times, no doubt. She also deliberately made it awkward for Paul to meet him later, preventing a reunion.

As shown in the film, an amateur photographer actually took pictures of Lennon autographing an album for Chapman as Lennon and Ono were leaving the Dakota for the evening. The shooting took place when they returned. The director was quite deliberate in being as factually accurate as he could.

People come on here all day and say Lennon was really only shot twice or some other nonsense and you know whats funny? 99.8% of the time the film is right and they wrong. This film was meticulously researched. The Director knows EXACTLY how many bullets were fired, the very opening scene shows 5. People need to watch the film and judge it on its own merits not a youtube clip.

This is particularly sad as John was on the verge of a big comeback and had some great material in the pipeline.Furthermore, I also feel that although John loved America, I dont think he wanted to die there. Like me, he was an Englishman and given the choice (which was ruthlessly taken away from him by a sick, murdering scumbag) I feel that's where he would have prefered to die - in the land of his birth.

@StevenGA1011 Police responded to the scene very quickly and it was clear that Lennon had lost so much blood he could not wait for an ambulance so he was placed in the back of a squad car and driven to the hospital where he was pronounced DOA. One of the doctors on duty commented that no one who had lost that much blood could survive more than a few minutes. The doorman who screamed for Chapman to go (Jose Perdomo) had previously befriended the killer and was in a state of shock

The doorman was stunned in disbelief at what had just occurred. Shock is a wierd thing. It makes you act illogically - for example a woman who is rescued from a burning building but cannot descend the ladder to safety because she 'freezes' or acts irrationally in other ways.
