It was capable of taking off and landing on its own and was build before the flight model Buran 1.01 which was the orbital that actually launched into space and returned. 1.01 is the one that was destroyed in the hanger collapse.
Those are german guys, who reassemble the buran. They are from the "auto und technik museum Sinsheim" in southern germany, which ows for example concorde and Tu 144.

The status of space-capable Burans:
1. Buran - only finished, destroyed
2. Ptichka - built to ~95%, now Kazahkstans property
3. 2.gen. (Baikal?) - built to 30-50%, in Germany
4. 2.gen. - built to 10-20% - partially dismantled?
5. 2.gen - constructions only began, dimantled
