  • Goosebumps. Every. Single. Time.

  • where's the trapezoid?! haha jk

i'm aware it hadn't been created yet

  • what season is this from?

  • @eddybagwell 2000

  • ! remember this nite. Could barely stay awake but when Primeau scored that goal..I think I woke the whole neighborhood up. This goal and Gagne's goal in the Bruins series being down 3-0 and to come back to win the series was epic.

  • When you see this - you have to go back and search for the box score---Dan McGillis (number 3) played 61 minutes. Eric Desjardins, 56 minutes. Luke Richardson (who assisted on the winning goal) - 60 minutes.

  • I do NOT understand why all you people want the NHL back on ESPN. ESPN KILLED hockey. They buried on their ancillary networks, and still barely covered it. The NBC/VS. (which will be NBC sports network after Jan 1) contract, has the network carrying hockey as their FLAGSHIP sport. Ratings are UP for the NHL, and keeping of ESPNU is a good reason why. Not to mention that Mike Emrick is 1000x better than the awful Gary Thorne (who was a Gus Johnson type screamer.)

  • @stormcrow7878 I agree with you completely until you said Mike Emrick is a better announcer than Gary Thorne. Are you on drugs?

  • @Jgriffy Gary Thorne? the guy who NEVER gets the names of players correct? He is a screamer ALL THE TIME, who offers little to nothing to a game. I will take Emerick EVERY time. Of course it's all subjective my friend :0)

  • @stormcrow7878 Gary Thorne was always good at rising to the occasion when necessary, that's really his mark on the game. Doc Emrick's fall from glory has been painful to endure... when he was simply the play-by-play guy for the Devils, who would occasional fill in duties for ABC or whatever, he was one of the best. He has a great voice and understands the game.

  • Unfortunately, ever since he became commentator-in-chief for NBC and its subsidiaries, he seems more concerned with his annoying vocabulary and having conversations than sticking to the action. I think Steve Levy did a nice job (the guy in this video) but they ALL pale in comparison to Rick Jeanneret, Pat Foley and other legends.

  • Zelepukin. Holy shit. I'm seeing names I completely forgot about on here. Go Flyers!

  • i am a flyers fans born and raised. but i must say, these pens jerseys just may be the best jersey's in the history of hockey. i miss that logo.

  • The announcer said "It might be an ugly goal", but more often than not, NHL overtime goals turn out to be great goals (re: the Easter Epic, or Dave Hannan's goal in 1994 against New Jersey).

The only OT goal I can ever remember being controversial was Hull's goal, Dallas versus Buffalo. That one *should* have been called back and the game continued. Dallas would have won the series eventually (they led 3-1 when Hull "scored"). I just don't want a final to end in controversy.

    .

  • I had fallen asleep late in the 4th overtime...thank God for YouTube.

  • I remember watching this game, i live on the east coast, i was young, only about 10 yrs old, and i was just getting into sports so i wasnt a bruins fan like i now am, this game was unreal to watch... Playoff hockey at its best right here :)

  • This is still the 3rd longest game in NHL history.

  • Pheonix fans are very loyal

  • Back when ESPN knew what hockey was. Now the only time you see hockey on ESPN is if Crosby is involved

  • espn and hockey doesnt even go together anymore haha.

  • I was 12...so glad I live in California, having it start at 4 and watching it end 7 1/2 hours later.

  • And Kasparitis(sp) was the defender. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, lol.

  • I miss Primeau. <3 the Flyers with all my heart!

  • im related to keith primeau down my moms side, she was adopted tho,so she finally got to see her birth parents after 20 yrs or so i think..dont rlly kno that side of the family only my aunty and grandparents!! its pre cool tho,i luv hockey

  • best fans in hockey

  • I remember this one---unfortunately, I fell asleep late in the 4th overtime, not long after Jagr gazed up at the clock and saw a 7 on the period number.

  • 0:00 WAKE YOUR ASSES UP!!! Lol.

  • i hate both teams haha but what a damn game that was to watch no matter who played it

  • I remember staying up till 2am watching this and had to go to school in the morning. It still to this day is my favorite memory as a Flyers fan.

  • That's my cousin. Fucking right mofos!

  • keith priemeau > pittsburgh penguins

  • what a WICKED SHOT

  • gee steve levy, dont sound too dissapointed that the flyers scored. Its bad enough that espn hates hockey since they lost the contract to versus, but theyve always hated on philly with the exception of vick (and who could hate on that story)

  • @skoalbear618 - These weren't ESPN announcers. These were Penguins announcers.

  • @skoalbear618 - These weren't ESPN announcers. These were Penguins announcers. It was only Steve Levy at the VERY end of the clip. I'm guessing whoever posted this spliced the audio.

  • @dhenderson27 uhhhhh nope. this is ESPN all the way.

  • i love how they ordered pizza because of how long it was

  • what a rocket priemeau literally said I'm ending this with that shot

  • BRING BACK NHL ON ESPN

  • @schuberx13 they left us, we didnt leave them. screw espn

  • @schuberx13 Dude, ESPN decided to treat the NHL like garbage. I'm glad the league stayed with NBC Sports as the NBC Sports Network is coming on January 2nd. ESPN is going down.

  • @019Redwings i hope so man. very good point. fuck their monopoly

  • I remember I was like 9 watching this on my 20 inch TV in my room. I ended up waking up my dad around 3 AM (late as hell for me). He was pissed until he found out what happened. I skipped school the next day. Great memory.

  • All this energy even after 5 OT's that's great hockey

  • what....a goal

  • definitely one of those philly sports moments where i remember exactly where i was when it happened.

  • best part is kasparatis got OWNED

  • You know deep down in those pittsburgh players they were saying, "Thank god this game is over, I dont care if we lost."

  • man i remember being 13 yr old watching this and I couldnt even celebrate cause I thought I was dreaming when I saw it. Great memories from Keith

  • Penguin fans say what you want. Fair weather fans are all you are. The Steelers, on the other hand, have a loyal fan base. I remember watching many Penguin home games and the amount of fans there could barely fill an outhouse. Explain all the logo changes over the years too. Why would a team with a loyal fan base do that?

  • jeez... now I can sleep!

  • suprimeau!

  • Not all 33 year olds are out making babies and raising families. God willing, I'll be doing that soon enough. I'm here because I enjoy conversation :-)

I live in the Philly area, and some of my good friends are Flyers fans. How that works, I don't really know, lol. But hey, I'm originally from Pittsburgh and they understand that.

That said, I'm going back to hating on the Philthy Flyers, as it is encoded in my DNA.

    GO PENS!

  • These comments are hilarious. Hockey is the best!

  • I never understood haters...it was a great goal but you get a guy coming in here trying to down play it. Go comment on one of Crosby's dives or something and let hockey fans enjoy a nice shot

  • "They're still waving those towels in Pittsburgh"...Yea, the like 3000 fans that are left!

  • pengiuns fans talking shit hey we didn't get beat by the montreal, CHOKE

  • Comment removed

  • I still haven't forgiven Primeau for this. I had Final Exams the next day and I stayed up all night to watch. Fuck Philthy.

Oh well, we've won 3 Cups in the last 19 years and the Philthy Flyers have yet to win one in my lifetime. Last Cup Ever 1975!

  • @drdst17 That may be but Philadelphia has fans through thick and thin, something Pittsburgh knows nothing about. You almost lost your team a few years after winning two Stanley Cups. Pathetic. You don't deserve a hockey team.

  • @igglesgirl419 Sorry honey, but this is total BS. We support our teams in Pitts. Our owner had bankrupted our franchise and with no new arena on the horizon, we could not keep any good players on our roster and sold them off to remain solvent as a business. Our attendance suffered, yes, but every one outside of Canada would have suffered as well. But all has come to fruition for us this year: brand new arena, world-class talent on the roster, Stanley Cup in 2009.

    Philly? 1975 forever.

  • @drdst17 Support your fans? I don't think the Pirates even show up to their game let alone their fans. And no one cared about the Pen UNTIL you had a "World-Class" talent on the roster. That's called being on a bandwagon.

  • @Aeileo Your Philthy tears are delicious. Again, your reasoning is flawed and completely ignores the situation the team was in during the 90's. The same thing would happen to many NHL franchises, other than those in Canada.

Last Cup Ever 1975. It's who you are - accept it. Your team is has been Fail for over 35 years, and your fans are assholes to the 10th degree.

I think I'm gonna go watch Patty Kane score an OT goal XD

  • @drdst17 you're horrible trash talk is confusing to me :). However, it doesn't matter what happened in the 90's they never stood behind them. Even with the drought of championships philly still stands behind it's team. Not give them a chance to relocate. Another point is once you resort to cursing your point is voided cause you can't get your thoughts like an adult.

And you should watch the choke fest the penguins had with the canadians first....Just to keep it chronological ;-)

  • @Aeileo Touche on your last paragraph ;-)

But I'll cry my tears of Fail for that series into the 2009 Stanley Cup. It's a pretty big trophy - plenty of room.

Your last cup wasn't even in my lifetime, and I'm 33 now.

  • @drdst17 Haha gotta fire at each other. Live in the past to long you'll never enjoy the future. You're 33? The hell are you doing wasting your time on youtube?

  • @drdst17 Having picks 1 and 2 from 2003-2006 helped too. Don't forget that. Closest the Flyers got to #1 was a few years ago.

  • @igglesgirl419 Agreed. Almost went to Kansas....KANSAS...Philly would never let that happen

  • wow I remember this game. I was still in high school and begged my dad to let me stay up through the second overtime and then I stealthily stayed up through the third before I had to go to sleep.

but I recorded the final 2 overtimes! mwahahaha.

  • i'll tel lyou what....primeau was a beast this whole playoffs

  • I'll never forget watching this game... UNBELIEVEABLE.... look at how tired and exhausted they were at this point...

  • Agreed, Pitt is not a hockey town. Football town for sure. Saying Pitt is a hockey town is a joke. Keith Primeau SCORES!!! Who won this series. Oh yeah the Flyers...

  • I remember this game It was like 3:30 am I stayed up the whole game then fell asleep like 10 min be4 he scored lol!!

  • epic, just epic!

  • I remember watching this whole game live back in the day, it seemed to go forever.

imo after the 3rd ot it should have been called a stalemate and played again on another day

  • haha fucking penguins

  • any chance of watching this full game?

  • @Britex123 Without falling asleep?

  • @ilovemusicfyi

yeh lol for some reason i wanna watch the full game even tho i know it ends in 5 ots

  • @Britex123 well i would want to watch the hole game cause when you play 2hrs and 30 mins of hockey, and only 3 goals happen, i would wonder what the hell where they doing all that time?

  • what a goal i cant stop watching it

  • pitt fans r the worst in hockey. they won the cup last year yet they were still 16th in attendance in this year. god damn thats pathetic

  • SOMEONE MAKE a History will be made spoof for this

  • Steve Levy and 5 OT playoff games go together like Philly and booing.

  • nothing like some beer and popcorn at 2AM

  • "what a great hockey city we have here in pittsburgh. we are so glad mario kept this team alive" what a contradicting statement. the announcers were paid even back then to make pens "fans" look good, while we all know they were bankrupt. worst fans in hockey....pittsburgh

  • @RockinFlyers

for course Crosby saved that franchise

  • @RockinFlyers cuz ur completely impartial

  • @RockinFlyers And, if you watch the video quite a few fans left at that point. Pittsburgh fans are fair-weather fans with a man-crush on Crosby.

  • @RockinFlyers 1975, bitch. Win a championship sometime in the next 50 years.

  • @RockinFlyers

Hey man, don't criticize our ENTIRE fanbase. :O It's not MY fault 70% of Pens fans are fair weather bandwagon jumpers. lol

  • @RockinFlyers

No way dude. Everyone knows the Pens went bankrupt because Howard Baldwin couldn't afford to pay Lemieux all that deferred money. That's why Mario got to keep the team.

Anyway, when's the last time the Flyers won a Cup?

  • @fcoyle27 Everyone says that but in all honesty it reinforces what we say. Though it's been a lot of heart aches we stick by the team....Not desert them like Pitts did.

  • @RockinFlyers

    That's just entirely untrue.

During the years of bankruptcy, it seemed as though the team ownership group was going to move the team to another city, even when Lemieux got the team. He wanted to sell it to someone who would keep it in Pgh but said that he had to consider offers from buyers who would move the team. Fans felt betrayed and deceived by bankruptcy and move talks. Thank God Austin sparked Mario's comeback and made him realize that the team belongs to its fans in Pgh.

  • @RockinFlyers thts u and the flyer fans

  • @RockinFlyers True that and now every Pens "fan" thinks they're the shit cause they have Cyndey I wish they would've just gone bankrupt. I'm from PA and it's funny because every Pittsburgh fan is a Steelers, Penguins, and PHILLIES fan. What bandwagon jumpers.

  • @RockinFlyers if there were no mario, the penguins would have been in saskatoon.

  • @arkham335 exactly. the team needed a former player to help the team. no local business group/man wanted to own the pens

  • @RockinFlyers Worst fans in hockey? What about Florida? The Panthers. Even Phoenix, they're really bad.

  • @RockinFlyers

Is it really necessary to insult an entire fanbase?

  • haha i hate the penguins but love the flyers

  • Go Philly =)

  • wow 5 ots that's unreal..

  • This is what makes playoff hockey great! OT until someone scores...it show who wants it more!! I hope they don't get rid of it

  • I remember this game; I was trying to watch it until the end and fell asleep late in the 4th overtime.

  • yeah this moment really sucked. i really thought the flyers were going to win the cup after they eliminated us that season. it was probably the best flyers team since the 1975 season (1997 team was way overrated). good thing they choked to the devils in the next round. go pens!!!

  • Comment removed

  • As a Pens fan this series still hurts. After winning the first 2 in Philly I thought the Pens had this one locked up. But then lost 4 in a row.....yuck. but beating the Flyers 2 years in a row in the playoffs is OK!! : )

  • hahaha yeah i think you guys have the edge right now. i almost hope there's no rematch this year, i don't think we're ready to take you guys on in a best of seven series yet. it's really tough to get momentum against the pens. last year when the flyers dominated game five i was sure we were going to seven but then it all turned around so quickly in game six. that's gonna hurt for a while, especially with the pens winning the cup, man oh man. go flyers.

  • @seaofwhoas

Yea i thought the exact same thing about last year's series...especially when you guys jumped to a 3-0 lead in Game 6, but, as they would in Game 7 against Detroit Fleury and Talbot stepped up. You're right, it is tough to get momentum against the Pens, but they have played a lot of hockey over the past 2 years with back to back cup finals and now the olympics, but luckily we're young. But I think we both need to be worried about the Devils

  • i'm not so sure we should be worried about the devils. marty's really showing his age as it seems every year he gets tired by the end of the season (you can't really blame him when he's playing 70+ games a year). the devils will make the playoffs but they're only going to win if their offense steps up, and so far with kovalchuk they've shown they still could use more help up front. i think the pens are shoe-ins to win the atlantic again. fleury has shown that he can step up as the season closes

  • @seaofwhoas

i don't know man, people are saying marty's showing his age for the past 4 years and brodeur is still 2nd in the NHL in shutout, so if i was a devils fan, i wouldn't be worried

  • i'm not denying the undeniable greatness of marty brodeur, i'm just saying lately he looks tired. he's been letting in a lot of questionable goals lately and i question if he's got enough gas left in him to take the devils through four rounds of playoff hockey. i don't think he can, not by himself at least, he needs the offense to step up. if i'm a devils fan, i'm pretty worried right now. they had a sizeable lead on the pens but now they're only 1 point ahead and just 10 in front of the flyers

  • you're right about needing offense, that's why they got kovalchuk. they have now closed the gap a lot to the pens and flyers and most of the nhl, plus they still have the best defensive system in the league. as great as brodeur is, he's luck in the fact he only has to face 20-25 shots a night, but you're right he can't do 70 games a hyear anymore

  • i think lately the flyers have been the best defensive team in the league. they haven't allowed more than 2 goals in their last 8 games. it makes sense though, on paper they should be producing that well defensively. the offense is what has been streaky for the flyers this year and it needs to stay hot if the flyers want to get any closer to the penguins in the standings.

  • jimih64 might be the biggest joke on youtube, pathetic

  • lololololol keep talking shit. As if you're name doesn't connote how biased you are.

    Fucking moron haha.

  • your*

  • that goal never should have happened!! when the pens defender went to get the puck with no stick and swiped it with his hand...that should have bin icing and they didnt call it. when this goal happened there should of bin faceoff in the philly end!! BUT FUCK U FLYERS WENT GOT THE CUP LAST YEAR AND YOU HAVENT IN 40 YEARS!!!PENS- 3 CUPS, FLYERS- 2 CUPS!!! FUCK U PHILLY

  • Nonetheless, last time I checked, Philadelphia was never in danger of losing it's hockey team.

  • @Boog609

Last time i checked the pens won the cup and are not moving anywhere so explain how that means anything

  • Ha nice Boog so true. And yeah so crosby helped didn't lead. (You can check the stats on that one) to the playoffs 3 times. Doesn't mean he's a captain. He complains, when things don't go his way, he dives, and he's not even close to the best player on his team. He's not an example to follow on or off the ice. Making him a poor captain. And just for the record that first goal in game 7 should of been icing. Penguins always get calls since they're the fairies of the game,

  • You're a fucking retard. Pittsburgh was mere weeks away from losing its team, as it's a shitty hockey city. You don't have any real fans. You have bandwagon fans, a bunch of 20-something year old kids who all have a giant collective boner for Cindy (yourself included). You should be ashamed that your team had to be so fucking awful for so long, just to get enough top three draft picks to finally pull together a semi-cohesive team.

  • @jimih64 love when you make a comment on my name like a youtube name means anything fucking idiot.

Keep talking about pens fans we love how fucking stupid you are. Actually the pens were bad for a couple years after making the playoffs for 12 in a row. Do you even know all the reasons why the pens were awful or why they were going to move? No you probably dont just like every other dumbass who just hates the pens and doesnt know shit

  • @Crosbyisapimp Yeah, a youtube name doesn't mean anything... except when it clearly displays your obvious bias to everyone. If my name was Briereisapimp you would automatically assume I was a Sabres fan. And if all my comments sucked Briere off as much as yours do Crosby, then you would assume I was obviously biased in favor of Buffalo.

Do you get it now, or are you just flat out retarded?

  • you apparently said fuck you to school to. Cause man you can't type ha

  • I used to hate listening to Steve Levy call games... Sucks that they paired him with Panger. I always like Pang calling games... and Levy would just bring them down. BTW I remember watchin this game from beginning to end. Bot my lil bro's friend in trouble cuz I refused to give him a ride home until this game was over.

  • I was still in high school for this game, I remember I had pretty good homework load and the game outlasted the homework lol

  • I really have trouble calling Crosby a great player, if only for his complete lack of two-way play. He's lazy defensively.

  • he's not captain material

  • Exactly. He dives and whines. He has exactly the opposite attitude/"air" around him that a captain ought to have.

  • your right leading his team to the playoffs 3 years in a row and back to back finals with a cup win but yea your right he isnt captain material

  • you're 1/2 right. pens are better than the flyers but idk if the flyers are better than they were last season.

  • They are better tham they were ;ast year. They're more well-rounded, even though they lost the scoring of Lupul and Knuble. It's just a matter of consistency and getting the offense going, cause they've still got plenty of talent there...once everyone is firing, the Flyers will resemble the team they were last year, only with a better defense.

  • havent even ever watched him play? you obviously havent if you say he isnt a two way player, your a joke

  • That's the Pittsburgh I know. Can't sell out even after a Championship year! TYPICAL BAND WAGONERS!!!!

  • hell yeah. The were one yer away from moving to Kansas.

  • ah the good old days when hockey was on ESPN

  • in my opinion this is THE best goal in overtime ever.

    Playoff Game

    5OTs

    Big time rivals

and the better team comes out on top

    Shittsburgh sucks

    GO FLYERS!

  • maybe the better team back then.

  • and now

you have to see what happens this season before you can say back then

  • I'm a Detroit fan, so I'm definitely not looking for any reason to side with Pittsburgh. But they're better than the Flyers. Yes, the Flyers will be better than they were last year, but they still have some work needed to be done.

  • i highly disagree

the Pens lost a lot of there "so called" good players and they didnt get anyone worth mentioning in the draft

so its just Malkin and Fleury (cuz Crosby cant play real hockey)

The Flyers on the other hand

Can score. They had the best offense in the league but they had horrible defense and medicore goalie

    but

added players and improved in the areas they needed to improve at

so i have no doubt they are better than the Pens. no doubt

  • Don't be ignorant dude. Crosby is a great player. Yes, he and his agent are sleeping with Bettman. But that doesn't make him any less of a great player. Flyers had the best offense? Not really, that title went to the Wings.

  • wrong

    1st of all

he is NOT a great player

    he's good, obviously

    but not GREAT

    MALKIN is great

    that dude can play

and the Flyers did have the best offense

they had more guys with 20 or more goals then any other team

  • Flyers had 1 more player above 20 than the Wings, but Sameulson had 19 so that's close enough.

Wings had the most goals for, and highest goals per game average. but those stands go hand-in-hand.

  • yeah trust me

i have nothing against the wings

i own a wings jersey lol

the Flyers and Wings had pretty much the deadliest offenses around

the only difference was the defense/goaltending

and the Wings were by far better in that category

but tomorrow, the Flyers will bet them Red Wings =]

  • ya 19 isn't 20 and close dont count in hockey it only counts in Nuke's horseshoes and hand gernades. But this yr the flyers will be holding the cup and it will be them vs the wings or the black hawks for the cup

  • Well I recall them being swept by the Wings in their last finals match-up.

  • Well you are right but that was back in 1996 both teams have diffrent players than back than so there like 2 new teams so the match up is diffrent when it happens this yr. Flyers win the series 4-2 over the wings

  • nah.

  • wrong. Philly's not going to win a cup this year, or anytime soon.

  • They are definitely in competitive form. The a solid goalie has yet to be proven. Only thing Pittsburgh has over the flyers now. Well in my belief. The Fleury isn't very good recovering post to post. And can mentally be rattled after letting up his second. It's gonna be a interesting post season even though it's only like 5 games in.

  • Oh, no, fuck Pittsburgh, too. I'm just saying, the Flyers are fucking garbage. The entire organization is still run like it's the 80s.

  • Way to rebut a post with pretty much nothing. I think they made a lot of good acquisitions this year. The division is gonna be tight as usual but that's what makes it interesting.

  • hey my brother came on here and started talking shit or sumthing lol. i dunno, ignore whateva he said.

  • Yeah Crosby isn't great. He's not even the best player in his team. He's good with a lot of hockey sense. But he's not in the same cloth of greatness like a Gretzky. Malkin is a better player as much as I hate to admit it. (He makes a lot of dirty plays.) But when he gets older and more mature he'll clean that up.

  • I watched this entire game when it happened.

    Primeau was the man.

  • i think its funny how the guy says "its a city of champions: at the 0:18 marker. and now everyone is saying that shit again about pit. fuck them they aint no city of champions.

  • first city to win the super bowl and stanley cup in the same season, what exactly would that make pittsburgh then?

  • lucky. well, places like new england have done it...but only baseball/football.

  • just stop

  • well im right..just putting it out there. not looking for an argument, but i just don't like how pit thinks they are god now that they win a superbowl and a stanley cup.

  • no, you are looking for an argument. thats why you posted to begin with

no one is "lucky" when they win a championship. there is no "coincidence" in these types of things. we dont "think" we're good, we know we're good. we're better than every single team in the league, championships determine that.

i don't consider the phillies "lucky" because they won, and i won't consider the flyers "lucky" should they win. keep digging for excuses and you will lead a miserable life, if you're not already

  • I feel ya. Cockiness has a tendency of biting you back

  • Edmonton is the city of champions, fucking Penguins Crosby is a joke.

  • Edmonton? When was their last championship?

  • 1990

  • Yah 5 in 7 years....try to match that fag bot crosby
