Throw in drugs, poor education, lack of appropriate guidance and mentors and you have a recipe for high crime and obsession with all things sexual in nature which serve to perpetuate the dilemma. It's a vicious cycle that's hard to break so many choose "escapism" such as this. IMO, these people are attempting to cope with pressures they don't even understand or recognize.
