People say stirling engines have no torque, but this nicely shows that they are incorrect. Could an engine pump water without torque? And if this simple example has any, then properly engineered engines clearly do.
That, of course, is quite apart from NASA's use of them.
Im impressed with the water pump you made for this engine. I made one with a tube and plunger, and the bottom of the tube has a check valve and the plunger has a check valve so each stroke brings up water. But yours seems to be valve free like perhaps the tube has 2 holes, top of stroke and bottom of stroke. Do you have a drawing of this pump or some details how the pump works?
I tried complicated valves within pipes etc and a piston with a hole in it and a self sealing cover, and settled for simplicity! 3 holes just above the bottom end of stroke refills cylinder, small losses as it rises and it just overflows out the top pipe!
B&Q ! They sell assorted bar, rod, brass pipe etc. Cut and silver soldered together. A bit difficult aligning the shafts, but eventually got it straight.
It wasnt designed with speed in mind! The motion is actually rather heavy, and it probably is running about full speed. I was more concerned with good airtightness (is there such a word?) and friction free running.
nice cooling systhem!!!

self cooling stirling!!?? awesome!!

Thats genious, I'm amazed to see your design and the fact it's actually doing work other than keeping it's self rotating. Brilliant.

Prety cool machine!
I see you based in the "Teacup stirling engine".
Have you ever used it for other aplication?
a generator?
fan?
a car?
I'd like to know, that way I'd ask you a couple of things

@cornejor23 Hi, What you see is what you get. Im working on another engine now, ready next year??

@theoldman777
I'm working on a machine,
I think I'll be working until next year, because Im making it to power a little toy car -from scratch-
When I finish I'll upload a video ;)

I hear an r/c car in the background? Or perhaps some household electric motor? Hehe.
Very *cool* design. ;)

very very nice water pump, I used a radiator on mine an was considering how to add a pump, now i think a simple alteration will do just fine :D
Great Stirling good job

In other words, nicely done, I like the pump :)

It's pumping its own coolant!
Does it have to be a pineapple can or can I get away with a baked bean can? ;-)

Great looking and running engine. Where did you get the parts for the crank assembly?
