It is intense to ask if at this point ( as in contrast to any other point) Michael crosses over into pure evil -- and whether we can even do anything but laugh all the way through GF III? (One has to wonder whether Coppola had forgotten the character created years ago. He seemed to want to pass all the evil to Connie!!!???)

Michael didn't want to kill Fredo but he HAD to. In the mafia one SMALL weakness can get you killed. If Fredo lives, it sends a message that someone can attempt to kill you and be given a pass. Thus why Fredo had to die.

The real reason Michael had Fredo killed was because he wanted to be the one to run some mickey mouse nightclub and go pick people up at the airport. Instead Fredo got the job and Michael was jealous.

The whole crux of the matter was Sonny showing his interest in Sollozo's deal. The Turk knew if he could knock off Don Corleone, Sonny would be weak enough to give in. Sonny should have kept his mouth shut.

Don Michael should have never killed Fredo. Don't you think he felt remorse for it? That's what part of Don Michael's regrets were in Three.

fredo was a retard thats why they sent him to vegas. When vito got shot, Fredo drop his gun tryna defend him. The best scene was when connie begged him to forgive Fredo, and as he hugged Fredo he looked up slowly at his boy AL because like vito said "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" thats why sonny would've been a horrible Godfather, he woulda killed everybody and ruined the Corleone family....But i was sad to see him die.
