Ron pauls says that he wants to allow for gold and silver to be used as legal tender along with the dollar. That is his plan. He believes the people should decide what is money. He is about having a free market in everything, not just a gold standard. He just feels that gold is better than what we have now. And our government printing money could potentially create the same problems of inflation when done irresponsibly, and government is bound to act irresponsibly.

Paul has a plan for implementation of a Gold standard; he is wrote a bill that will allow currency competition. Maybe bill you do not follow the news yourself.
