VD is much better than Twilight. First of all, they have fangs. Vampires need fangs, not sparkles, this isn't a fairy princess show! Secondly, the main characters are much better, on screen and off. Bella is a helpless, whiny, pathetic girl that needs Edward by her side 24/7. Not to mention Kristen Stewart can't act, or fricking smile every once in a while. Elena is a strong, independent girl who tries as hard as she can to be normal despite Stefan. Plus, Nina is gorgeous, bubbly and talented.

It's just wrong to call your daughter with a male name( would you call a woman Scott, John, Peter?). That's how ridiculous Nina "Dobrev" sounds to a Slavic person. Just NASTY. It's a betrayal of our CULTURE.

I can agree that mostly of the girls which falls in love with vampires in movies and tv shows are brunettes. But actually, Buffy is blonde, and that show is my favourite =) If I should make a movie or a tv show about vampires, I would have made a story about a girl who is a vampire and a human boy, and that they falls in love... And maybe that the story would be about the vampire and not about the human... Just to make it different from other stories =)

I read the Vampire Diaries books when I was younger and yeah there are obvious differences in the book versus the show but the show is so good that it isn't dissapointing that its different. Its nice, I think. Plus brunettes are better than blondes lol i'm just kidding! Noone get mad, its a joke!

Of course the Elena in the book is blonde, but the Elena in the book is much, much different than the Elena on the show.Nina portrays Elena as a nice, relaxed, likable girl. Not at all like the Elena in the book. I'm not saying it's because she is not blonde on the show that makes her nice and likable, but the way she portrays Elena, I think it's much better to keep her as a brunette.It seems to match the character better.But the show is different, so all of the characters are as well.I love it!

What a pretty girl! When I read the books, I would imagine Elena Gilbert to be like this younger version of Reese Witherspoon (lol don't ask why). But after seeing Nina play the role, I believe that nobody could play Elena better than Dobrev. I'm sure die-hard book fans would've been disappointed with her not being blonde, but honestly, I like Elena much better brunette. It adds this weird "darkness" and mystery to the show lol (PUNNED) ;)
