cocktail kits were first introduced in the late 30's and 40's and were used by the gigging drummer of that era when they played small cramped cocktail lounges and bars, hence the name cocktail kit !! the extended floor tom acts as both floor and kick .... i have played with these kits before and didn't have to always stand up..i used a bar stool and it worked nicely.. !!
i dont know much about cocktail kits this is the first time i have seen one. are you standing up while you play that? what is the point of a cocktail kit as apposed to a regular one?
Well, cool...but...you need to tune and dampen that kit...I know...I have one. The snare would benefit from (1) raising it off of the tom/kick a half inch before locking it down and then putting a snare ring and dampening gel on the snare head. I put a small camping pillow that I velcro-ed inside the bass/tom. Much less ringing and interaction.
Now, about this video...that long preface to your actual playing is annoying as hell.
I love that peace kit man

yes, in a way, it's a "portable" set, and he is "playing" it, as you can see it.

the cocktail set is meant for smaller venues. which is why you stand when playing.

originally make for playing cocktail parties, where musicians have very little room to situate, so yes you stand to play
