He's just so so awful... I have quite a few of his dvds, every time he is just so disappointing.. Every now and again he makes funny jokes, like now, other times its just awful.
Only the most crass and vulgar Aussies say "root" in that context. Most, or at least a lot of us still have enough dignity and standards of speech. For instance my nan will curse loudly and angrily at the drop of a hat, but you wouldn't dare say "Root" (in a vulgar context) or "Fuck" around her.
The term pulls double duty as both definitions, like "Bolt" (Could mean to fasten/secure, or to run away/flee)
I find it odd that an Irishman is calling Australia conservative and yet Ireland has never had a left wing government and Australia has and indeed has the left in power at the moment. the Labor Party and the Liberal/National Coalition are on opposite ends of the spectrum to each other and yet in Ireland Fine Gael (Conservatives) and Fianna Fail (Liberals/Soft Conservatives) or the only two parties who ever have a chance of leading a government and no real alternative.

@irishgodfatherchris If we are lacking in tact how have we exerted so much influence on the world? The Irish have probably the most influential diaspora in the world. Look how many powerful people have Irish surnames. Not the results i would expect from a people who lack tact.
