why is the place so dirty and so much broken glass and no walls and machines thrown arround and why were medical records left behind...it just looks like people walked out and topok nothing out of there..is that what happened ?
My great aunt Stephanie was In the Eloise INsane Asylum for years. I believe from 1928 till they shut it down from there i dont know where she went. where did they take all the patients when they closed eloise down?
this is on michigan ave just past merriman.... there is no fire station, it has not been reconstructed, parts have been tore down an alll in all just minimized.. i lived by it my whole life and its justa building now.
Wanna read something weird...my birth certificate is from 1974 and the city is Eloise...im adoped now...but am trying to find any info that I can from there...I know I was born there for one reason or another...from what I find it closed in Jan of 74 and I was born Jan of 74...hmmmmmmmmm....got any info please inbox or leave comment please...
@DougsWife100 I was born there in '75. They converted one wing to an OB unit and that's where all the patients with medicaid or no insurance were sent.

@DiceOfChanc3 Only this bottom floor, and the second floor are open in the eloise, the 3rd floor and up are inaccessable due to the fact the elevator won't go passed the 2nd floor for some odd reason, maintnance has tried several times to get it to work resulting in fail each time. but they say the floors past the 2nd is what's considered to be haunted.
That's exactly the way I remember the place from 1994 when me and some friends ventured there on Devils night for a tour. I still can't believe all those patient records just laying around like that, what a disgrace now that I think about it.
This is not Eloise Hospital, This is Northville regional psychiatric hospital.

i was in there last night, it was pretty cool its amazing how different it looks now, im not even sure if this is the same building, or not, because they knocked down one of them, the one i went into was more industrial pipes and tunnells and stuff
@marinesnip no there are only like 6 buildings there now, 2 are still in use, but i believe as like a halfway home or shelter for woman, the actual only abandonned ones are the fire house, the bakery and the powerhouse witch is by far the most interesting and creepy, that was the one i went into
@DangleSan We went there today and got a bunch of pictures of this building, it's all reconstructed and all nice. We got pictures of the Fire Department next door. We couldn't go in the back by the tunnels, but go some good pictures. Then we went across the street and went by the train tunnel that used to go to the hospital. Very interesting. It says 1927 on the concrete.
I live like 10 minutes away from this place and drive past it to go to school almost everyday it is very creepy my sis and my friends boyfriend has been in there and say it is haunted never been in there myself just looking at it creeps me out its like the darkest place out of the whole street which really creeps me out two.
that place was really messed up it actually goes about ten story's underground and there are actually jail type cells down there and a huge hall way that runs underground to the adjacent hospital near bye it is actually a really scary place and the history is very haunting if i could take back exploring that place i totally would
This video sure brought back memories. I was born and raised in Wayne and Westland (born in 64). Eloise was kind of sad, you could see patients walking the grounds, standing by the fence looking forlorn or waving. I have a hilarious story from this place. In the early 70's my Brownie troop went to Eloise to do an Easter play at the nursing home. In the middle of my monologe, an elderly patient stood up and started undressing. I was so scared, and they hustled us out fast. LOL
@VIXXSIN1 now you know what you will have to expect with YOUR parents when they get up to that age...they do ALL sorts of crazy things that you had better get used to, or are you just going to throw away your mom and dad to a cheap nursing home? Wait 'till YOU turn 80 or 90 and do drive thru with no clothes on! Scary? The young bankers, politicians and corporate moguls of the world!!
@VIXXSIN1 haha that's a great story, we had a hospital a couple of towns over, Danvers State Hospital and my grandparents and dad would tell me stories about when they went up there to see it and people were barking like dogs and it was filthy and covered in feces. It's rather sad considering fifty-sixty years later it's not all that different if not worse in these asylums. :(
I grew up shack town, went all through that place in the late 80's until 94 when I moved to AZ. That place is nuts, I remember jail cells and rooms being flooded with water. Pretty crazy place.
Bet they have mesothelioma from going around there. There's a reason it's abandoned, the insulating for the pipes contained asbestos. And mental institutions were no longer needed near the last 15 years of the 20th century because of medicines and knowledge of psychiatry. If someone wanted to safely explore and capture footage on tape it would cost you a lot. You'd need has mat suits, and breathing masks with filters small enough to capture asbestos.
I remember I use to go through all kinds of crazy abandonments, stuff that makes u jumpy i remember always wearing BDUs n vest n respirators n a weapon, and lighter just to feel secure in case some kind of supernatural, zombie, FEAR kinda shit happened esp. since lots a bad things happen in asylums and hospitals.
me and my friends used to travel the tunnels back in like 91 and we actually found some of the "test rooms" where they tortured the patients. we have also found (diggin around, being young) full skeletons out in merriman field. thats where they would dump the bodies when they went too far with patients. those tunnels were haunted beyond belief. lots of weird things go on there...still....
The people in there 'may' have also been used as test subjects for other drugs...it's been known, if they go mad or die... well, blame it on them, no litigation, everyones a winner... there was famously a case won by an intern to one of these places when a freedom of information act forced the CIA to reveal documents that they indeed performed drug experiments on these people...maybe the wave of indignation closed a large amount of these places after this was revealed.
Anybody else remember the Northville Tunnels? Northville tunnels. Where I got a ticket for tresspassing the night we went down there and you said we'd do it in the pool but then you chickened out, 'member? Yeah, yeah. You know. You're the one who spent my college years driving around town in the car with the "I'm so goth I'm dead" bumpersticker. Just because you can't lie to me doesn't mean we can't be friends. Northville Tunnels... 'member?
that sounds funny the way i sed it but my brother and his friends go to that place. they take video and it looks fun. its like a treasure hunt. you will find the most amazingly random things like, a computer form the 50's or a couple of 20 pound lead batteries.
thier used to be a old tunnel from westalnd med center. to that place . i snuck down when i was a kid with a few of my friends about 1973/4. scary place lots went on thier from all the old storys.westland wayne. and the ols sherrifs station on hnry ruff and mich ave. its haunted ya know. well the grounds now. from what i recall.. alot of old storys from way back.. ohh by the way all the gutters and old downspouts were made of copper.. nice little haul for some!. anyways westalnd/wayne sad sad
I wonder what happened to all of the antique x-ray tubes and medical devices, some of which they had on display in the main hospital. it wouldnt surprise me if it was all trrashed and mowed over too. some of the older buildings had furnishings and other items dating back to the 1800's. i bet someone in the area made out with some nice finds.
you guys are so lucky, i dont have anything like that here in the uk, it would be so cool to film a movie in a place like that! could you get some more footage or photos?
we have loads of stuff like that in the uk, i made a vid called 'west park insane asylum' just a few days ago.......... i wouldn't recommend going tho cos it was fuckin dangerous with the floors falling thru and asbestos warning signs everywhere, and security called the police on me, but i escaped HAHAHA
we have these places in the usa that are referred to as the kirkbride buildings after the doctor who came up with the asylum system back in the 1850s.
they are all abandoned now and most have been demolished. there is a large tract of land in downtown columbia sc that was once the state mental hospital. this property is now for sale for developement and I hope my company gets some of the contracts to tear down those buildings because there will be many artifacts unearthed.
I've hours and hours of footage!! Tunnels and all the floors I'll be uploading soon. Unfortunately I was aproached to work on a documentary on Eloise and all of a sudden my partners disappeared. They wasted 9 months of my time so I figured I'd upload the footage then rather let it go to waste...
I live by here its fuckin freaky at night plus now the tunnels are closed off and there is no way to get into the building but you can still hear and see shit creepy shit
oh shit, dis the old eloise, well whats that one between wayne and inksters borders its bottom floor is an office but the rest is deteriated and they say the elevators which dont work go up and down and hit, i see the abandoned one behind it tho
I went there too, me and my freinds rode our bikes from dearborn and took michigan ave the whole way. but we were in a hurry and couldnt find a way in, how did you get into the tunnels?
theres no one living in there anymore they got everything blocked off and so when my brothers come back from vegas we'll do a video of that place dark or light out if anyone wants to join just hit me up cause it will be soon that we will be goin there doesnt matter whose in there if there is someone still in there ill beat him with a bat lol
Normally I'm a big fan of "Black Humour" - it's the only way to cope with stressful situations, but, come on girls, show some respect for the previous inmates. Remember, surveys show that 1 in 4 of us will suffer mental health problems at some point. Some are lucky enough to have some family support, some don't have that option...
The nuthouse I was in for a few weeks wasn't so bleak, but within the same hospital grounds were Victorian-era buildings exactly like this. They were used until very recently. The staff used to use "I'll send you across to that fuckin' hellhole" as a tool for recalcitrant "patients". The more vulnerable amongst us belleived these ominous threats. Cuckoo's Nest wasn't so far from the truth folks
yeah, i think half of that shit was torn down....someone correct me if i'm wrong. i went there a couple weeks ago, ended up running because the 5-0 showed up.
Went in there last summer, going back this one with more ppl and cameras. Fucking place was disturbing as hell and the whole structure was unstable and falling apart so be careful, you can get fucked up easily in there. Night time was the ideal time for us to go because its harder to get caught and dont park next to it, or the kroger parking lot. we parked in the neighborhood off of mich ave right by the 7/11 and ran all the way there. Dont even bring just one other person at least bring 2 or 3.
if anyone wants to go to that place dont go to the basement or the morgue its very dangerous belive me its not a joke there is someone living in that place and he is dangerous
This was boring your all a fucking pussys what was the point of being scared ? it wasn't even dark and what was with what you were wearing ? that was just lame
Aaron, how much urban exploring have you done yourself? Ever been in an abandoned hospital? Sometimes it can be scary, but it's not reason to get on someone for a simple fear...
Also, regarding what they're wearing, perhaps you should take note that the video was shot around 1993... Styles were different back then.
It's a shame that you have to spread your negativity, just because you don't want to accept something for what it is... If you don't like it, move on.
Don't worry kid, someday you'll make it to fourth grade, learn grammar and punctuation, build up your self-esteem to a decent level. Then you may not be perceived as the sniveling little shit you are now.
P.S. Your mom wanted me to tell you that she's sorry for calling you "bug-nuts", last night, but she insists that you not call her when she's busy sucking dick.
I was upstairs inside one of the buildings while the wrecking ball was demolishing. Brick ruble was flying across the room at us. I used to skip school and hang out there. There's tunnels connecting buildings to the hospital and old firestation. Eloise used to be a complete community with it's own money, farms, police, jail, firestation, hospital, bar, cemetary. A truely deep rich history there, I went through the records.
I would love to see all the history there... the one thing I like about michigan is all the history behind everything still present... like all those papers, are prolly still there! I would so love to go in it!!! please you gotta tell me what roads this place is located on
michigan and merriman, there are only four buildings left. not really worth the trip anymore. and northville is completly gone, best bet for something scary and still up is the abandoned hospital in traverse city.
hmmm... I would at least like to drive by this place one day... I live in westland michigan... where is it at? at what roads? I would soooo love to go in there!
me and my freinds went there a month ago, we saw the old fire house and the buildings behind the main building were scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hello, my name is Melissa and I am a member of Fountain House in NYC. John Beard work at Eloise and eventually became the director of Fountain House, which is a psychosocial rehabilitation center for people with mental illness, aka a "clubhouse"
What is the address?? I wanna go see it.

i was in there last night, it was pretty cool its amazing how different it looks now, im not even sure if this is the same building, or not, because they knocked down one of them, the one i went into was more industrial pipes and tunnells and stuff
DangleSan 1 year ago
@DangleSan
You where there about a week ago? I thought that all of the buildings where gone now! That supermarket is there on that site!
marinesnip 1 year ago
@marinesnip no there are only like 6 buildings there now, 2 are still in use, but i believe as like a halfway home or shelter for woman, the actual only abandonned ones are the fire house, the bakery and the powerhouse witch is by far the most interesting and creepy, that was the one i went into
DangleSan 11 months ago
@DangleSan We went there today and got a bunch of pictures of this building, it's all reconstructed and all nice. We got pictures of the Fire Department next door. We couldn't go in the back by the tunnels, but go some good pictures. Then we went across the street and went by the train tunnel that used to go to the hospital. Very interesting. It says 1927 on the concrete.

LOL
VIXXSIN1 1 year ago
@VIXXSIN1 now you know what you will have to expect with YOUR parents when they get up to that age...they do ALL sorts of crazy things that you had better get used to, or are you just going to throw away your mom and dad to a cheap nursing home? Wait 'till YOU turn 80 or 90 and do drive thru with no clothes on! Scary? The young bankers, politicians and corporate moguls of the world!!
CRAZYMARK 1 year ago
@VIXXSIN1 haha that's a great story, we had a hospital a couple of towns over, Danvers State Hospital and my grandparents and dad would tell me stories about when they went up there to see it and people were barking like dogs and it was filthy and covered in feces. It's rather sad considering fifty-sixty years later it's not all that different if not worse in these asylums. :(
thEannoyingE 1 year ago

I remember I use to go through all kinds of crazy abandonments, stuff that makes u jumpy i remember always wearing BDUs n vest n respirators n a weapon, and lighter just to feel secure in case some kind of supernatural, zombie, FEAR kinda shit happened esp. since lots a bad things happen in asylums and hospitals.
xxReaverXXCerberusxx 1 year ago
me and my friends used to travel the tunnels back in like 91 and we actually found some of the "test rooms" where they tortured the patients. we have also found (diggin around, being young) full skeletons out in merriman field. thats where they would dump the bodies when they went too far with patients. those tunnels were haunted beyond belief. lots of weird things go on there...still....
hillbillyrye 1 year ago
@ChrisRizz2010
No, it's a shelter for women and children now.
GothaBella 1 year ago

I wonder what happened to all of the antique x-ray tubes and medical devices, some of which they had on display in the main hospital. it wouldnt surprise me if it was all trrashed and mowed over too. some of the older buildings had furnishings and other items dating back to the 1800's. i bet someone in the area made out with some nice finds.

we have these places in the usa that are referred to as the kirkbride buildings after the doctor who came up with the asylum system back in the 1850s.
they are all abandoned now and most have been demolished. there is a large tract of land in downtown columbia sc that was once the state mental hospital. this property is now for sale for developement and I hope my company gets some of the contracts to tear down those buildings because there will be many artifacts unearthed.

Normally I'm a big fan of "Black Humour" - it's the only way to cope with stressful situations, but, come on girls, show some respect for the previous inmates. Remember, surveys show that 1 in 4 of us will suffer mental health problems at some point. Some are lucky enough to have some family support, some don't have that option...
p97154 2 years ago
The nuthouse I was in for a few weeks wasn't so bleak, but within the same hospital grounds were Victorian-era buildings exactly like this. They were used until very recently. The staff used to use "I'll send you across to that fuckin' hellhole" as a tool for recalcitrant "patients". The more vulnerable amongst us belleived these ominous threats. Cuckoo's Nest wasn't so far from the truth folks
p97154 2 years ago
yeah, i think half of that shit was torn down....someone correct me if i'm wrong. i went there a couple weeks ago, ended up running because the 5-0 showed up.

AaronDrake22 2 years ago
