  • Nice but how many things is he wearing

  • All star coldblooded line up.....

  • nice song

  • man sonny likes so hip in this video!

  • Love the Tito Jackson hat!

  • also, George Benson-guitar, Airto -percussion,

  • Is that BIll Watrous on Trombone?

    dre in S.F.

  • Yes it's Watrous

  • Is that also Freddy Hubbard on tpt, Hubert Laws on flute? Who is on drums?

  • woooooow!

  • "This performance is not commercially available. will remove upon request."

    Don't you DARE, Dave!!

  • one technicality, to note

this song was made by Cannonballs brother nat, so he should have gotten credit instead

no matter, still an awesome song

  • But it was the CANNONBALL Adderley Quintet that made Nat's amazing compositions famous.

  • This lineup is insane!!!!!

  • This is all good stuff. Check out Stanley Clarke on base; he must be still a teenager here!

  • it wasn't fair to sonny, because the song was so short; he has good tone, but rahsaan was doing the circular breathing/quick notes stuff he always does, and he tops it off with both saxes at the end.

  • Short song...but Rollins dont sound that good here..Rahsaan just wiped him up!

  • You're right, Rahsaan shuts Sonny down, but Sonny sounded good. Rahsaan just sounded better. And this is a hard song to play well. Damn.

  • Sike... Its sonny rollins.. If you thought he could play better.. He most definately could. They are both soo husky in there tones.. man, whatever... they didn't really have that much time to get it going.

  • nice hat, sonny!

  • FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!

  • I saw Kirk at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago, downstairs at the Brown Shoe, and he so perfectly described a woman sitting in the back, talking, that she had to get up and leave. This was a blind man telling us what she had on, where she went to school, etc...he stopped playing, talked about her for five minutes, and then went back EXACTLY where he had been in the piece he was playing. Unreal. Sonny Stitt was there that afternoon, sitting in the audience. Kirk wouldn't let him up to play.

  • wow, man i've heard about how kirk could recognize people by the sound of their footsteps. Crazy stuff, i guess when i genius loses one sense, his others become inhuman.

  • Could Kirk hang with Rollins? Here's proof.....

  • man I love Sonny Rollins, but Rashaan cut him REAL hard haha

  • @Superstud079 I don't know Rashaan very well, but on this video, Sonny Rollins is way better than him (actually he's kinda the only one playing a solo so we can't really judge)

  • I left St. Louis almost six years ago and I haven't missed it for a minute. Professional sports, mediocre music, and lousy weather is all St. Louis had to offer. Oh yeah, Rahsaan was and is da bomb. R.I.P.

  • sick

  • I love Rahsaan!

  • Sonny is great...and then you hear Rahsaan...I seen him play after his stroke...one hand and he was better than most with both hands...he was a gift from God man.

  • Great, 1268 stars.

  • In this video Rashaan`s left hand is paralysed?

  • I wish Chick, Freddie , George and Hubert could've soloed too-but time restrictions I suppose. That's why good jazz on TV is an oxymoron.

  • DAMN I loves me some Roland Kirk

  • You have a Roland Kirk t-shirt? Kirk used to be the logo for a record store in St. Louis, Vintage Vinyl. They might still have some. Used to be pretty popular.

  • Still is a major hot spot in the Loop, I go all the time.

  • I miss it so much and still consider it home, even though I haven't lived there in twenty years. Just can't let go. The weather though...

  • the weather is crazy I agree, for example today was 72 in the STL and its Jan 6, and will probably be negative 20 tomorrow. But god damn it's an awesome city.

  • what a band.

  • wow, hubert laws, freddie hubbard, george benson, sonny rollins, roland kirk, stanley clarke, all on the same stage

  • I SOOOOO want to like Sonny but I really feel like his tone went to s**t after about 1965.

  • Great Performance!!!

Two of the all-time Tenor Sax Greats in a rare meeting.

Too bad the prodcuers of the TV show didn't let Rahsaan and Sonny REALLY stretch out !
