  • this is a true story.............I started playing for my church at age 7 (now 50). My mother went to music store and bought me a gospel book by Roberta Martin.............I played for the senior choir.........(by music) and played for them (and other choirs in my church till i married at 35 and moved to Richmond,Va................I still love these songs, they touched my heart at a young age and up till and even today..................may God bless.

  • My favorite is How Albertina Walker just ad libs at the luls and blends in with great gospel harmony. what else can be said after that?

  • Absolutely nothing......THAT'S WHAT!!! Albertina Walker is truly one of the MOST annointed singers gospel music has EVER heard!!!!

  • james cleveland and just listen to that glorious roll call of gospel greats. is this heaven????

  • A VERY GREAT MINISTER!!

  • The man is annointed. To God be the glory.

  • When the other "white boys" were into the ol' blues records, I was into stuff like this: Cleveland, shirley caesar, caravans-- hearin this really brings me back to a great time!! Bless God for James -- and for the Hammond organ too!!!

  • Only a look at Jesus

Oh so bowed down with care

  • Oh,and thanks for the lyrics;we need more lyrics. You can read them like poems and get deeper into the meaning that way!

  • Outstanding!!!

  • I'm 63 and I still go back. I love some of the music from today, but when my soul needs restin' I go back to these old, old songs that never fade away.

  • Feeling like one of the old Baptist Mothers.." THANK YA! THANK YA JESUS!!!"....good stuff bro.

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS :-)

  • Some contemporary gospel is ok, but when you want unquestioned, undiluted and absolute true annointing. There is NOTHING like old school TRADITIONAL. God bless all those who are still with us and receive those who aren't. Thank you for this beautiful piece of annointed history.

  • AMAZING!!!!!

  • what church is that? it looks huge.

  • I deeply miss James Cleveland too.

  • When did this recording take place?

  • Outstanding.....WOW!!!

  • Classic!

  • People don't,or I should say, can't sing like that.We still have a few that sings like that.We need to go back to that. When i need a blessing from God,Amazing Grace comes to mind.

  • I had the pleasure (and I DO mean pleasure) of praying with Mrs. Campbell just before her celebration this year. She is ANOINTED. Even from a hospital bed (and I called to check on HER) she encouraged ME! Dig that.

  • This is when they use to sing "real" Gospel Music!

    "Grace & Peace"

    Eld. George E. M. Stanton

    Elder J.K. Rodgers

  • Tramaine Hawkins sounds a little like Delois Barrett, they both have those amazing soprano voices!

  • Sing Children Sing Bless his Name

  • Its amazing that I was in the audience. I am so honored to have been a part of some of the greatest history. My Godmother Patti Punch was directing. My uncle the Rev Issac Whittmon was singing. I remember meeting Rubin Lightfoot afterwards and he and my god-mother wrote a hit song. Jesus is real. I thank God for the experrence. Now, I'm producing some of the best music ever recorded.

  • Hallelujah! I hope that our youth see this, especially in the GMWA. Here are all the stars of that time getting together to bless GOd, without a contract rider. We don't get these kinds of moments at the GMWA anymore. If so, they are very few. God Bless you, minjimmierodgers, for posting this.

  • What can you say but, Hallelujah!!!

  • This was when gospel music was the real gospel music! God, I miss that great sound! Most everything now is jazzed' up, feels good to the foot' and messed up with no anointing of God!

  • To ebufford, I also do lament was has happened to our gospel music as a whole.Very few of our young people today under 40 yrs. really know the sound of what has been labeled golden gospel recordings( not the you-tubers, i know you all know)! Also there are other young people than have come to appreciate the real thing in black gospel. However ebufford, i share as others do, your point!

  • Hi ebufford, Also much thanks for the james cleveland, caravans(my favorite group),roberta martin singers(my other favorite group)video post!I bought the double album set over 20 yrs.ago but is not like being able to watch them(live).Ebufford, sir if you will,go to pewburner records website for golden gospel music c.d.'s you won't find in the stores! Be Blessed!

  • This is what I call Sho Nuff Gospel... I don't know what happened, but it just seemed to have gone away. I'm 34 and I always look back to James Cleveland, The Caravans, Mattie Moss Clark, etc. This is what you call real music.

  • James cleveland and the gospel allstars(he's just alright with me,just like he said he would)he was excellent with the VAN'S but also with the STARS!

  • We as the Pentecostal Ambassadors (musician as to myself)remember him as a great person 'off stage'. We are flown in for Keith Pringle's choir anniv. to LA. Rev. James cleveland called us and lent us his mers. stationwagon to have something to drive in LA while we were there. And He invited us by his big home for breakfast and dinner with Billy Preston. Something he didn't have to do at all. -never will forget his kingness!

  • Hi Ebufford, I love the i had an experience selection on one of the penticostal ambassadors c.d.'s.Keep up the good work for christ!

  • this looks like it was performed at the Mt Pisgah Church in Chicago, under the late Joseph Wells?

  • yes, it was. I thought I was the only one who knew that. I was a proud member of the Angelic Choir during Mt.Pisgah's heydays. We had one of the best choirs in the world. A host of musicians passed through Mt. Pisgah - Roberta Martin, James Cleveland, Willie Webb, Lucy Smith Collier, Gloria Griffin, Bessie Folk, Charles Pikes, Larry Woods, and many more.
