We Moslims need to understand that the wedding form we excute is NOT we want, but what others want to. Furthermore, we are wasting a lot of money and time, and we ware doing some stupid things during the wedding that has nothing to do with Islam. Example: a moslim girl would never dance in front of some unknown people, but during the wedding this and many other thing are suddenly no problem (!) while it's forbidden in Islam. That means: Making other people happy is way more important than Islam.
@dringtonbabe I have alot of friends with the name othman and omar but not abu baker because people see that name as a old name and not cause they are scared of shias! we are the ones who dont allow to name ali because its a shia name.. I dont hate shias.

tbh there is not a specific amount, the time of the Prophet SAW few Sahabas got married with few coins (Allah Knows how much they wer worth) and of course WHAT THE HUSBAND CAN AFFORD, u cant put a burden on the husband b4 marriage him pulling out few loans etc coz of the wedding, its not a good idea, BUT! this is the case for us these days...

@SIKM4N I think the high cost of mahr is because in case the wife gets a divorce, she can use that mahr money to survive looking at the fact the islamic court in many muslim countries dont give the woman good amount of post divorce financial support (Mut’at-al-Talaaq) . As Muslims,s we must remember to follow the guide that Allah swt sent to the world. the Prophet Muhammed saaw. An expense wedding is not following the Sunnah of Allah swt's messenger's saaw. I have a very complicated situation. & i would like the official ruling on a certain topic. Basically. Me and my partner have both accepted islam. We dont want to be together anymore because its a major sin. Both our parents are not muslim. should we get married with out the permission of the parents?..

If thats the case, please get married before asap. Its the best thing you both will be doing and for something Halal, you dont need parents permission. Infact Islam liberates you from that limitation. However, you could try speaking to your respective parents, and perhaps they might give in to be a part of it. Make Dua that they do, InshAllah.

The stigma that i'm facing being raised in a Malay society from Malaysia, the guy must be willing to fork out as much money as he can when he wants to propose a girl that he likes into a marriage. My father is more than happy to help with the ceremony but my 'candidate' is somehow being pressured by 'society's standards' that you got to have at least $25,000 for a wedding which is BS to me. He is working very hard to find a good job when he graduates but if only societies would be less demanding

the only thing I disagreed with is that you have to get married young. so many marriages fail because people feel they need to get married so young and don't even know THEMSELVES yet and therefore are unable to know what is best for themselves and their future, as well as their new spouse. you should find yourself, get through college, start your career and take time to know yourself better (travel the world, etc.) before marriage. marriage is a huge deal and people don't even realize it. sad.

@Hcivic786 there is no specific number depends ..but u can say like rich ppl pay more..some ppl pay small mahr but for the other things like Shabkah(neckless-ring..etc) they pay alooooot..some ppl take 20,000 SR to 50 SR thousand..some take 100 SR..if she wants a big wedding or expensive dress and she buy clothes before wedding with it...mostly more than 60,000 these days..SR..this is tha families that i knew..maybe others are diffrent.. btw 1 dollar = 3.75 SR..u do the math :p

tbh there is not a specific amount, the time of the Prophet SAW few Sahabas got married with few coins (Allah Knows how much they wer worth) and of course WHAT THE HUSBAND CAN AFFORD, u cant put a burden on the husband b4 marriage him pulling out few loans etc coz of the wedding, its not a good idea, BUT! this is the case for us these days...
May Allah help us to have a simple wedding and to get the most barakah in it! AMEEN!

@SIKM4N I think the high cost of mahr is because in case the wife gets a divorce, she can use that mahr money to survive looking at the fact the islamic court in many muslim countries dont give the woman good amount of post divorce financial support (Mut’at-al-Talaaq) . Actually 25 000 usd is not that much.

If thats the case, please get married before asap. Its the best thing you both will be doing and for something Halal, you dont need parents permission. Infact Islam liberates you from that limitation. However, you could try speaking to your respective parents, and perhaps they might give in to be a part of it. Make Dua that they do, InshAllah.

The stigma that i'm facing being raised in a Malay society from Malaysia, the guy must be willing to fork out as much money as he can when he wants to propose a girl that he likes into a marriage. My father is more than happy to help with the ceremony but my 'candidate' is somehow being pressured by 'society's standards' that you got to have at least $25,000 for a wedding which is BS to me. He is working very hard to find a good job when he graduates but if only societies would be less demanding

the only thing I disagreed with is that you have to get married young. so many marriages fail because people feel they need to get married so young and don't even know THEMSELVES yet and therefore are unable to know what is best for themselves and their future, as well as their new spouse. you should find yourself, get through college, start your career and take time to know yourself better (travel the world, etc.) before marriage. marriage is a huge deal and people don't even realize it. sad.
