I have to say, you're about the only person on youtube who knows dick about teaching music in a way that anyone can understand. I've been playing for a year and a half and of course I'm still learning and doing everything to improve and customize my own style to what fits me. As such, I usually search around for other people's vids such as yours to broaden my musical horizons. I can say without question that yours are by far more helpful than ninety percent of the crap lessons I've encountered.

What scales are funk lines typically in?

@grandolddrummer Personally, I wouldn't say any, typically. You can take parts out of any scale, and make it sound 'funky'. The real focus is on the timing, phrasing and pocket play.

Is everything standard on your guitar? Standard tuning, no effects/distortion. Cause mine is standard tuning and it sounds nothing like yours and its really bothering me.

Just memorize all your scales and modes. All of these lines are based off of a scale/mode.
