The only thing that I thought was lacking was the story, but then again it is a fighting game, so that shouldn't be directing your decision. I find it funny and frustrating that people hate this game because it either doesn't have a particular character or they added a feature so anyone can play the game if they use it. This game is so not fun. I've been hard-core Capcom fighting since '91, and MvC3 is one of my least favorite. MvC2 handles like a Porsche and this one is like a Buick. So slow, clunky and deliberate. Everything feels so pre-programmed and robotic, rather than fluid and dynamic like it's predecessor. Even Capcom vs Tatsunoka was more fun. Some way wacky roster choices too. Super Skrull, She-Hulk and Modock, nobody gives a fuck about those nobodies. Just not having fun with it.

It's only Under 10 Characters "Because" of the Roster. With MvsC2 with 56 Characters, there was a lot more to play even though it wasn't a Balance Roster.
MvsC3 does a Good Roster of Balance Characters but missed out many Fan Favorites only needed to be wait to be Pay by DLC, ripping off as they did with the $60 Price.

I love capcom hardcore but the dlc shit they pull is just to much they really really do anything to get more money lol I dont mind one or two dlc updates to make a game better but when they charge you just for characters and costumes and rumored a new mode or so its just kinda weird to me, they should just be in the game already for 60 bucks

This game is so not fun. I've been hard-core Capcom fighting since '91, and MvC3 is one of my least favorite. MvC2 handles like a Porsche and this one is like a Buick. So slow, clunky and deliberate. Everything feels so pre-programmed and robotic, rather than fluid and dynamic like it's predecessor. Even Capcom vs Tatsunoka was more fun. Some way wacky roster choices too. Super Skrull, She-Hulk and Modock, nobody gives a fuck about those nobodies. Just not having fun with it.

And the worst part is that some of the "New" characters plays the same way as some other old ones. Trish is Donovan, Mike is Sangi, Sentinel is Hulk with a bunch of long range attacks, and Taskmasters is just Spiderman fuse with Cap. America.

Unlike Marvel vs Capcom 3 or Super Street Fighter IV, you're not going to get much sexuality, comedy, innocence, colour, and cuteness in Mortal Kombat. Also, Mortal Kombat is not very healthy for your mind, especially after a stressful work day. You want to relax, have fun, laugh, and not take things so seriously. Mortal Kombat is not going to relieve me of stress. It will make me more likely to kill something. Not good.

@julio26789 Its a trade-off. Not only does Phoenix have a very strong set of attacks (some would say theyre bordering on overpowered, if not already there), but when she dies her Level 5 Hyper Ability automatically revives her as the Dark Phoenix.

They will address some of the issues (such as spectator mode, stages, etc.) with DLC. But 8.5 is a good score.

@AstronoughtNugget That's the point. If there was some more interesting Characters, it would increase the value of playing more than 10 Characters instead of under.
It's only Under 10 Characters "Because" of the Roster. With MvsC2 with 56 Characters, there was a lot more to play even though it wasn't a Balance Roster.
MvsC3 does a Good Roster of Balance Characters but missed out many Fan Favorites only needed to be wait to be Pay by DLC, ripping off as they did with the $60 Price.
