P-51d mustang low pass

I wonder if the NZAF is going to re-arm these P-51's so they have something that resembles an Air Force

Sorry prreith. I don't know why I confuse the Thunderbolt and the Mustang all the time completely different A/C. One of the best know P47 pilots of WW2 was Quentin Aanenson. I should know better- my bad!

Are you sure if wasn't a P-51a? It had RAF markings I'm sure.

The aircraft is presented in RNZAF markings.

P-51A did not have a teardrop canopy, versions A-C used the birdcage design. Model D and onward used the teardrop. So this is at least a D model.

That's so F**kin awesome. I got so see one when I was 12 or so at the Van Nuys airport do a low pass. Not as fast as this one but totally unforgettable and awesome.

they both have merlin engines lol. thats why the p51 and the spitfire sound incredible. except the way the p51 is made makes its engine make a "snarl" with a high pitch coolant in the mix. very beautiful sounds

I was there is and saw this, the wind was a little gusty that day, but the first pass was amazing, but my camera decided that was the day to screw up :(

no problems, it was a "litmited" pass because of the wind i guess, but still awesome to see it in person

@trunkmonkey01 it was returning from a charter thats why only one pass, he aslo came down wind

@trunkmonkey01 yeah the wind was high over 40 knots, half the other aircraft could not fly because of it, but thats NZ warbirds for ya, they few on a day where there was so much wind (over 40 knots) that they used a non commissioned runway! see my videos for that day
