all I have to say to that is that you guys dont know shit. this prince of persia is shit compared to the forgotten sands and the old prince of persias.
Sands of time would be amazingly awesome if the regular fights weren't fuckin impossible. The final battle is actually easier than regular fights. Everything else is fantastic.
Yeah the Sands of Time has one of the best Stories of any video game in the past 2 decades. It's right up there with KOTOR, Bioshock, and Uncharted 2.
SO WHY WHY WHY!!!! Did they decide to change that damn story for the movie. It's bad enough they got white actors with british accents playing persians, then they went and really ruined the movie by changing the story. It's gonna be about destiny now. He's not a Prince to start. It's gonna be the same old "Follow You Destiny" crap.
the visuals in the new Prince of Persia were stunning. The game was so beautiful and colorful and the Prince had a great personality and wonderful sense of humor. Elika was very likable too. But the old Prince wins for me hands down. I have this soft spot for heroes who are bitter and trying to solve their wrong doings. But I love both princes.
I always thought that fighting in Sands of time was better than the new one because it got pretty repetitive in the new one. Although you fight similar ish monsters in sands of time, you were able to use your environment like jumping off walls in sands.
One thing that I really hate about the old prince are combats! They are so limited and always the same! For me every time I saw that I am gonna fight i have fought : ''ohh my god, not again''...It is really more fun in the new prince.

Yeah, I agree completely. The new PoP left me thinking "where are all the puzzles?". But the combat system is AWESOME. Sands of Time battles were so tedious at times. :/

Amen @ Haziqonfire, that's a great way of seeing they just streamlined the "death" system of the other games which was pointed out to not be a true death at all. Overall, for better or worse the new PoP is best defined as "streamlined."
as a huge fan of the SoT and the new game, i also think the SoT is slightly better. just slightly though. the new game is truly awesome though, and one of my favorite games of 2008 (behind the master class game that is GTA IV)
I think I prefer the old prince, I have all the three Sands of Time games and after seeing what a fool the new Prince is, I have to go with the old 1.
I played all of the four games, and enjoyed each one of them. However, Warrior Within missed a few of the standard aspects of the trilogy. By this i mean the dagger of time, and Farah. The gameplay of the fourth really fits with me. There is this kind of flow while making your wat trough the levels. The one i least enjoyed was the Two Thrones. For me it was too similar to Warrior Within.
I agree that SoT should be the winner here, but I dont agree with the way they compared the two. Especially the combat. It may be Sot's weakest aspect, but so it is for the new PoP as well.
And although I do like PoP's artistic design, I still prefer the look of SoT.
i fucking love the sands of time and i was like 11 when i played it so it was hard for its time and a great refreshing game now 5 years later its nice too see games with actual challenge unlike shit today where your hands are held throughout the entire game
yeah right, at the moment the story has just begun, this guy must have seen the other 2 and put them against the new one, the first game in the new story is awesome, i loved it, i completed it but i keep playing it.
well i heard AC2 is out later in 2009 and prince of persia 2 is already half way finished, they only need a good release date and the sales sound good for that.
Judging by the ending the new prince will be getting just as dark as the old last prince...Oh and the one on one combat system in the new one is way more repetitive then sands of time...I often times found myself sighing regretfully when I had to fight in that game after the first 5 encounters.
Actually you couldn't die in the first trilogy either. You really can't die in any game I know of... Oh! you can in Crackdown;)

As for the two games, I'm still playing the new PoP and I have to admit that the old one is WAY better. I would have given the combat to the old Prince too coz it didn't get as repeating as it does in the new one.
i loved the combat in the new game but it totally bugged me that you cannot finish any combos since once you back the opopnent to a wall or edge you have to do a struggle sequence...
But i think the most fun part of the was the storytelling, how you can just press a button and talk to elika inbetween acrobatics and fights and learn more about her and the prince, made me want to progress the game just so i can hear more
I totally agree with this, they were fair in how they judged it. On the things they judged the Sands of Time is the obvious winner. The new Prince has its features but the Sands of Time does absolutely slay it.
The new Prince of Persia's incredible. yes it's easy but it's meant to be a casual and relaxing game where you can just enjoy the visuals and animations. just because it's easy and different don't write it off morons. It's a work of art, it's not meant to be a challenge.

They're not comparing how pretty the game is. They're comparing what the visual style is doing for the story, and at that point the new PoP wins because the cell-shaded style works better for such fairytale-like story than the realistic style. Of course SoT looks outdated when comparing it to the new PoP, but that wasn't the point.

for anyone who owns the game... are the acrobatics like cut scenes. ex. you click jump and guide your guy like in assassins creed, or is it more hands on like mirrors edge.
this game is waay better than assassins creed. in assassins creed if you had to climb a wall you just pressed two buttons and altair just climbed but in this one you have to press atleast 3 buttons to run on a wall, clib a wall or jump big gaps. (one at a time. you dont press all three together =)and the fighting mechanics are pretty good too. its up to your skill how long combo you can do and there are tuns combo animations =) this game is totly worth buying

I beat all POP games its gameplay and exciting platforms and difficult puzzles has remained my fav game of all time for me. But the new POP disapponited me it seems more about the visual concept of it rather than the combat. I dont want to press buttons popped up on the screen to evade i want to be able to think that for my self. Its the same thing as dieing -- instead of me having to get the game inturpted with a "game over" menu, I see elika "save me" (aka, bring me back to the check point) much like a menu screen for when you die. Instead of me pressing "start from checkpoint" - elika does it for me..
Its HARDLY a complaint, only elitist "hardcore" gamers will find it to be a problem.
Well, It's not like it's something that'll ruin the game in itself, however... there's just something about leaping from a high up ledge and smashing into the floor.

i loved the combat in the new game but it totally bugged me that you cannot finish any combos since once you back the opopnent to a wall or edge you have to do a struggle sequence...
But i think the most fun part of the was the storytelling, how you can just press a button and talk to elika inbetween acrobatics and fights and learn more about her and the prince, made me want to progress the game just so i can hear more

I totally agree with this, they were fair in how they judged it. On the things they judged the Sands of Time is the obvious winner. The new Prince has its features but the Sands of Time does absolutely slay it.

The new Prince of Persia's incredible. yes it's easy but it's meant to be a casual and relaxing game where you can just enjoy the visuals and animations. just because it's easy and different don't write it off morons. It's a work of art, it's not meant to be a challenge.

LoL, so it should be film, omg, it is A GAME, A CHALLANGE... New PoP has only nice graphics... but it is an empty game. Moves are mega unrealistic. If prince in WW just had bigger moves than those in real life, this Prince is just some fantasy guy...
I wanted to play an epic story, with drama and stress and a bit of sweating...
But I got the game where you can't even die...
WTF!...

I hope so coz I really loved the Prince story, this is why I got so pissed playing the last one... Unfortunately I think I won't be able to play further POP's due to PC not being a high end these days, not even close :D...

It takes away the sense of urgency and accomplishment which made SoT platforming so great.
Pop4 is great, don't get me wrong, but SoT is much better imo.

It isn't really fair.
Sands of Time is 5 years old.
Obviously the visuals will be dated and not as pretty.

They're not comparing how pretty the game is. They're comparing what the visual style is doing for the story, and at that point the new PoP wins because the cell-shaded style works better for such fairytale-like story than the realistic style. Of course SoT looks outdated when comparing it to the new PoP, but that wasn't the point.

So far from what I've seen this new one looks like a big disappointment,that was before i found out you CANT DIE.Sure its nice to not keep dying,but seriously there goes any and all challenge!The acrobatics look corny with you flying i mean what the hell?And the fact the old PoP lost combat means nothing since it was made 5 years ago,its going to get EXTREMELY boring only fighting one guy at a time,cooler combos in the old one with multiple enemies.I hope Im wrong about this game,but i doubt it.

well, sands of time in my opinion is one of the best POP games. but it is totally up to the players opinion on whether they think which one is better. sands of time has much more realistic look to it and a bigger puzzle aspect to it. POP it more combat based. personally i really liked the whole control time aspect. if you like combat go POP, if you like puzzles, definitly go sands of time. it's up to you guys! don't let videos choose for you! :D

for anyone who owns the game... are the acrobatics like cut scenes. ex. you click jump and guide your guy like in assassins creed, or is it more hands on like mirrors edge.

this game is waay better than assassins creed. in assassins creed if you had to climb a wall you just pressed two buttons and altair just climbed but in this one you have to press atleast 3 buttons to run on a wall, clib a wall or jump big gaps. (one at a time. you dont press all three together =)and the fighting mechanics are pretty good too. its up to your skill how long combo you can do and there are tuns combo animations =) this game is totly worth buying

I beat all POP games its gameplay and exciting platforms and difficult puzzles has remained my fav game of all time for me. But the new POP disapponited me it seems more about the visual concept of it rather than the combat. I dont want to press buttons popped up on the screen to evade i want to be able to think that for my self. What happened to uprgading the princes powers. 1 sword through out the game no powers? besides the girl? Bs... much i wanted to control the time space contunim SOT FTW

i find this stupid. combat is way more importnat than story. he may think sot may have better platforming but it looks jerky to me. i like it to look fluid and for you not to jump and die, jump jump die, jump jump jump die. seems boring. and stroyline is importnat but not all that amazing. and the graphics in the new one are just WAY better. id say there quite equal, but i think the new one rules!

so you havent played SOT? you probably shouldnt make assumptions. i think sot is better in every way except for the graphics, but thats the risk of alienating the old fans that ubisoft took when they decided to change it up.

I agree with this video completely. But I do think that it is a little unfair. How can you compare the graphics of an older game to a newer one. That's not fair. Still, I loved and still love the first POP game for its storyline.

You can't compare these two games. Sands of Time is what made this game franchise evolve from Sands of Time to Prince of Persia. Sands of Time a long time ago,you can't compare Prince of Persia because the game is just a child which was born from this SOT

Sands of time is just much better than the new PoP and the only thing in my opinion that keeps the new Pop over SoT is the combat. I prefer the graphics of SoT BUT NOT TO SAY cEL-SHADING IS BAD BUT sOt HAS HELD UP REALLY WELL OVER THE YEARS.

I have to disagree -- I think the new Prince of Persia is better than any of the games from the last trilogy.
and also I still think the "you cant die" argument is stupid, considering YOU DO DIE, it just shows a different animation instead of saying "game over, you suck"

Its the same thing as dieing -- instead of me having to get the game inturpted with a "game over" menu, I see elika "save me" (aka, bring me back to the check point) much like a menu screen for when you die. Instead of me pressing "start from checkpoint" - elika does it for me..
Its HARDLY a complaint, only elitist "hardcore" gamers will find it to be a problem.
