We all know the Koran is 100% reliable but clearly the Hadith isn't I don't reject Hadith I just reject Hadith that contradict the Koran, Hadiths are not revelation it was compiled 200 years after the Prophet(AS) died, not all hadith is reliable, those hadiths on black dogs seems like mere superstition a lot of old pre-islamic proverbs were snucked in but I'm no scholar but a lot of the fabricated hadiths are obviously irrational and covered in superstition.
I don't pick and choose I do my research on finding out which is authentic and which is fabricated or weak and I get that info from a reliable source I hope I don't offend, I'm just saying if you don't like dogs that's fine it's just that if I want a dog I have my support, but let's agree to disagree I mean I rather make friends than enemies.
Well abtin that's the point I'm trying to make you say 'it's our culture' why are you mixing culture with faith? Please be rational, as long as the dog is treated well and stays away from the area where you pray it should be okay, and why would an angel be afraid of one of God's creation? The authenticity of that hadith is highly doubtful in the koran it doesn't say anything bad about dogs, in fact they're shown in positive way, a dog slept along side the sleepers in the cave in Surah Al-Kahf.
This is our culture, I never said anything about faith :) You think dogs are clean animals to have in your house, fine by me. But Im telling you, They do things man, I don't want to tell you what out curtesy but they do things in your house. My Swedish friends all have dogs and it makes me very uncomfortable when I meet up with them you know. Animals shouldn't be locked up in your home in the first place I guess. Yeah
Well I wouldn't have him in the house neither I'll never lock the dog in the house that's infringing on his freedom, I also believe that animals shouldn't be locked up in the home, I'm just saying it's okay to have a dog just treat him well and give everything he needs and nothing more, I'm totally against pampering! Some people go too far, there's a limit to everything, because too much of anything is bad.
These Hadith tell the story of Muhamad's order to kill dogs.Muhmd said he would like to have all dogs killed. He wanted them killed, NOT because packs of dogs were tormenting the citizens of Medina, but rather, because a puppy stopped the mighty angel Gabriel.Muhammads solution was to kill the dogs.He first said he wanted all dogs killed but then made exceptions for dogs that are used for farming, hunting,or watching(outside).Further,he ordered that all black dogs be killed and called them "Satan"
An-Najm: 23. saying that hadeeth is the word of man is not correct because hadeeth is also a revelation. how would one explain hadeeth Qudsi, which is hadeeths where the Prophet narrates.
You do not accept any of the hadiths, or some you do and some you don't?
How could Allah allow the hadiths to be corrupted? Supposedly it is by the holiest scholars..right?
The Prophet Muhammed(PBUH) didn't hate dogs these 'anti-dog' hadith are either fabricated or weak and they are contradicted by hadiths that are favorable towards dogs such as the Prophet(PBUH) praying while a dog was playing nearby or saying that some of the Prophet's companions' kids had puppies, in the koran the sleepers in the cave were accompanied by dog sleeping beside them, read Abu El Fadl's article on dogs to prove that the Prophet(PBUH) wasn't against dogs but some of his friends were!
From Bukhari Vol. 4, #540 Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Allah's Apostle ordered that the dogs should be killed.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 551 Narrated byAbdullah Ibn Mughaffal
"The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered killing of the dogs"
"Maimuna reported that one morning Allahs Messenger was silent with grief. .. do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture. Then on that very morning he commanded the killing of the dogs"
Im sorry Abby but theres a big difference. I dont have control over my workplace, but I can decide over my home. I work in Sweden and the peoples culture here is the opposite, it is rare to not have a dog. I'm also allergic :)
Actually, if you look at the above hadith, you will see that you are not permitted to enter a house with a dog. So do you not adhere to the Muslim laws?
No. What "muslim" laws?. But then again, the hadith you wrote, it could just aswell be a certain case. You dont create islamic law out of a line in a hadith :) It has to be debated and interpreted and its background understood and so on.

theburro,
So in other words, you are deciding which Hadiths to accept and which not to. Do I have it right?

burro,
What does it mean authentic hadith? How can you decide which are "authentic"
Isn't it hypocritical to take some and not all?

Maggie, the dog, is sooo cute. But if you people are Muslim, you must know that Mohammed hated dogs.
Good for you guys for not following Mohammed and taking care of this bundle of love and joy, Maggie.
She has a beautiful coat of fur. You guys seem to be taking very good care of Maggie..good for you! :0))
