This shows how great the Jackson 5 were. One of the greatest groups of ALL TIME! and furthermore shows how amazing Michael Jackson was, vocally, Michael is one of few people I've ever seen sing through their puberty. You know how hard that is to do as a singer!? Your voice goes these weird changes, you don't sound good, and you basically have 2 re-train and strengthen your voice. It's extremely difficult. But MJ did it with such mastery. AMAZING!
things were so exiting back then...you cannot recreate whats already been done...these people like mj were the first...they were the pioneers and now everyone is mooching off of their example.
@Janoahable yea creativity flew out the window today most artists sample the HECK out of old songs like a new song by j cole sampled paula abdul and even used her chorus:
"straight up now tell me do you really wanan love me forever"

@evanronnie Not all of us I always knew he was innoceny the media did all that because they're jealous cunts and its very cruel people in this world,MJ didn't deserve any of the turmoil they put him through.
This was my very first concert! I must've been 6 or 7. I remember going to the "beauty shop" to get my hair done and getting 2 long fake ponytails....LOLOL Blacks STILL get flyyy 4 the concert! Love it!
Cant believe I just had to shed a tear while watching this GREAT PERFORMER. It took me back in time. This is when music was at its best, young performers please learn from the greatest performer to ever step on stage. To see the Jackson 5 perform is a blessing. RIP Michael, Thanks for sharing this video performance......
@200damary There's this guy called Prince. He sings. He writes. He dances (well, he used to - I'll give that one to MJ, who was still dancing at 50). He plays guitar as well as anyone. Not to mention 23 other instruments. In short, he's a musical freak/genius. Look him up.
@MarstaJNZ ...Goosebumps moment for real...My greatest childhood memory is when my mother surprised us and had my older cousin take us to a the Amphitheater here in Chicago...1971........
fluffypillow, how do you know this? 2017?!!! What are they thinking??? And who is "they" anyway? Sony, or the family, or someone else? There's SO much material out there that so many of us would love to have; I don't understand why "they" aren't anxious to sell it.
we will never see anything like them again in our lifetime. the shame is we could have had more but we spent the last 20 years robbing him of his money and knocking him of the throne. Micheal and his brothers are living in a world above most human beings. we did not deserve michael so god took him from us so we would appreciate and realize when god is trying to give us a gift. I pray for all of the haters out there. shame and all of you and shame on us for allowing it
I love the live stuff from these guys, they are so talented im sorry i never got the chance to meet them but I love them all just the same. I try to even out my love for all of the brothers because they all do their thing.
Simply the BEST! The best group ever & the greatest entertainer of all time came from one family. That is some serious talent. Michael worked the fool out of that stage & song his heart out all at the same time. Then Marlon, Jackie, Jermain & Tito were all doing their thing as well. It is such a shame that the music industry has decided to go with image instead of talent because today's singers are seriously lacking. After being exposed to the talent of MJ, I don't even want to hear the rest.

man am I a MJ fan or what back agian. can never get tired. looking all over. funnier than just the sound to watch a video so :) saw him live 1997 sweden, it broke my heart I couldn't believe it wuz real. felt so unreal to see him so close and all along I felt the good all around me even thought I wuz a kid at that age. I cant remember the best moment of my life :) makes me sad if I can't ever see him agian, so I'll have to go with the facts people dont blame me. he's alive
@klik21mj Awww....you make me feel so good ! Never saw him as an adult onstage, but I did see him in '71 !....voice was a little more the classic " little Michael Jackson " voice. I was 9, will never forget it !
@orbitmoon100 Their first concert at Madison Square. I noticed he was only tall enough to look Jackie straight in the stomach. Marlon danced his shoes off. Jackie showed us the "Funky Chicken".Tito showed us his blues skills and I remember Jermaine singing "....I's gots what you need ! "...I thought it was "... And find out what you mean" in the song "Mama's Pearl". Mike sang to the audience;he kept smiling and was really giving to his fans with every lyric. It was THE CLASSIC Jackson 5 days.
@orbitmoon100Thanks,by the way.Last night I was regretting chances I had to try and meet him (I had in recent years developed the knack for quietly meeting and talking with my favourite entertainers).Had always dreamed I'd one day meet and rap with my greatest. But you reminded me I got a lot more than many. I even know a couple folks who met him.I made sure to meet Usain Bolt when MJ passed. He trains at the place I workout.Always saw him and left him alone, but lotsa folks would want to meet him.
@orbitmoon100 The SUPER-DUPER hype about MJ hadn't built up yet. It was more a time of devoted fanship. So I watched with utmost interest. Only when my sisters and cousins screamed ( I was the only guy in my group) at the beginning of their favourite songs, did I get caught up and scream out too.At 9 I still felt embarrassed,as I thought I sounded like a girl when it happened. Some hippies kept turning around and laughed every time we made noise...to them in those days it was just a nice concert.
@klik21mj well, as far a s songs go, u nor i will be getting any unreleased songs until 2017...fuckin sony contract.....some rights they had 2 deal with lol oh well...lol
As musicians you wonder why a master like Berry did not use them in the studio more not just for J5 recordings but for others. Back in the Detroit days he used this to great advantage.
@etyvnio Jermaine on the bass wasn't no joke. But as far as playing any type of guitar or bass he can't mess with Tito. But I agree with you on the greatest teen boy band ever though.
Simply amazing. I'd bet this was the last of several performances that same day. They were wearing the same outfits on teh Dick Clark show in another video performance. Plus, back then Black performers worked themselves into the ground with several performances per day, on the road more than half the year, touring on a bus with no proper sleep or meals & Joseph pushing them to "come on". It is amazing he has a voice & can dance at all. They must be exhausted...& they were just babies. AMAZING.
It's stuff like this that makes me wanna live in the 70's. Look at what 12 year old girls like me had to listen to. And now look at what I have to listen to, Beyonce, RIhanna, Nicki Minaj? Eww. These videos only remind me of how things are so lame now. Music, economy, the whole world. LAME
@freein2339 His voice was not light at all. It was beginning to get very masculine in tone. There is no feminity at all. This is a completely ddifferent guy. What happened?
@Spiritree41 i agree....his voice sounds manly here...how the hell did it get all soft only a couple of years later?? also agree that is a completely different guy (literally and figuratively)...he seems way confident and masculine. maybe the guy with the girly voice and mannerisms was brought in later to keep the little boyish thing going?
@Spiritree41 we lack knowledge of details, but we can probably agree that he's still alive somewhere. either aware of completely oblivious to all the mayhem that's ensued since.
@Spiritree41 we lack knowledge of details, but we can probably agree that he's still alive somewhere. either aware of completely oblivious to all the mayhem that's ensued since.
@Spiritree41 we lack knowledge of any details, but we can probably both agree that he's alive somewhere. either aware or oblivious to all of the mayhem that's insued since.
@honeyshirin He liked talking in a whisper I guess, but that was only his public voice, his private one was pretty deep (like when he talked at the 02 to announce 'this is it'). It doesn't bother me, I think we all make a conscious decision how we want to speak and act to a certain extent.
@honeyshirin no, cause if u watch all of their videos, they all talk like that, Janet and the rest of them, even the parents talk like that. I guess it just runs in the family.
It's a tribute to his musical genius that he recognized he didn't possess a prepubscent voice anymore and he ajusted his vocal pitch on the songs accordingly.
you can tell Michaels Voice was starting to change... i bet Joeseph beat him for that TO!! he is such a demon to beat his kids like that.... Michael did his best though and thats all that counts :) Great job MJ :) love ya ur like a father to me.... R.I.P
@Chores4ever i am so sorry but his father did it so they wouldn't be on the streets. so they could have a better life than he had. his father knew that as a black man you had a choice either you become somebody or you fail or even end up in jail. he say potential in his sons. so you shouldn't be calling him a demon. without joseph their would be no j5 or thriller or off the wall or anything of that sort. so watch what you say anout mj's dad
I honestly got goosebumps looking at this! This was YEARS before I was even born, and I'm an adult now and getting this reaction... This is a display of absolute talent pure and simple!
WoW! By this age, you can tell the high notes were getting to be a bit much lolol! but Michael was always on key and had the maturity to know how to change it to a lower note without missing a beat. I never heard him hit a bad note.
"Walk on" performance was "the bomb!" I wish I could get this on DVD. I remember seeing this in the movie theater in Hempstead, NY with my mother when it first came out in the 70's. I was 6 or 7 at the time.
MJ was always on point even as a kid with the synchronized choreography and the breaking off into his own quick step before the next verse started without a hitch. Greatest entertainer I'll ever see in my lifetime.
@Lannielst They just don't like black women. I guess that's their right, to devalue black women. They don't owe black women any particular loyalty just because they're black. They've been this way for thirty, thirty-five years, bless their hearts, and they're not going to change any time soon. I'm the biggest Tito stan but as a black woman I have no delusions that he'd ever be interested in me. Again, that's his right, if he likes Latinas or white women more than sistas, then he just does.
So if it's HIS right...and you have NO problem with it..Why the need to make a comment about someone and their personal choice.....They all have at leats a dating history with women of color and even black women....Marlon is married to one..jermaine was married to One...Jackie..the same...The other brothers(including Michael) have dated sistas in the past....This is and should be a NONE issue in 2010!
i like his raspy voice

It's stuff like this that makes me wanna live in the 70's. Look at what 12 year old girls like me had to listen to. And now look at what I have to listen to, Beyonce, RIhanna, Nicki Minaj? Eww. These videos only remind me of how things are so lame now. Music, economy, the whole world. LAME

He seemed more masculine. This is what she means...

@Spiritree41 It got "sampled".....

@honeyshirin Something to think about. I have been scratching my head trying to figure this one out....Where is the original Michael Jackson?

@Spiritree41 we lack knowledge of details, but we can probably agree that he's still alive somewhere. either aware of completely oblivious to all the mayhem that's ensued since.

@honeyshirin how does his voice sound manly??? hes 14!
sammmfrg 1 year ago
@honeyshirin He liked talking in a whisper I guess, but that was only his public voice, his private one was pretty deep (like when he talked at the 02 to announce 'this is it'). It doesn't bother me, I think we all make a conscious decision how we want to speak and act to a certain extent.
Jacob4710 1 year ago
@honeyshirin no, cause if u watch all of their videos, they all talk like that, Janet and the rest of them, even the parents talk like that. I guess it just runs in the family.

@Spiritree41 ...guess he'd been there and done that.................

Chores4ever 1 year ago 5

I'll always love him. :-)

All of those young black female fans screaming over them, and today, none of the brothers would touch a black woman with a ten-foot pole.
Oh, the irony.
mscaxe 1 year ago
Why not?
Lannielst 1 year ago
@Lannielst They just don't like black women. I guess that's their right, to devalue black women. They don't owe black women any particular loyalty just because they're black. They've been this way for thirty, thirty-five years, bless their hearts, and they're not going to change any time soon. I'm the biggest Tito stan but as a black woman I have no delusions that he'd ever be interested in me. Again, that's his right, if he likes Latinas or white women more than sistas, then he just does.
mscaxe 1 year ago
So if it's HIS right...and you have NO problem with it..Why the need to make a comment about someone and their personal choice.....They all have at leats a dating history with women of color and even black women....Marlon is married to one..jermaine was married to One...Jackie..the same...The other brothers(including Michael) have dated sistas in the past....This is and should be a NONE issue in 2010!
