It was a Shingleback skink / Tiliqua rugosa but big deal so what viper keeper made a very small boo boo loll great vid ! one of the very few private reptile zoos to be accredited in North America ! Great vid ! keep up the great work !
I've found Burmese to be about as laid back and easy going as they come, but they are voracious eaters with a vicious feeding response. If something that size mistakes part of you as food, you're in for BAD time. I can't imagine feeding that many of them in the same enclosure. LOL! Great stuff!
Man I want to go there so bad. Yup that's a nice little shingleback - would love to get one but they aren't exporting them from Australia. I found one that was available over here but didn't have $5,500... If you want to talk about a gecko with an attitude that would be a Tokay! Cool little reptile but nasty tempered!! Too bad the bearded dragons didn't do the arm wave along with the head bob.
this is a frilled lizard has a spiked flap of skin around its neck so when fighting ir threeatened it can lift that up and make it look like its bigger
Clyde Peeling's Reptilaand really is a world class facility. I grew up a few miles down Route 15 from Reptiland, and am visiting in a couple months. Anyone who wants an amazing tour, make sure to stop by! Great video!
Wow, that facility is awesome. I wish I had something of that caliber in Washington. There is a serpentarium in Monroe, WA run by Scott Peterson, aka "The ReptileMan,(he brought some of his snakes to my grade school back around 10 years ago). His old facility consisted of mainly 40 gallon breeders and the sliding glass stackable tanks you have, but he has moved since my last visit, so I don't know what his new facility is like.
Al, wouldn't the poison arrow frogs be a tasty treat for the eyelash viper? Or is he "programmed" through millions of years to think they are still toxic?
I've seen emerald tree boas and eyelash vipers in with these guys on a number of occasions (I'm a bit of a zoo dork), I don't think they're of particular interest to a handful of snake species.
Whowhoawhoawhoa...whoa..whoaaa...i didnt really get this part Al...so a bearded dragon suppose to have the same components in the saliva as those of a rattlesnake venom??? huh?? O_O did i misunderstand something? Btw im such a geek with monitors ^_^ first thing i said when i saw the water,was"...Salvator" lol
A lot of harmless colubrids are believed to be somewhat venomous, too. A lot of people don't know that garter snakes are venomous and can put you in the hospital (if you have an allergy anyway). Corn snakes, rat snakes, king snakes, and boomslangs are all colubrids.
Yeah, just got back from Reptiland yesterday. The dude who worked there told us it was a Shingleback Skink that they popped in the cage because it only did well, said he, "around people." Guess they haven't changed the label on the cage yet.
wow amaizing do you know all of does animal names and scientific names in your head or you get help like behind camaras. I realy think your smart but all does weird and long names amaizing.
and my family said I shouldn't take latin on college!... then again, they also think I should be an artist and enjoy my job at the local coffee shop...

Exhibits are very costly to change and they have to do it overnight before they open the next day.

Yes, they even have venom glands and ducts to the teeth. They have all sorts of toxins in their "saliva" including Crotamine.

Rat Snakes are know not to have any venom components in thier saliva. Garter Snakes actually have very toxic saliva, beyond a simple allergy.
