@systemaddictshock Although most would wear white to reflect heat however with darker colors, heat doesn't penetrate that deep. Black may be hot on surface but cool on the inside. White may be cool on surface but warm on the inside. Tan or tan-ish clothes is best of both worlds.
@systemaddictshock Good for you? Children don't notice those things. Explain why people that travels through desert wears dark colors. Hell, you can even google it. It's a known thing ever since human kind has lived or traveled through the desert.
@systemaddictshock Cool, avoiding the question. You obviously do not know how it is. I'm an archeologist and have been in Sahara desert for 3 months straight. No a/c, no heater, no nothing. I was just like you thinking white is the best. I tried tan, tried black, tried gray. I found tan to be the best. Feels the best, actually. Thanks for asking.
@QuicksilverdotFX You're not an archaeologist. If you were, then you would be able to spell your profession correctly and detail which area of study. However, I do agree that tan or "khaki" works the best in desert climate not a dark olive drab color like what these guys are wearing. The thing about the Sahara, its dry climate. if wind more than 3m/s is present, then it wouldn't matter as long as clothing is loose fitting and able to radiate heat. Now try stagnate air, guaranteed fish fry!
@systemaddictshock Yes, belittle me. Little did you know, I spelled archeologist correctly. Did you even cross reference? I think not. Your lack of wit in belittling is shockingly low. It's no wonder it is your trait - seeing how you avoid the question yet again. Khaki is lighter than tan. Are you mad? The colors in the video is suited for the climate. Did you even pay attention to the surroundings? God damn Arizonians.
@QuicksilverdotFX Here's the problem. You claim to be an Archaeologist with experience in the field. You referenced being in the Sahara Desert to establish credibility. However, you failed to present evidence. If I am going to correct somebody with research, I better damn well present my evidence. This is academics 101 and should be easy to you, yah grave robber (thats an ad hominem by me in case you forgot). I'll belittle you all day if you want.
@systemaddictshock This isn't a problem. The subject wasn't my profession. If it was the subject, I would of course give something. I was giving you REASON for being in Sahara desert. Stop trying to fix your inferiority complex.
@shkljg The most not. they can reach speed of a heavy storm, but the dangerous thing is just the stuff flying around that can hit you. the wind itself is harmless. the most dust devils aren`t that powerful, so there`s no reason to be afraid. I love them. greetings
Dude wow, must have approached sixty mph, which admittedly isn't catastrophic by any means...just pretty cool relative to what I normally perceive dust devils as being capable of.
i've seen several similarly sized dust devils while driving around the US southwest. they were always blowing through the scrub so i had no idea that they could lift tents. i have a little more respect for their power now.
The reason dust devils are created is because of whats called ta hermal. A huge area of warmer air that soon rises vary rapidly and If we could see the main plum of air it would resemble a nuclear bomb with a vortex ring, Somtimes the rising senter columb can start to turn and create a very strong dust devil
Dang that poor gal 10 seconds in gets smashed by it! Guess that'll be a tale to tell the kids, but still that's nature for you. It'll spot you and then thinks 'okay I am gonna have a bit of fun with this lot' LOL But still by the looks of things no one was seriously hurt, thankfully.
While it's true that real tornadoes over deserts are sometimes called dust devils, this was a true dust devil; these are not related to true tornadoes. However, this dust devil was pretty strong, nonetheless.
thumbs up if you are a fan of dust devils

@QuicksilverdotFX most evident that they wear layers of clothing to insulate them from the elements.

@systemaddictshock That is not what i asked. I asked about DARK colors not layers of clothing.

@QuicksilverdotFX you go out into the desert...about 115F or 46C with dark colors. Let me know how it feels.

@greeleykid but can a 4 year old can lift and throw a tent 60 feet through the air
xxcurnuxx 1 year ago
@xxcurnuxx i would love to see a 4 year old throw any tent 60 feet, wind resistance alone would prevent it from happening...maybe on the moon?

They're the same thing, only Dust Devils are based in dusty landscapes. Waterspouts are tornadoes above water.
