The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the most visited attraction in New York. Manhattan is pretty safe in the day time. As for night time pretty safe if not alone up until about 11pm, That is in midtown, can't comment about the rest. My opinion for what it's worth but then I am a bit more squeamish than most people.

You are very lucky to go to New york City during Christmas. I plan to go there one year for Christmas. I know people who travel there every December just to go shopping, and sometimes only stay there 1 day.

I live in North Carolina and the biggest city I've been to is Chicago so I don't know much about New York City but I know it can be dangerous just like any other major city in the US. Good luck to you on your venture and I hope you enjoy your time in the US! =)

I work on Broadway as a stage hand as i am persuing a job in the Communication Arts (TV/Movie Director/Producer, etc). I get paid very well and i live at the West Mont on the Upper West Side. There are MANY apartments in Manhattan for rent, and, because i LIVE here, i pay rent $2,300 every month. Very well priced for Upper West Side, right? no its one city. bronx, brooklyn, queens, staten island and manhattan are all "bouroughs" manhattan is the most popular and the one seen in the video, however in the makeup of NYC and population count, all five bouroughs are included. hope this helps?
