  • WoW:) I love Aikido and this video is great:D. Watching aikido is always fun::) Nice,.... the nicest martial art:D And congrats for the music it is awesome:D

  • Funny, but always the same Aikido bullshit as usual

  • Aikido is so fake. lulz. My Tango skill is so strong i could beat both of them in the real streeeet situation. zomg mma tango 4ever.

  • @tubetubetube Ah ah ah! you're right! I don't want offend who blindly believe in aikido, but according to me this is the only "street application" it have!

  • @ilovetocook48 :-))))))) lacht. danke

  • @jolulonu: Yes he would: Tears of Happiness.

  • great moves, great fun watching it.

  • What a disgrace to the martial art no wander people say it is fake ye are a shame to aikido

  • That's FUNNY!

  • Quite fun and enjoyable. It was done with a smile. Thank you.

  • If O'Sensei was alive, I am sure he had been crying...!!!

  • I love that video. Nice to see that some people in martial arts have a sense of humor.

I'd love to dance with the guy in black ) Or to train with him. )))))

  • always welcome! thanks, giuseppe

  • @ponomareva bellissimo!!!

  • freak

  • That was awesome. lol

I love Aikido. At an Aikido party, I met and danced with a guy who trains ballroom dancing. He recommended I learn dancing because the dancer is aware of muscles that one otherwise would never think to use.

  • finaly they have accepted the fact that aikido is dancing and not fighting..

    total fruits...

  • it is very sad to see people, in century 21, excluding the possibilities of the body of the human being. Aikido is a art-martial one, however as any other type of fight, is possible to transfer to the dance, therefore the two deal with the movement of the body. If we saw a kata of karatê and play a music,i have sure that we will see a dance and not a fight...

  • It's not fighting

    it's self defense

  • verrryyy bad...

  • It's very sad to see this. Aikido it's not a dance, it's an art martial. Make a choice men dance or aikido

  • If your rubbish at fighting like me Aikido is a good way of dodging the other person, because I always assume they are better than me at fighting.

  • what the hell is this??breakdance?salsa?cose is not aikido.

  • too gay

  • lol funny

  • What a novel way to practice free flow. Showed a sense of humor as well. When your aikido flows well it should feel like a dance.

  • i´m Argentinian and i practice aikido, even i find this a little wierd XD... fun fact: originally Tango was dance only by men... until they realiced that was much sexier to do it with women xD!!!

  • What a shit. Im practising aikido and it doesnt look like that stupid dance. I give them 2 minutes on the streat. Aikido is a martial art not a dance -_- understand it and start to train seriously

  • People have been equating aikido to dancing for some time and some practitioners, that are presumably more experienced than you, decided to come out of the closet at last. Stop being in denial and realize that there is no martial in aikido any more, if there ever was.

  • Yes, there is martial art in aikido but people like you try to told people that it is dance or something like that. I dont know how you train but my aikido looks like martial art

  • Sorry but my aikido dont look like dance. I know that there are many tehniqes that doesnt work at the streat but they are very often train our timeing and strenght of our hips and body. I've used some of aikido techniqes on the streat and I know that it can be dangerous

  • Your aikido do look like dance, especially the demonstrations that are supposed to demonstrate its effectiveness. A martial art is not so much about techniques as it is about training methods and aikido has freagin' lousy training, against compliant opponents. There are so many aikido practitioners, yet there is no proof of it working against someone resisting. Nothing, but compliant demonstrations and anecdotes of streEt effectiveness. People like me say put up or SHUT UP.

  • When I read your reply there are two ideas inmy head- You are information scientist and you are learning aikido from the internet or you exercised aikikai-the wors aikido system that i saw. Every aikido system is better and more deadly than that old and unusefull system

  • Actually, yes, the style of aikido I have been exposed to was aikikai and I have only heard accounts of other styles from friends or through videos.

I have heard good things about shodokan/tomiki aikido since they spar, even if in a bizzare aikidoish way and yoshinkan, mainly for its harsh training that usually involves a good amount of conditioning and resistance.

Still, you are using an excuse and a pretty lame at that, blaming the very origin, in order to avoid providing actual evidence.

  • Dance and especially tango takes VERY serious training too my dear... just in case you didn't know!

  • a fucking sely jok...

  • lol genial

  • Amen

  • Great!

If one doesn't feel rhythm, he cant understand Aikido.

After years of Kyokushin (full-contact kick-boxing) I really find difficult to let my body become more "fluid". This method might help. I will propose it to my own Aikido teacher.

But I do believe, though, an old traditional Japanese teacher would have a heart attack seeing this.=)

B-t-w, dont mind people over criticizing: Theyre most probably single minded teenagers.

PS: Im not sure if that was tango =)

  • Philoposos.

    Kyokushin is full-contact Karate.

    The strongest Karate.

As far as I know it's not grouped under kick-boxing.

  • LOL Great job!

  • BULLSHIT ,

  • As Don Draeger says "modern aikido is a much weakened interpretation of Daito Ryu Aiki Ju Jutsu."

  • This is Art. But not martial.

  • I dare you to say that to Steven Seagul

  • By Steven Seagul you mean the douchebag that was mistreating his stuntmen and ended up getting chocked unconcious(which, some say, led to him shitting his pants) by the judoka Gene Lebell?

  • I bet he means him. ;)

  • Perfect.I dont know this style. But congrats.

  • hi - as mentioned a long time ago, this is no particular style - just an impro on tango music. glad you like it, you got some amazing stuff on your page, too!

  • Aahaha... this is really ZEN!

  • DISGUSTOSO!!!!

  • che cosa c'è che non va?

  • JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAjAJAJAJAJAJAJA.

  • I understand you pointo of view, bakathirteen, but isn`t it for this situations you described what irimitenkan and atemi are made for? Anyway, this should be my last post about this video. Just for the record, although I don`t agree with this point of view, I respect Ross`s Sensei intentions.

    Best regards

  • cool demonstration.

  • I really hope this isn`t a regular class, just a joke of doubtful taste... With all the respect Sensei, I didn`t like it at all...

  • You know, you'd be surprised how effective a combination of dance and martial arts works. Use the dance techniques for dodging and weaves in case an opponent gets too close, and use the martial arts to whoop your opponent.

  • That's so funny. But sensei used Sankyo very good.

Some is used so much by sensei in this video, especial Kokyu series.

haha, I think may be i will coppy this and send it to my friends. Both Sensei anh this video are very, very good.

  • que perroooo!!!! jajajaja

  • Very cool.........what a classic!

    funny stuff

  • oh shit!

that's fake don't practise it guys! Let's du Jujitsu.. it0s much better!!

  • true. the vid just shows how retarded school is. LMAO

  • And ur comment does the same favor for u. Have you ever practiced in that dojo? I bet not, I have and they do great aikido there.

  • i look at any art that calls itself martial from the point of fighting. And as for real fighting dancing is absolutely useless.

  • aikido is a mistake man if u want to learn to fight.

    watch?v=FGMT9pUYsFs&feature=channel_page

that is what a real knife attack looks like - you think u can stop it with your aikido skills?

  • Ok you stupids...he´s teaching and NOT fighting...aikido is surviving technique and NOT a fight to front MMA or jiujitsu bullshit in the ring or octagon...wake up....

  • Yep, he's teaching how to punish you girl if she steps on your foot, while you dance tango

  • This is probably the most efficient use of Aikido.

  • this is great video. i like it

  • great stuff !!!

  • Shall we dance?

  • that leads to sex in a hotel, be careful.

  • Every once in a while even Great warriors take a day off! Just enjoy their work and forget about fighting for one day man.

    Just enjoy their masterpeace...

  • very nice!!!.

    regards from canary islands!!

  • hahahahahah, thats my uncle=D

  • I've seen in youtube an aikido master with one hand in a real fight with a karate fighter. They were equal, believe me! It was not a demonstration...Aikido I believe is good, but there is a problem: in a real fight the enemy will not dance around you like during the demonstrations neither will fall down so easy. You gotta be really good in it to apply it outside...

  • excellent tension of the two! not much force, and also not lax. great aikido!

  • very nice :D

  • very good armony...

  • Then again, any martial art is effective against the common man that decides to attack. The difficulty comes when two martial artists fight. Common man have no chance against aikido, capoera, kick boxing, box, karate, whatever.

  • Remember that what u see here in youtube about aikido are mostly demonstrations between aikidokas. If it didn't look like that there could be broken wrists, elbows and sholders everywhere. I too think aikido has a lot of fancy moves but when u cut to the basics it is really useful like any other martial arts. If u are a martial artist and u try fancy moves in a fight u probably will lose the fight. Stay with the basics and u will be OK.

  • Ray Charles once said," Music is so big, there's room in it for everyone." Surely this is true for martial arts too. This is very elegant, controlled and fluid; I find it fascinating to watch and extremely funny because everyone there shares the joke. What a pleasure to see something truly different.

  • These guys flow like water, no? Especially the guy in black.

I personally doubt that aikido would be effective in a real fight. It's too placid and peaceful. Also, you have to unlearn the very instinctive movements that we as humans have evolved to act on, such as kicking and punching. That's why it takes so long to learn this style. But it is beautiful to see!!!Poetry in motion.

  • Who said kicking and punching is not Aikido? Maybe kicking is not very much used, but punches yes.

  • Hmmm, yes I have a friend who 'punches in aikido. Not very effectively I might add. Because they dont specialise in that field. Sorry to say. Im aware of hombu and iwamaru styles.

  • A punch in Aikido is not supposed to knock you out, that wouldn't be what an Atemi is for.

  • NO, of course. Look I thnk Aikido is beautiful to watch, but I dont think (other than master instructors) that its effective to the average person. It doesnt flow naturally with regards to learning it unlike other styles. It officially takes up to 20 years apparently to know how to react mechanically. WHereas if you took up karate or kick boxing, you'd be pretty good in under 2 years. Big difference

  • you don't learn to punch in aikido. You learn how to defend against punches, no Aikidoka would use a punch as a defense.

  • There are strikes in aikido...they are called atemi...closed fist or open hand...it is used to get the uke out of balance OR to strike a deadly blow...

  • Unfortunately most aikido people don't train in proper striking and so the art is largely misunderstood. O Sensei said aikido is done with atemi, Saito said the same thing, Nishio says to do all techniques with the feeling of atemi. What we're seeing here is some nice flowing exercise, and there's some benefit to that. For example: speed bag doesn't make you a great boxer, but it's an essential part of the training. Take this kind of demonstration for what it's worth. No more - no less.

  • I agree with what was said about that atemi being both common and effective, but that aside.... how DO you learn to punch?

  • this ain't takemusu aiki, that's why it's too placid and peaceful and it wouldn't work in a real fight. but those aikidoka wouldn't really move like that in a real fight anyway. takemusu aiki however is meant for real fights

  • Are there any vids on youtube on this style?

    Can you email me please.

  • not that i know of, but try searching "takemusu aiki"

  • Dancing with the Akido Stars. Very effective for when you are attacked at a ballroom.

  • while practising karate you would have to use techno or gangster rap....so i'll stick with aikido :)

  • Its only gay if you make eye contact.

    Oh wait...

  • Hahahaha a friend of mine who does MMA says that all the time.

  • i was searching for real aikido fight looool i dont care

  • What a great idea!

Actually tango mechanics are very similar to martial arts. In my oppinion, (Judo+Aikido+Karate)/3 + music = tango. The point is about "center".

  • I agree - it is about the "center" and it can fit nicely with music. But, we must be careful about making Aikido into dance only. I've been to some dojo in California where they do "flow and glow" Aikido to music. I must say that Aikido is also built on rythmn and tempo/beat just like music. But all good martial arts must have that element.

  • I forgot to mention Tango is Argentine Tango, not ballroom tango which is not natural. Argentine Tango is probably the most difficult dancing and it can be improvisable, but choreographed ballroom dancing on TV can not.

I am from Tokyo and I did practice Judo, Karate(Uechiryu) and Kendo when I was a kid.

  • Thanks. I am familiar with Argentine Tango. I'm not a big fan of Ballroom dance. It requires skill, but their Latin dances don't look like anything a Latin would really do and their Jitterbug doesn't look like real Jitterbug. Also, I look like crap in see-through shirts!

  • 1. Like Aikido, tango has a lot of circular motions but no knockout like martial arts. It is a tool of seduction. Since tango consists of natural circular motions, you can find 70-years-old professionals like Aikido does. As you get older, you could continue to improve your skills. Ballroom dancing has retirement, because it is a competition defined by British to pursue their own ideal styles.

  • 2. Tango is the only music which is based on two beats although most of music are three or four beats and above. This is why most of music can be danced in Tango style. Human being is the only mammal which walks in two feet. This could indicate that tango can be related to fundamental human instincts.

  • The only thing "tango" in this film is the music. What I see is Aikido. It doesn't have to be fast. Nage has the responsibility of matching uke's speed, which he is doing here. The fluidity they both display is outstanding. My sensei had us do this kind of practice of flowing freeform through a series of techniques, without losing contact and without the music.

  • working on gayship !...

  • Great minds!;) Bravo!

  • Hahahaah that was great

  • omg ... aikido would kick this ''TANGO'' ass ... waht will he do if someone turn the sound off ? XD

btw:how can someone figh vs aikido dance O_o stupid !

  • shut up and admire

  • all its doing is showing how Aikido and "The Tango" (which is a dance for you uneducated people) can be thrown together. Its not so much a dance vrs martial arts vid, more of a combination of the two

  • hahahhaa ... I like it

  • kkajajaiaijaijaka

    nice aikido

  • definately the best aikikdo i ve ever seen

    great

  • hahahahahaahahahahahaahahahahalolololololololol so funny!

  • haha~~really funny thing I saw today

  • awsome :0

  • haha, awesome

  • if only i now how did this i will kill him using aikido, you ruined my aikidoka pride,grrrrrrrrrrrr....

  • giuseppeprofumo you should educate your self about this wonderful martial art, but what i see is a puor ignorant writting shit in this site, you idiottttt!!!!!!

  • wow, hurt your widdew feewings?

  • Aikido is a living art and every Aikidoka should keep this in knowledge, while finding out, which is his or her way.

Everyone, who thinks, that Aikido has to work in Streetfight, didn't really understand what "avoiding a fight" means. Streetfight is not interessting, as soon, as a 9mm Parabellum is your opponent.

This video shows exactly, what Aikido should be. It should be communication between two "loving" partners.

  • ¬¬ Shit shit shit!!! if O Sensei would be alive he would really be disappointed

  • One of O Sensei's main commands for training was "Aikido should always be practiced in a joyful loving manner" or something to that extent, and I think these men are doing just that.

  • don't make me laugh... or cry. O Sensei developed his Way, and his Way is a Way of the Warrior, a BUDO, and even if Aikido could seem like a dance, it's NOT!!It's a fucking self defense martial art with great spiritual concepts. I can say that again...that's NOT what AIkido is meant to be

  • I'm not the one who said Aikido should be practiced happily, O Sensei did, you can look it up yourself. When you think about O Sensei's character, how kind he was to everyone, it makes sense that he would say something like that.

  • my aikido insructor should see this he is allso a tango fanatic

  • I can´t wait for Aikisalsa!!!

  • This is very cool!

    Love it!

  • Why is there no real vids of Aikido vs Jiu Jitsu?

  • Gardel would like this.

    Aikido en 2X4.

    Kata: La Kun-par-zita.

  • esto NO es Aikido

    Aikido dewa arimasen

  • exelent demostration!!

I think the Aikido has something of tango

    great video!!

  • AIKITANGOOOOOOO

  • Something this weird can only be inspired by a Japanese martial artist. The man in black has no misgivings about going to "close embrace". Kind of a lot weird.

  • wow. I practice aikido and even I find this pathetic to the highest possibility. This makes people forget this is a MARTIAL art (military art) and not a fucking dance. by forgetting that, you're basically telling O'Sensei to fuck off.

  • Actually i think O-sensei would have a great laugh of joy if he saw this. :-)

    I love this vid.

  • lol. maybe. although the doshu did specifically state that "this shouldn't be taken as a dance or a health promoting exercise."

  • I think that any martial art can be used as a dance or health promoting exercise although if i wanted to dance i would do cappoeira and health thai chi/qiqong.

This video is just a demonstration but on the other hand im starting to think that maybe practising aikido with music might be a good way to better my kokyo-nage. Any oppinions about that?

  • ha! only if uke falls on his arse in a non choreographed manner and the tori's technique is ultimately effective.

The attitude in this video is too whimsically and by the looks of it, it was giving a demonstration to first time on-lookers. the thought of people judging Aikido as a joke or a gay dance is most disturbing.

  • I have no problem if pepole think that aikido is a joke or gay dance because i know its a real martial art.

If you dont wanna let aikido be viewed as a "gay dance" then how abaout hitori-waza? Dosent that look "gay" sometimes?

  • I understand but im tired how other pimply faced closed minded a-holes think they got the world in their hands by probably winning a few closely regulated ring match and having a bloated sense of self accomplishment by putting down others.

and by the way, by 'gay' i meant 'happy' lol. i have no idea wat hitori waza is but im assuming it has a homosexual connotation about it.

  • They are just afraid of not being good enough.

What style of aikido do you practise? Maybe hitori-waza dosent exist in all styles... however hitori-waza has nothing to do with homosexuality. In ki-aikido hitori-waza is something like "moving exercises" (hard to explain but it can look allitle corny).
