  • چرا دل ها ز دلبر بی نصیبه؟

که هر که عاشقه اینجا غریبه

خدا گوید دلان را دوست دارد

    دروغه این خدا کارش فریبه

  • tār (Azerbaijanian: Tar') is a long-necked, waisted Azerbaijanian instrument It has been adopted by other cultures and countries like Iran, Georgia, and other areas near the Caucasus region. FROM ENCYCLOPEDIABRITANICA the music instruments.

  • @e333314 Credit never comes with lying. Truth is dignity.

  • Are we really debating religion here? Listen to this beautiful instrument and shut up.

  • this is the music i grew up iin South Iran....great to hear so many years later

  • the origin of this, the origin of that...kids, if the only things you are proud of exist in the past.... and this is not because of something YOU do, but someotherpeople did...if the identity you have is a PART of the earth instead of being able to have a bigger view....my god. try to find out what you are doing NOW. let the past be past. instead being a backward kids!

  • Wow. Borat is the most amazing drummer. I had no idea.

  • Persian was a soo beautiful country .

  • The instrument has a really smooth tone and resonance

  • @jamil774

Azerbaijan has been a part of Iran too.... not even very long ago.... about 100 to 150 years ago.... read history my friend.... at least your own history!

  • @hadiuk Azerbaijan might have been part of iran, but TAR is still our instrument ... read history .... at least your own.

  • @hadiuk Part of Persian Imperia you would say.

  • @hadiuk tar+kamanca=GREAT AZERBAYCAN.

  • @jamil774 did you read history.. the azerbaijan region was always incorporated into the iranian world..only till turks came and took it in very unstable times of iran..

  • @jamil774 Both Tar and Kamanche are Persian/Iranian instruments. They originated from Iran. Even their names are Persian as you can tell, hopefully.

  • @jamil774 Don't talk too much. Don't see yourself something big and historic. Calm down. Listen and enjoy.

  • @jamil774 Rtard

  • @jamil774

    azerbajian belongs to iran

only sand niggers (turks) live there, they call themself azeri.

maybe you forgot that azerbajian was holy place for iranians in zoroastrian !

FUCKING IDIOT, GO BACK TO MONGOLIA YOU HAIRY APE

  • @Dividyneh Iran is a dictatorship run by someone who denies the holocaust! you have no ground for insulting others about intelligence and also just FYI...

if you live surrounded by sand and have skin that a white person would call dark than you are also under the category of sand nigger. Jalil Shahnaz is just as much of a sand nigger as any turk or azerbaijani

  • @henrimoon

the holocaust is fake because judaism, christianity and islam is a fucking arab religion with a big nose guy that no one have seen in real life, you call him "god" or something, haha!

also, i am white because i am iranian and iranians live in northern iran, do you know what that means stupid?

so i guess we are sand niggers because turks and arabs are apes?

stupid fucking sand nigger, GET OUT OF MIDDLE EAST, GO BACK TO AFRICA YOU MONKEY

  • @Dividyneh I am a white croatian! I am not in the middle east and do not want to go! you are not a sand nigger, you are a victim of vast propaganda campaigns and you are an ape with tan skin. not a sand nigger, just a little tan. I attended college and graduate school, do you know what that means stupid? I am agnostic, god is the biggest lie since ahmadinejads election! the holocaust did happen. germans systematically murdered millions of people for ethnic reasons. it has nothing to do woth god!

  • @henrimoon

we can both agree that judaism, christianity and islam is a big lie created by semitic people

  • @Dividyneh

yes, but all religion is a lie created by various people trying to explain what is around them. the question is, why did they keep believing the stupid shit that is written in their books after better explinations came out. probably because they are stupid and afraid of war!

  • @henrimoon

not all religion is wrong brother, you generalize good religions that only want peace like buddhism, hinduism, zoroastrianism and much more.

those religions have nothing in common with the arabic/jewish religions.

  • @Dividyneh

but hindus do have ethnic disputes with muslims which can become violent.

( although you have a point)

  • @Dividyneh

    Only from the US.

  • In the beginning of the 19th century Russia and Persia divided Azerbaijan along the Araz River. The North Azerbaijan came under Russian control, while Southern part went under the rule of Persia.

SO Iranian You Also Don't Forget That Where You Live Now It Was Azerbaijan

Your Culture Came From Azerbaijan You Have To Read History

  • @saheb555 Ja dumajo tbeja luchshe pro4etat isturio. ti tam govori po azerski i nekto tebej ne mishayet. a ti ne meshai drugim. ponel? Persian empira is an old culture and has an amazing civilization. what about Azerbaijan impire? If it was Azrnaijanb Empire why Russian could screw you man? togda idi esho y4etca.

  • @saheb555 It seems as if you are mentally retarded. If you read history, you will understand that the central Asian republics formerly under Soviet Union were occupied by Tsar of Russia during a war against PERSIAN EMPIRE, at that Time all those territories belonged to PERSIA, there has neve existed anything called AZARBAYEJAN Country, so if you know what books are, first choose a good history book and read. Falsifications of history can only satisfy your sense of inferiority, but cant den FACTS

  • @ hevalan.. don´t talk about things you don´t know about.. keep it to yourself

Iranians are the the pride of this world.. if you would do your homework instead of randomely talking shit.

EVEN IN WESTERN PHILOSOPHY AND HISTORY ACKNOWLEDGED ; IRANIANS ARE BRINGERS OF GUITAR.. SETAR. EVEN OPERA.

THEY ALREADY STOLE THE LEGEND ZARRYAB FROM US AND THE GUITAR

IRANIAN INSTRUMENTS FROM INDIA TO BALKAN WE INFLUENCED THE WORLD SO BEHOLD THE GLORY OF IRAN

  • @BEYADEHVATAN

The guitar is from Spain. The sitar is from India. Opera originated in Italy.

  • @SoIncrediblyHigh oke let me give yet another history lesson..guitar..from setar..sitar.

setar or sitar..from tambur or tanbur.. the world came west china to lberian peninsula came in contact with these beautifull sounds through islamic conquest of this great vast region..

andalucia is where flamenco or guitar was introduced.. even they know whom brought it to them. the legendary Zyriab.. one man..

dude if you keep on falsely portraiting the iranian history i will smack you

  • HAHAH THESE TURKS AND AZERIS ARE FUNNY PEOPLE.. EVERYTHING YOU EVER HAVE IN CULTURE OR LANGUAGE IS IRANIAN.. DON´T FORGET THAT.

TURKS LET ME GIVE YOU HISTORY LESSON... YOUR ANCESTORS WERE MONGOLIANS AND SHIT.. BARBARIANS AND WITHOUT CULTURE.. DO YOUR HOMEWORK, READ,

  • Amazing music and instrument! Whats the tuning of it and where is it possible to purchase one of good quality?

  • Even the word guitar is stolen from persian.. For all you Turkish people don't forget that before ataturk and 1930 you spoke an iranian language.. not long ago

so don't claim the saz nor the tar

  • Turk muzgine daha yakin Bati muziginden.Batili gavurlardan olmadigimiz asikar canim, bizim yerimiz Asya, avrupa falan deal.

  • Maestro Jalil Shahnaz is one of the greatest Tar players of all time! viva Mestro!

  • Tar is an Azeri instrument not persian, stop stealing our shit like the fucking Armenians..

  • Thanks.

I know of Zyriab, "The Blackbird" - read about him several years ago. He was amazing...years ahead of his time. I remember reading he even encouraged the Court ladies to cut their hair short, for comfort and ease.

Allat-Amazon Gnostic Rebel- waiting for the GOddess to balance Male Energy

  • Hello folks, this is not a place too settle the facts about tools and instruments. since there is no narrator to maintain honesty. So let it be from all over. Turks ,Arabs Persians all are my brothers and sisters. please resist those who trying to create rifts between US.

  • Tar. Is there a "gui" somewhre there? As in the added sound of the word, guitar.I'm a Latina- trying to trace the history of the guitar.

There is no opening in the body. And the neck is slimmer. How many strings does this have?

  • @EarthaKit2 They Say Tar is the mother of instruments. Also Tar is a Persian word meaning string as in (Sitar-Setar-Guitar). I don't know how true this is but someone once said the word GUI in GUITAR comes from GUITI in Persian which means "universe". So if that's true GUITAR would mean the string of the universe. Tar has six strings tuned c g c in pairs except the lowest string which is c but in a different octave,A Tar feels right when you hold it and was designed to fit your body perfectly

  • @EarthaKit2 Guitar evolved from Lute or Oud as we call it in middle east. Because of the middle eastern influence in Andalusia (Southern Spain). The most interesting thing is that Paco De Lucia (Greatest guitarist of all time imo) has a famous album called Zyryab which gives credit to a Persian musician who was exiled to Andalucia due to jealousy and introduced OUD to spain which later became the Spanish guitar.

  • OSTAAD SHAHNAZ IS A LEGEND IN PERSIAN MUSIC. ZENDE BAAD OSTAAD.

  • hahahhah........... iranian tar.? you have not any music culture, dont forget music is haram. =D

  • God bless all Iraninan ppl

  • it is called TAR and this name is not assabic or turkish :)) guiTAR

  • Beautiful Persian/Iranian instrument.

  • I'd love to spin around and around like a dervish when listening to this, except I fear I might get giddy and knock down the furniture. :)

  • i want one.

  • The word tar ( تار') itself means "string" in Persian. This is claimed to be the root of the names of the Persian setar and the guitar as well as less widespread instruments such as the dutar and the Indian sitar. The exact place of origin of the tar cannot be confirmed. However, the tar was invented in the territories of, or influenced by, the Persian Empire: Persia (Iran), Afghanistan, .from encyclopedia britanica.please dont argue it sound bad enjoy the persian tar .

  • tār (Persian: تار Azerbaijani: Tar') is a long-necked, waisted Persian instrument It has been adopted by other cultures and countries like Azerbaijan, Georgia, and other areas near the Caucasus region. The word tar ( تار') itself means "string" in Persian.FROM ENCYCLOPEDIABRITANICA the music instruments.

  • @sspersian

Azerbaijan has been a part of Iran too.... not even very long ago.... about 100 to 150 years ago.... read history my friend.... at least your own history!...; its like to says: John Lennon wasn't from England, he was from Liverpool....Azerbaijan was and still is a "tiny" part of Great Iran...

  • That was beautiful, regardless of Tar being Turkish or Iranian. Iranians, Turks and Arabs must remember that Middle East and Near East has been populated for 70 to 100 thousand years. These areas have been densely populated for the last 10 000 years before Semitic, Iranian or Turks moved in. Our ancestry belongs as much to these people as the languages we identify ourselves with.

  • the beautiful and mystical sound of tar is enjoyed by the world over and as such it belongs to the world all you narrow minded folks better get a grip on what matters

  • Listen to Persian Tar and the so called turk version and just by the soft pure persian sound you'll know it originated in Persia not to mention the fact that its name is Persian..turks have always prided themselves in being thieves...any claim here to this instrument being turkish is no deviation from this inherent trait!

  • @PayandeBaadIran dude shut up i hate people who insult turks, ok? if you dont like the comment then fucking ignore or it say that it isnt turkish but dont call us theives.

  • @micogobodo Well he is right. You have taken everything from persian culture look at your language %40 of turkish language are persian words. Mowlana is persian Ok he died in present turkey but all his poems are in Farsi dude so shut up and have some respect for Iranian culture if we take all the elements of iranian culture from your culture there is nothing left.Learn to have some gratitude. That is what makes humans different form wild animals.

  • @persiparsi I dont care about that history or whatever the hell you wrote there. And I wasn't disrespecting Iranian culture, retard. I was telling you people to stop disrespecting the Turks and being racist against us.

  • @micogobodo HEY retardo nobody is disrespecting turkish culture but it is clear that arabs and turks and also europeans for some reasons want to make iranian civilisation forgotten as it never existed by distortion of History, Geography, Music, ect.. but we have nobody to blame but ourselves...

  • @PayandeBaadIran : Its just pathetic talking without knowledge, u cant distort the reality by your short minded comments in a virtual forum, Saz as it is obvious from its name is a Turkish instrument, in Turkish saz literally means "instrument" and it implies musical instrument. If u had slight reading of the historical sources of the Irano-Turkic cultures of the region, which actually shapes the geography of our Iran, Caucasia, Anatolia, u'd find the origins of Tar/Saz/3tar is Azeri-Turkish

  • @dafod2010 really? what makes you think saz is a turkish word when in fact both tar/saz are iranian words & let me remind you of the fact (which Ataturk has hidden from all you fools) that almost half the turkish vocab is either iranian or taken as a whole from iranian-arabic combination without turks even knowing what they really means! so no IT IS not obvious from the "word saz" that the instrument is turkish, that's where your argument falls to pieces and i suggest you pack it up ;-)

  • @dafod2010 saz or tar is niethwe turkish nor iranian. it come from indian sub con.

while turkish music is years ahead of iranian music now, all middle easter music , arabic turkish kurdish and iranian are still pretty backward in world level. the korean , chinese and japan and indians are all in the world stage. why because like everything ,those culture are winners. you still fightt about imams and local premitve music and fighting and denying each other. it is in all fields..

  • @dafod2010 HISTORY LESSON FOR YOU; BEFORE 1930 ALMOST 80 PERCENT OF THE TURKISH LANGUAGE WAS IRANIAN..... WITH A TERRIBLE ACCENT GOLUM. AFTER 1930 ATATURK CHANGED THIS.

AND FOR THE AZERIS; HAVE A COKE AND A SMILE AND SHUT THE FUDGE UP

YOU HAVE NO PLACE IN HISTORY AND NO REAL CONTRIBUTION TO THIS WORLD

  • @BEYADEHVATAN : retarded, u are just talking bullshit it doesn't make any sense; Persians nowadays are dismissed from the world community because of their stupid actions but Turks (including Azeri-Turks) are quite respected in the world, everybody know that. I'd rather not waste my time with u and your nasty attitudes just stop posting comments to me. Go kill yourself, do me a favor and tie a bomb to your wicked body and blow up yourself, smelling shit

  • fuck off, everyone knows that the instrument in persian and just shot uppp

  • lol, since when?! :))

  • seriously, this instrument is Turkish, come on now. Azeris have them for eons

  • @nabecaydim

    azeris are Iranian

  • We Turks only hope that Azeris do not make anything bad to harm Iran, and they help Iran to advance. I know that Iran is a big culture and Azeris have always been a part of it. But again, they are Turks. The only difference between us and them is that, they are not sunni, we are not shia. We are brothers to the bone.

  • Thats why half your vocab is persian check an old turkish dictionary.even composition of lots of words which is has been copied without turks knowing what it means, small example "charshanbeh" plus 1000s more, iran has a big culture & yes Azaari have also been part of it but guess what they too are persian but turkified to their detriment during times savage turkish tribes roamed the area searching for humanity & civilisation which they found in persians & their music inclusind Taar!

  • you are right about the vocabulary and other stuff. but Azeri's are not persians. Theyy were Shia, and had to side with you against ottomans. They are Turks

  • J 33.33%

    R 27.27%

    G 15.15%

    Q 9.09%

    N 6.06%

These are the y haplogroup of Iranian Azerbaijanis, which is very similar to the rest of Iran. J is haplogroup of people who originated from this area. R Mainly Iranian with some other indo-European Haplogroup. G Iranian and Caucasian Haplogroup. Q and N Uralic, it is found in small amount in Turks as well.

  • this is turkish(azeri) music instrument fuck you idiot

  • A beautiful composition indeed.........is it a traditional musical instrument of Iran?

  • yes

  • drod bar amirnaser eftetah, ostad bihamta-e- tonbak iran.

  • in mard digar tekrar nemishavad

  • That sounds great!

  • Beautiful, reminds me of my uncle Tajvidi. God bless him.

  • when tar became armenian??:S

  • Go an type in wikipedia (if you know what that is)and check out where TAR is originated...

and then feel how ignorant you are...

  • such beautiful music.

  • very nice

  • this tar player is MASTER SHAHNAZ , the best in the world ! his tar even sounds the best in the world too .

this tract is from his younger days , 25 yrs ago !

very pretty , awesome , GOD bless iran !

  • Wow great! Moshalla!

  • Tar's origins come from Iran, but now it is not used only in Iran, but also in Armenia. Here it is an traditional folk instrument.

  • beautiful!. I'm wanting to learn Zarb/Thombac. Excuse me if my spelling is wrong. I'm still trying to find out what is the difference between the two.

  • There is no difference between Zarb and Tombak, these are just the two names used for the same instrument.

  • I was told one was larger than the other.

  • Well as far as I know there are different sizes that you get but it doesn't have anything to with name of it. Tombak is the artistic names of it and zarb is just the common name of it which means beat.

  • the larger zarb is known as zarb-e zoorkhaneh.

  • well done... Zarb-e zoorkhaneh! you idiot that's still a zarb.. you never read Hafez or Sa'di saying zarb-e zorrkhane. (by the instrument used in this sclip is called "tar-e youtube")

  • baba yekzare kam khodet ra neshan bedeh. ba zaban eshgh dehan ra vaz kon, pas een zahmate shahnaz baraye chist?

  • I think your Tar videos better than my Dutar clip

  • wonderful music by great master musician.

  • so CoooooooooooooooooooooL

  • i think thats cool.. i want one!

  • very nice

  • actually thats a pretty good observation...it does sound like a banjo doesnt it? Except deeper and more ancient

  • When I attempt to describe Tar to someone who is not familiar with persian music I say it sounds somewhat like a cross between a banjo and bouzouki.

  • it almost sounds similar to a sitar.

  • because the sitar was made after the tar seh= three so three tar hehe

  • Or you can say it is the long necked Persian Lute, and it sounds distinct.

  • That might be the first thing I'd say, but that wouldn't give someone with no exposure to persian music a very specific idea of what I'm talking about, would it? :)

  • I am sure if the person asking is interested enough, it would make it even much more pleasing to research, knowing that you have told them it is something they have never heard or seen. Rather than telling them that it sounds like instruments that it does not even sound like.

  • You are right Mr Testing, when I tell someone I play tar, they probably ought to leave that moment to do more research so I don't mislead them with my modest description.

Well, I feel we have covered enough social bickering for the topic, lets just enjoy the music.

  • It never hurts to be proper and politically correct. You never hear someone who wants to describe a flamenco guitar, compare the instrument to a Piano, but you are right, let's enjoy the music.

  • The sound definitely makes me think of Persia.

  • this proves that music relates, If any one of you have heard Bengali folk tunes(Indian) then you will find this piece very similar to that, moreover the end part have some similarity with Raga Durga of Indian classical music.

I guess Satyajit Ray(world famous Indian Film maker) would have loved this composition, as his compositions were also something similar to this.

    Bravo.

    RD

  • Uh Mr. Rohansitar, Iranian, I'm pretty sure Iranian music has been around a lot longer than Indian music. Plus part of Indian was in the Persian empire, we influnced your music, not the other way around.

  • I dont want to get involved into origin right discussion , just wanted to say that the music has some similarity with certain music that I as an individual came across, by saying this I never wanted to prove that what the musician plays here has been taken from India.whereas wanted to say that ultimately musical minds have similar frequencies , which gave rise to similar kind of compositions all over the world.

    ultimately the music that wins

I convey my respect to the artiste. regards

    Rohan

  • thats right, TAR is persian... no doubt...

  • NASIMNASIM,

Why do you write in English? Thats a Western influence? Why do you use a computer? Thats a Western influence. Why do you douche? Thats a Western influence? WHY ARE YOU ON THE FREAKING INTERNET? That is a Western influence?

And what about the guy with the turtleneck? Is that a turtle influence? Or "yaghe eski". Is that a skiing influence?

You are a good example of why some people dont believe in democracy. (I have to explain myself since the IQ level here is so low).

  • Democracy woudl give you the right to vote, & that would screw everything up.

  • I am saying is when playing traditional Persian instruments, you should be dressed in traditional Persian attire...

  • ITs called being chic. Do you also believe while LISTENING to traditional Persian instruments, you should be dressed in traditional Persian attire?

You should get a job with the Islamic Republic telling people how to dress.

Its Valentine's, time for me to feel the breeze of Sabaa and the zephyr, and get a caress.

  • Yes I do..., we sit on traditional Persian rugs, smoke tariak, drink traditional persian tea, listen to traditional Persian music, wear traditional Persian clothes..I love IRAN, I love my country, I am proud of it's FARHANG, Why should I try to copy western mcdonalds sick britney spears?

  • Smoking taryaak recreationaly is against the sharia! It is meant as a medicine. PADZahR.

Khob thats your problem right there: you are taryaakee!

    Britney needs some medicine too.

Please post a video, high quality, of you sitting on traditional Persian rugs, with tariyaak, and wearing traditional Persian clothes. Or being traditionaly naked. Do you sit on rugs because you dont have chairs? Is that a Western influence too? Man bAyasty biAM oondjaA yekami shomARA influence bekonamjooonom! Nasim²

  • iran wasn't islamic until the arab invasion and you dont belive in democrasy? fuck you dictator..

  • ı love rang a rang iran

  • why does he wear a tie, that is western influence.

  • Why have you been so retardedly brainwashed? The tie, FYI, has its origins in Persia.

Like the guitar, which evolved from the TAR and the seTAR, the tie has also evolved from its roots in Persia. But I wont tell you how.

He couldnt wear a burka, since your family had bought all those up!

  • به این میگویند ماهور.هزاران درود بر این استاد بی بدیل و ممتاز . دردش بر سر تارزانهای موسیقی از جمله لطفی و سایر شرکای فاسد موسیقی فروش!

  • I am grateful to u 4 this masterpiece of music. I pray God to prolong the life of these great musicians like Shahnaz. Just compare his unique style with CHARLATANS like LOTFI!who are stain of our music!

  • Very good video! But the TAR instrument its armenian, over 3000 years. The first melody and rytm its armenian too (SHALAKHO).

  • Thanks for your comment. i didn't really know that the origin of this instrument is Armenian...But if you are talking about 300 years ago, well...at that time there wasn't Armenia as a individual country, and it was belong to her motherland Iran....so, we still can say that the origin of this instrument is Iranian....but after all, even now a days, there is a very strong relation between these two countries and there is a lot of Armenian living in Iran or Iranian living in Armenia...

  • me, myself, when i used to live in Iran, in our neighborhood, i remember there were a lot of Armenian family living with us in peace and there was no difference...i had a lot of Armenian friends that they were belong to my best friends....even here, i have a lady friend who she is Armenian and is a very nice lady...once again, thanks for your nice comment and happy to have another Armenian friend....yours, Hadi

  • Thank you! Im armenian musician and live in Argentina.

  • dummy, 3000 years ago there was no Armenia It was part of Iran...

  • 3000 years ago, there was no iran

  • Yes there was. Dont be so negative.

  • STOP with the taryaak, nasimjoon. There WAS an Armenia. THATS how it WAS a part of the Persian Empire.

  • No...you're wrong. what's with armenians trying to take credit for persian things. This is persian ok...i'm sorry to break it to you. Armenians have their own things like the Oud...but guess what.. "tar" means string in persian. So the entire west and india got this from persia.

  • haha you guys are being so gay. We're all from the same desert. Deal with it.

  • Hi, this is really special. I study Ethnomusicology and play instruments in the European classical tradition, as well as Irish traditional and folk music. I would love to learn a Persian instrument, though I can't imagine how I could manage...the style is so unique...plus I couldn't find any books! lol

  • UCLA has an ethnomusicology program. Not the greatest, but there you could find Dr. Sadeghi. Homechisselle plays the santur like crazy.

  • Thank you for sharing your beautiful music with the rest of the world! I'm just an admirer of your wonderful culture! Best wishes!

  • Thanks samshake2010 for your nice and kind comment...thank you

  • please compare this great style of tar playing with those like Mohammad Reza LOTFI who just PUNISH the Tar not playing it! Please put more from this Grand Master Jaleel Shahanz. Let show the reality of iranian music .Thanks very much for sharing this music. Parvaneh

  • I just love and admire this lovely music. THANKS

  • I'm really happy you liked this music....thanks
